Root [CyanogenMod-7 ROM+KERNEL] OM-Mandylion.....01-12-2013

Thanks :)

You should set your sister up with either an account here or at Android Central that way if she has any questions about features or function she can ask.

Ya, she comes to me with any problems or questions. She's only 15. I explained to her about roms and rooting and such, and she was just like please make my phone better. I don't care what you do, just fix it kinda thing. So after triple checking with her I did it. I'm just glad shes happy and will leave me alone for now on. With me being in my twenties the last thing I want to hear is her whining about her phone. Thanks again. Thanks to you, I now am at peace ha. No more complaining from her.

If she has any questions ill look into it. She wouldn't even do the forum thing if I showed her.

I could write up a more noob friendly install instructions for people who have not done a custom rom before if you would like.

I suggest adding to the FAQ:

You do not need gapps, they are included. Kernel is included (says in title)
Keep the superuser version that came with the rom. Do not change it to super SU.

The sd-ext partition gets mounted as the data partition, so whatever you set the partition size to that is what shows up in Settings > Storage > Internal Storage. The kernel and basic gapps are including, the only thing that I recommend is that the partition be no more then 10% of the total sdcard sized and ext3/ext4.

Meaning that this rom does what link 2 sd did, giving you more internal memory for apps.

Is this on xda? I couldn't find it. I could link them to here if you would like me too.

Thanks for this!! Was starting to have some weird random boots with Backside. Initially I was just going re-flash Backside, but saw this ROM was now available. Plus it's nice not having Andy flash me everytime I restart my phone now...LOL!

The only thing I suggest doing though is changing the order of steps when coming from another ROM. You probably want to do your backup's first, copy the backups from the SD-card, then format the SD-card.

Installation Instructions if coming from another rom
  1. Download MyBackup Root from the Market and backup everything you need to. MyBackup Root comes pre-installed so it is easy to restore app and data backups.
  2. Make Nadroid Backup.
  3. Copy your backups for the prior steps to another device.
  4. Format sdcard from recovery and create an sd-ext partition, I recommand that the partition be no more then 10% of the total size of the sdcard.
    ...

New kernel with entropy Linux kernel patch check O/P from download links. Entropy shows to be right where is should be dropping no lower then 2500, without the need for the rngd-tool binary, or linking /dev/urandom to /dev/random which can cause security risk to the kernel.

Edit: No Gapps are needed, if flashed they will bork the ROM and cause all sorts of problems.

Thank's bac22 for catching my mistake (thought I was in another thread).

I appeared to have some issues with Gapps, so I installed the 2011-08-28 version and it seems to be working fine. I need to fine-tune the system a bit but it's looking good. It says I now have 1.1 gigs of internal memory. I shouldn't use Link2SD any more, right? In addition, my lower buttons besides the home button don't turn on the screen anymore. Is there a way to make them do it again?

The Gapps are included in the ROM. You need to do a fresh flash/install, but this time don't flash the Gapps.
Read ^ my edited post.

The system's gapps are working fine. My two issues atm are should I avoid using Link2SD and how can I make my bottom buttons turn on the screen.

The ROM already has a Link2SD like script, so yes, avoid using Link2SD.

Note: Although it seems to be running ok right now, you will develope system and app glitches as well as forceclosure's later. I would reflash without Gapps to save the headaches later.

Backing up now with MyBackup Root. Then doing a Titanium Backup. Then reinstalled rom. :)

Titanium backup doesn't work with this ROM...at least the restore from an different ROM. If you doing it after you have the new ROM installed just to backup up your apps, then that will probably be okay.

MyBackup Root restored most of my apps. Titanium Backup restored a few it missed and the data for my system. It worked fine for me. o.O

You know... I've heard that before as well but I haven't had trouble using it with Mandylion. I bought the pro version. Titanium Backup updates frequently could they have fixed the issue?

Home will still wake the screen but if you want the others just replace /system/usr/keylayout with the one from Mirrage or any other cm7 rom for the ov

Hey looks like a great rom to tryout, using green machine with 2.3.7 cyanogen mod 7.2 right now... I'm looking to see if any roms will work with bluetooth 3.0 devices? Also looking to see if this rom might be better than what I'm running ? Thanks for any feedback ! Developers ROCK !

I used to run Backside IHO at 600-800Mhz with the performance script. I'm doing the same with this ROM but my battery life seems inferior. Any ideas? :s

The min. is where the phone idle's. The stock ROM's max. was 600MHz.

For most Gingerbread ROM's the best CPU setting is 480MHz min. and 768MHz max. (depending on the quality of the processor you could go up or down one setting on the max.).
At 600MHz min. the phone never catches a break and the battery drains a lot faster.
Try the ^ above CPU setting and see if it doesn't dramatically improve your battery off charge times.

Typically I can go 6 solid hours with screen on, and internet connected browsing/ helping in the phone forums before swapping battery.
