Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

The Evo will use micro-USB I believe, so any micro-USB chargers will work. I priced some $3.00 chargers on buy.com last week for example - don't pay $40.00 lol.

Yeah thats true. Me and my fiancee just test drove a Lexus rx and we wouldn't need it on that car, But on the car i'm driving right now it would be helpful.

i guess it also depends how much you use the NAV. i use mine multiple times every day so i need a dedicated NAV. if it's infrequent, you could probably get away with just the smartphone NAV. i've seen the Garmin Nuvis and they look pretty good - especially for the price - but again - i prefer built in if at all possible - assuming it's a good OEM touchscreen NAV like Lexus/Toyota Acura/Honda and some others have.

1. what about the subtle power supply amp/voltage/watt differences? i've read horror stories about how some phones like Pre and others are very finicky and will stubbornly refuse to consistently charge if it's not an exact power supply.

2. do you recommend a specific source? ex. amazon?

3. do you recommend a specific brand?

Yes, but the purported announcement of the release date is less than a week away. Is Sprint going to feel comfortable announcing a release date, and starting the rumored advertising campaign, when the phone hasn't cleared FCC yet? I realize that FCC approval is typically a formality, but its a necessary formality nonetheless.

A company can request the FCC to delay any postings or announcements until their choice. The Pre was a perfect example.

I think in all our excitement, it seems it may have been PSed by someone, not all too crafty... Slightly weird that C 2006 Sprint is on the bottom of all the pages, and on 9, the 8th page it says something to the extent of sprint now and the Palm Pre...
Page ten seems to be missing, 12-14 are numbered twice... :-/

Yeah it's definitely PSed. I guess somebody got tired of waiting for news. They came up with there own. :D

It still got me drooling, though... Can't wait to pay my ETF to Big Red and never look back once I have this beauty in my hands...

Is the new maker for the screen the same one that made the N1 screen that's having so many problems with multitouch?

Cool gallery images. Although the first page does say its a draft done on April 7, so things can change.

Nice overall. A little tease until friday I guess.

AS for the comment of a company telling the FCC to hold up on releasing documents. Yes that is true. HTC does it all the time.

This pamphlet is of really questionable quality, if it's real it clearly was leaked before it was anywhere close to done. I mean there is an iPhone case in there and lots of low res photos (look at the multiple case colors) and an image missing.
Not much new here, but I do think it would be kind of cool if they sold multiple back plates, that's kind of different and less tacky then a case IMO. Personally I will just stick with black though.

I sold my HD2 on eBay today and bought a HTC Desire to hold me over until we get the EVO. I had the Nexus One and bought the HD2 to get "an EVO like feeling" with the HD2's large screen and sense UI. Needless to say the phone was nice but that stinking WinMo under the sense was just to much to handle. I think the Desire will hold me over until the EVO lands. Then you will find my Desire on eBay LOL ;)

These could still very well be legitimate training slides from Sprint, IMO.

I work for a high profile electronic manufacturer (nothing phone related) and some of their internal documents -including ones for upcoming product launches- look like they were thrown together by monkeys in a dark room in about five minutes. As long as the info gets through quickly to the employees. So I wouldn't chalk up the shoddy workmanship to being fake *just* yet.

Ah, false hopes...I know thee well.

Plus the fact that the document/slides do say its a draft on image 1 and on page 16 it does state Images are not final, placeholders until product is developed and approved.
