Thank you for this post. I appreciate knowledgeable lurkers. Beats out old farts, like me, who post utter nonsense!

Your posts make more sense than mine. This is a rare case where for the past several years I moved from demand & planning marketing to a materials manager and bench-marked "best practices" companies for my company's improvements. Verizon has a solid inventory control system and not store controlled. Nor should it be ;) :)

ok kids... I'm aaaaaalll caught up from the night. some good posts there ... unusual for the middle of the night. I'm glad I read it. That best buy picture? nice. Anyway, I have to go. I apologize for being away a lot of this weekend, but someone else can carry the torch, ay?

ttyl.

Well, since ya'll are tossing around your knee surgery dates in relation to Incredible release dates, I'll throw mine in too. I'm hoping for the week of the 19th - my surgery (not knee) is the 20th so MM's BB guess of the 21st would be most excellent! That'd really give me something to do besides lie around and feel sorry for myself! :D

n00b ALERT!

Sorry guys....

But, why do we call it the evergreen thread?

NocturnalJazz..."evergreen" originates from botany and refers to plants that live year round. It is also an industry term that is used when something is always kept up to date...for example, a job manual would be kept "evergreen" (as are our Incredible specs). The term is also applied in music when a song or band is always applicable and/or relevant and transcend time, think of songs like Yesterday or Let It Be (Beatles)...they are also referred to as "Evergreens". If i had to think of a one word synonym for evergreen it would probably be timeless.

Hope this helps...

I'm not sure if you remember me, but I was there....how many times did we get false announcements for the Omnia II....that gets old.

Vaguely. Seems like years ago. :) I don't frequent over there much at all anymore. That seemed like the most active location for Omnia II info, but when I defected to Android, this was the best site for Verizon-related info. I guess you were one of the many that determined that Android was a better option than waiting forever on the Omnia II? I'm actually glad it was delayed because in the end, Android suits my needs/wants much more than WinMo.

Thanks! I still can't figure out how to create and send a NEW sms. I get how you can receive one and reply thru email without using a text plan but how do you create and send a new one if there is no email to reply to?
I can send new texts from google.com/voice and I'm sure you can from the app, but, like I said, I haven't acutally used it so I don't know exactly how. I'm guessing it would be pretty similiar to the website. You should try using google.com/voice to actually send a text or two.

And you don't need to send it to email anymore. It will push it directly to the app or forward it directly to your phone depending on how you have it set up (please note that this second option WILL use your cell phone's texting plan).

When selecting a contact to text, you will receive a pop up asking to use either GV or messaging.

Guys, I can confirm I have found the SKU for the Incredible screen protectors - 21,600 in the warehouse, if you wanted to know haha and I did find a SKU for an extended battery as well but no pics or anything. 0 in the warehouse, priced at 49.99.

Thought you guys might like to know. Hopefully I can find more things starting tomorrow when the ball starts rolling.

Hello all! Thought i'd like to share an interesting discovery I made at work today. ...<snip>.:D

Excellent work. Here's a thought, input the SKU for the Eris and maybe we can see if there is any correlation between the HTCBBY descriptors? That might yield some interesting information.;)

True, but at least for the Droid, there was solid information leaked by this time (prior to release) that did not appear to contradict as much as the news presented in this thread.

Makes me think both the "150,000 in warehouses" and end of month release may be incorrect.

Of course this thread is gonna have inaccuracies. If you're trying to figure out every little nugget of information, you're gonna get some wrong stuff from time to time. I think we have a lot of "solid information" on the Incredible. It seems the only thing we're missing is the release date confirmed by Verizon. We already have a 'confirmed' best buy release date.

I think you are pricing it as a new customer or adding another line to the account because I am getting different prices. Also, pricing might be done by markets because I get a 70 dollar difference with new account with my zip code. Now, when I use my NE2 there is a big difference in pricing. They try hard to lock me to a 2 year contract. Below is the price difference for me between the NE2 and 1 year contract upgrade. They really stick it to me by the pricing below. My pricing is 170 dollars different.

Ouch. Well, thanks for pointing that out to me as I just rechecked after logging in, and got the same prices at you. $70 difference. Doesn't seem fair that new customers get the better deal here

I've honestly been conflicted on the N1 vs INC for weeks now, but I've come full circle and am 100% for the HTC Incredible. I can't remember anything that I've been so obsessed about. Thanks to everyone for the tidbits of info. This should be an exciting week ahead!

Thanks for the backup. Maybe it's different in-store than online? I'm not sure what the in-store 1 year contract prices are, but if it's true that ALL smartphone's are a $70 difference there (instead of just blackberries), make sure you buy the Incredible online (if you plan on doing the 1 year contract).

*With the exception of the possibility the Incredible is actually a $70 difference online also, then feel free to buy it in store ;)

Are you sure you weren't on testman? Or if you were logged in, it might display your specific prices based on your account.. I was on the site as well and every smartphone is 70 more for a 1 year.. Unless it's some strange regional thing going on.. Strange how the 2 year pricing is the same though..

Sorry, not sure what to tell ya..

I wasn't logged in when I initially did it. After logging in and looking at my upgrade prices, it WAS $70 afterall. Hopefully since I'm upgrading from a dumbphone, and I'm in PA where I believe there's some kind of promotion going on for that, hopefully that makes up the difference.

Hey guys! So, if the Incredible does end up cheaper online than in store I will buy it online. Question: Do you trust the delivery truck to safely deliver it? I would be heartbroken if they deliver it to my front door, and when I open it the screen of my brand new Incredible is cracked :( I can only imagine that truck speeding along and going full speed over potholes. What do you guys think?

I am hoping that some of you reading here who are really into the internals of Android can shed some light on something which has been bothering me and I am questioning about the Incredible. It is regarding the inability to do true hands free dialing using a bluetooth headseat. Virtually all dumb phones which support bluetooth and other smartphones can do it.

I have read elsewhere it has to do with Google disabling the recognition of the "announce" from bluetooth. I am assuming that is what is sent when pressing the button on the headset for such purposes. I have also read that Android is weak on bluetooth altogether. Another mentioned that google sent voice commands into their "cloud" to process and send something back to the handset. Whatever the case, it all adds up to not being able to legally initiate calls in places like California and other states with "hands free" laws. I won't currently go off on my rant about makeup, coffee, burgers, stereo and gps systems, etc... and the necessity for using hands on in those cases.

I know someone with a Samsung Moment (Android OS - currently 1.5) and it can do true hands free dialing from the bluetooth headset using some voice recognition by Nuance. It does this out of the box.

My question for those in the know is, is there something which can be done to our Incredible which will allow true hands free dialing from a bluetooth headset so those of us in Google's home state can legally use the phones with their beloved OS on it? It seems like Google has been very aware of this issue since 2007 and has yet to address it. I'm to the point of contacting my state Assemblyman and Senator and ask them to make noise about legislation to disallow the sale of any cell phone (smart phone anyway) which does not allow hands free dialing. Google, "can you hear me now"?

I hope someone can help with my confusion. I want this phone but we need to get a family plan going for three people. My wife is eligible for NE2 now so we figure to get her phone before starting plan. If I use NE2 at BB for my Incredible can we still get family plan from Verizon or what? I guess I don't quite get the affiliation of BB to VZ.

Trucks deliver the phones to VZW and to the stores. If there's anything damaged you will be eligible for a full refund or replacement.

Haven't you ever bought computer hardware online? I have been doing that for a decade and nothing has ever been damaged in transit. They aren't new at this.

online phone purchases are delivered FEDEX and REQUIRE a signature upon delivery. So make sure you ( or someone else) are going to be home or have package delivered to your work address otherwise you will have to go to FEDEX the next day to pick it up. I found that out the hard way.

Been following/stalking this thread since almost the beginning, thanks for all the great info. I've been trying to prepare for my new smart phone for a few months now (have a list of apps to download on appbrain.com, fixed up my gmail contacts, set up gvoice, and gcal...).
Now that we're finally close to a release I had a couple of questions I was hoping you guys might have the answer to.
First, I know it was discussed MANY pages back, but are we sure if it's a micro usb or the proprietary htc usb cord? If it's the htc then I'm probably going to buy some extra so I'd like to have them ahead of time.
Second, for anyone that already has an android phone; when you're searching for contacts can you search by fields other than name? Like nickname. Does the contact list show all the other fields that you can put in for a contact?
Thanks again for all the hard work that's been put into this thread, I'm very much looking forward to finally having my android phone in the coming weeks.

The same/similar "delivery truck" delivers the phones to the stores so I wouldn't worry about it. Is it a hassle to file a claim that it arrived damaged? Sure. Is it likely to happen? No.
