Root lg esteem temp newbie

whats up im looking for some help. im lookong to root my nieces phone lg esteem obviously and anyone wanna tell me whats good over here as far as roms like fastest stble etc? and also she tells me that it randomly reboots u guys think that 1 will a rom fix that or is it a deeper issue thanks in advance guys

First check the SW Version by going to settings/about phone.
If its on ZVB or ZVC then you need to update to ZVD this should stop random reboots.
Go here and follow steps to update if your not on ZVD:

Once your on ZVD go here for root & cwm recovery.

Make a backup of stock before you flash a rom. For warranty purposes, restore your stock backup and follow the second post of my guide to unroot and remove CWM Recovery and the phone will be bone stock ready to take back to Metro.

k cool ...just gotta figure out which to go about it cuz she rooted it once before and erased stock apps she ddnt want so as im typing u think if i throw the stock apps on there that are missing and then cwm backup will that be bets way to go about or use one of the stock roms in rooting threads?

Don't worry about it you'll be fine, just install the custom rom.
When your ready to return back to stock, just follow my guide from the beginning... I've included a stock backup that you can download with the guide which has all the stock apps.

If your referring to the update from the LG website link I posted, then you don't need internet connection for your phone. The PC will do all the work.

All rooted pretty simple only diff between ultra and esteem is we use odin to get cwm soas far as my internet connection was cuz took 40 min to update to zvd but rooted so all goodlike the fact doeant take forever and day to boot

Funny thing is when i went to do do root cwm i had my phone connectes as well so it read my phone 1st and installed cwm on my phone erased mine lol but easy fix

damn we dont have cm at all its been attempted to be ported but a couple of the ppl who tried bricked there phone and are now on to other phones we do have one dev who has been trying to port. but not looking so good.

PlayfulGod has been working on it and has been making progress. He recently updated that he got sound working though not a daily driver yet. He's been dedicated to it, so in do time it'll be here.

so i wanted to edit the cyan theme in uot cuz some of menus are to transparent makes unreadable went to go do and the systemui was to big as u know uot requires file be no bigger than 5 mb and the one pulled is over 5 any solutions?

I'm not sure... maybe someone can chime in on this.
Have you taken a look at this theme here? It would give you an ICS look. Check the screen shots.

oh yeah went through the theme list....niece really liked http://androidforums.com/esteem-all-things-root/566462-theme-cyan-4-2-a.html which is one she chose like i said only flaw if u wanna call it that cuz its nice them is some of the pop up menus text u cant see cuz its black on black which i know how to edit in uot but cant cuz systemui being to big....tried pulling uot settings from theme zip but didnt see em so yeah any help be appreciated no biggie can switch themes but would like to keep theme

so i rooted esteem other day and seems to run battery down is it a rom issue uding number 2 rom ...data off as well as gps 2 things i know to kill battery ...anyone know of any issues...

There were a few people that did say they were getting high battery drain on version 2.7, but no one knows why since most were fine.

When I had the esteem I stuck with v2.5 which for me had great battery life and as far as I can see no one reported high battery drain on this version.

Now the difference between the 2 versions seems to only be the launchers.
v2.5 has launcher pro
v2.7 has holo launcher

I can only think of 3 solutions.
1. Install a different launcher on your current setup and uninstall holo to see if it helps with battery.
2. Try v2.5 of rom #2 - Dev-Host - MS910_NumberTwo_2.5_ZVD.zip - The Ultimate Free File Hosting / File Sharing Service
3. Try different rom altogether, though #2 is the most widely used and considered the best for the esteem.

thanks for file....now let me ask if u know if i install apps that are titanium backups from the current version of rom 2 i have will that cause any problems because im downgrading so to speak to older version of rom? I ask cuz with my phones rom we had to do a fresh install of apps on one of updates ecause the backups from titanium might cause bugs in rom?

Your Welcome.
Generally you should always do a fresh install of everything to avoid any bugs. If you do use TB then only restore user apps and not system apps (this has worked for me). Google apps like Play Store should never be restored... That's a bug waiting to happen. You can also restore your call log and text messages.
