Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Yep. I had it before but had a problem with my phone and had to flash back to stock. I've been running for a month without a rom. After having the problem the past two days I decided to flash the latest Sourcery.

I personally loved sourcery, but the battery life forced me to switch. I use my device too much and even with a tank battery, it just wasn't practical.

Battery life on the be build is fantastic. It has a custom kernel.

I left Sourcery when 4.2 dropped. Going back to Sourcery was a compromise...or so I thought. That ROM always packed a ton of features but performance and battery life were not great.

It's too early to say how battery life is because I typically judge that with standby time (and haven't really put my phone down for long in the past few days). Performance is better on this ROM than on any other ROM I have used. Running at 1.2 GHz and this thing is flying. I was expecting lag to an extent and haven't seen it. Even when running low on RAM, the phone handles new task with ease. I just picked up my phone and everything was fluid...just to see that I had 78 MB free. The stock Sourcery kernel is pretty bad ass in that regard.

Eagle told me he changed the governor in his kernel or something like that. I totally agree. This is like a reborn rom. It flies even with the thousands of options.

And about food trucks... If you can find the Grilled Cheese Truck in orange county, CA... They serve a heck of a meal.
As for food trucks here in Austin.. They are on the list to get to. Apparently there are more than 30 registered with the city... Have yet to find them, but guessing they are closer to downtown and the college/capitol buildings.... Looking forward to it!

At least in DC, nearly all the food trucks (and we have a ton now!) are on Twitter to let you know where they are. We also have an up to date map too. :)

Wonder if Austin has something similar?

I was wondering about that too. (I have not gotten the tweet bug yet... Lol) but back in Santa Barbara, the 8 or so trucks used FB to get out the word... Going to have to find whatever resource is here in Austin! Thanks for the suggestion.
Hope everyone had a great weekend. Ours was fun, and now on to a new week. Got stressed last night thinking about this work week, and did not sleep well. But maybe I will be tired enough tonight to sleep better.
Also just a side joke on my rom... Still using Jelly Belly... Did the rounds last week and this weekend. Trying to see if I can use the JB sourcery or AOKP or mmuzzys rom to get better life? Nope, back to Jelly Belly this morning. For some reason I cannot get a full days use out of another rom. I usually let a Rom settle as close to a clean install that I can, then let it ride for 2 days, try a different kernal, let it ride for 2 days... But for whatever reason, Jelly Belly shows a minimum of 4-6 hours better life on the 2nd day and beyond than any other rom. And considering my days are usually 16 hour days... Its nice not to have to charge it at all during the day, with the same normal usage. So, still loving Jelly Belly with Lean Kernal exps and interactivex. Happy Monday all!

I can appreciate that. I was running Jelly Belly as well and enjoyed it... Until I got bored with the lack of options. What bugged me about that ROM was that I would have dramatic lag anytime one or more apps would update from the play store. I tried different kernels but nothing helped. Since switching, that problem has vanished. It's all about finding what works for you individually. But I'll be testing battery life today. 3% drain per hour is the benchmark with limited use :)

Like is the ROM just not working at all for you?

It always worked and ran fine, but battery life was always terrible. I could get barely 4 hours of screen time on my 3800 mah battery no matter the kernel, but on Eclipse with LK, I tend to get anywhere from 5.5 to 6.5 hours depending on where I am most of the day(signal). Yes, I'm a heavy user on work days because I'm not entitled to my own computer as an adjunct so I kill time when needed on my phone.

I have never received novocaine for cavity work. Today was the first time. HUGE difference. Now I understand the Bill Cosby bit about his bottom lip being on the floor.

This is a great article with an 8 minute video about arcades. I remember popping quarter after quarter in machines as a kid. It was mostly money from all the grass cutting jobs I had. Yeah, I guess I could have saved that money? Nah! PLAY GAMES!

For Amusement Only: the life and death of the American arcade | The Verge

I fondly remember the arcade as well.

In my area, we had several. All kinds of video games. Not just fighting and war related, either. I remember when arcades changed. Games became more complex, far better graphics and the costs went to a dollar a play. They lost patrons.

Most arcades towards the end had very few old games, just those huge and costly ones.

One arcade I fondly recall had those big games, but it also had the mechanical games I love. Just relays, switches and not one LED. All mechanical and no video screen. He also sold food and he priced it so the change was always in quarters rather than something like 18 or 23 cents. His theory was, why let kids leave with pennies and nickles? Give the patron a quarter and he will spend it in the arcade.

I do miss the arcades.

And scary pool halls. Few here likely remember when pool halls were dirty and filled with hustlers and rough regulars who would school you big time if you dared to play a game for money thinking you had a chance of winning.
