New guy here..been lurkin for awhile now. I never had anything to contribute so I never posted anything before but this is a safe place (relatively ;)) right? Thanks to everyone on here, It really has been an enjoyable thread to read for the past few weeks.

Welcome. Just stay away from any boxes with a funny smell and you'll be fine.

Anonimac you do an excellent job as our moderator and like I said I really would like to keep this thread going after we have it in hand. Tips, tricks, heck maybe we will be the first to root. I just think we can keep the moderating up to the moderator.

Thanks!

Right now the plan is to shut this specific thread down once the device is released. But fear not! lol I'm not sure if many out there are aware, but there is a level above this! It's called the HTC Incredible phone section! (i'm joking, but i seriously don't doubt that there are people who've never even been one level higher)

Anyways...on the topic of "post-release plans"...
We will ABSOLUTELY continue supporting and promoting a sense of community for the Incredible. We will set up stickied threads and sub-forums as needed and warranted for the most relevant topics like Tips and Trick, Wallpapers, R&R (no, not rest and relaxation, Root and ROM!), maybe accessory reviews, etc...

Rest assured the community will be well supported by all the staff. But we're just the framework...YOU GUYS are the meat and potatoes of this thread and what will make or break its success in the future!

Rest assured we're all committed to the effort!:)

EDIT: Small clarification, i'm not a Moderator, i'm a Guide. I know it's just jargon but i don't want to step on any toes.

So as far as rebates go I've heard a couple of different things and I was curious as to if there was anyone that could clarify. If you go into VERIZON and get the Incredible for $300 and there's a $100 rebate how does that work.

I've heard that at this point the whole process only takes a couple of weeks, is this true or am I looking at a 6 week wait? Ive also heard conflicting reports of what the rebate is ... Is it a gift card to Verizon, a gift card to ANYWHERE, a check, a credit on your account?

And does anyone know HOW you go about receiving the rebate, do you Mail in for it, register online, call in for it? I was hoping someone that has recently gone through this process could answer some of these questions for me.

I think your question of rebates has been answered, seems to be Visa gift card in around 2 weeks. Because it's a gift card and because it takes around 2 weeks, I'm pretty sure I'm going to just buy my phone from Best Buy. Assuming they are out at around the same time. I would order online from Verizon, but if there are problems with the phone, you have to mail it back to them, no? I'd like personal service and I've never had anything but good experiences at Best Buy.

As far as evening out the guy to girl ratio, there are more girls here than you may think ;)

Anon,

did your source get the phone in hand yet? I know you mentioned it yesterday but haven't seen a peep today.

I just got a droid (comming from Touch Pro) I love it and Android. Thanks everyone for making this thread Incredible!! I got a droid cause you guys made me go crazy for the Incredible, I couldnt wait and wanted to get familiar with android. Now im just hoping that it releases before my 30 days are up!!!

Hey... just set up Google Voice for my upcoming Incredible. Is anyone currently using it? Thoughts?

I bought a GV invite from Ebay cause that can save monies. Anyway I got it a while back and I was not satisfied. First Google decided not to make an app for WM so that didnt help. I had to use Opera to text, and Fring to make calls. Calls were weird and not acceptable. However, on a computer its great to text pp at high speed :D

Now with this droid, texting is soo easy and cool and reliable. I have no txting plan with verizon now ;) (I havent tried calling with GV, verizon has no data only plans... bummer)

I'm not sure on "official" policy, but I've both ordered phones online (last 4 or so) and bought phones in store, and have had no problem bringing either in for repair at a Verizon store. My old LG Venus (BIGGEST POS EV.ER.) was replaced 4 times in store, even after warranty, for problems I had with it.

Same goes for my current BBerry Storm (1). I ACTUALLY bought my original storm on Ebay, brought it in store when the screen failed to "wake up" on day - - and because the person I'd bought it from still had warranty, they replaced it on the spot for free.

Hope this helps a bit?

Thanks!

Thats what I wanted to hear!! I know alot of us (me included) will be first time Andoiders (?) So knowing a central hub to get info will be awesome...especially with people you sat in the foxholes with in the waiting process

Unless it's the smell of your new HTC Droid Bacon.

Kinda amazing that this thread has almost 2,000,000 page views isn't it? I remember joining this thread back on page 56 and I thought that was a large thread already.

Oh hmm that's encouraging. I've bought my phones from Best Buy and Lord knows I have so many problems with this stupid Blackberry Pearl and they've always been helpful, even after the first 30 days. I think I was confused because when my brother bought his Blackberry online, it stopped working and he needed to exchange. He tried to do in store and they made him mail it back because he bought it online.
