Root NexTheme ESE81 R3 Release (4/21/10) - New Goodies!

Any chance we could get the old google talk logo and notifications back? Love the ROM and will continue using it but the purple is really not doing it for me.

Looks blue to me!

But if you want to change it, it's named stat_notify_chat.png, and is in the drawable_hdpi folder of the framework-res.apk, and the talk icon itself should be in the drawable_hdpi folder of the talk.apk.

I dunno...

I don't have a proper host for the file (using Mediafire), and I'm worried that making it readily available for ROM manager users will result in a lot more problems from less experienced users. I don't know if I want to deal with that :(

Ahh, that makes sense - and I agree wholeheartedly about the more inexperienced users bit....

Thanks for watching out for us (and yourself!)

i left it off charge all night didnt have that problem again yet..i believe i left it at 90 im almost 13 hours in and its at 40 percent ...one of my questions is setcpu is showing 21 percent in battery usage and thats without using the phone all night and day is that normal?..i dont recall seeing such a high number on previous roms? i could be wrong though

Well, that sort of makes sense - if you don't have any other apps running then the apps that run all the time (battery, in this case) *will* take up a larger percentage of the total power of the phone over the life of the battery.

If you were to have used other apps, then battery's percentage would be lower (if not *much* lower) b/c the other apps would have been using a lot more power than that one is.

Unplugged 11 hours 25 minutes ago..... system says I have 70% left. Phone runs cooler, and smoother than ever before. I am keeping this rom for a LONG time, I came from BB 0.9 and will try bb 1.0 but really love this rom and theme, thanks! Three thumbs up.

do i need to do a full wipe from your last update or can i just load it hit allow update and let it do that. my gallery doesnt work on the last one :(

Not quite sure how to do that. Thanks though.

It should install over the last release fine. Only thing I can think of is Maps might act up (since it's no longer a system app). If that's the case, there are a few terminal commands you can just run to fix the problem, and redownload it from the marketplace.

There are so many different links, which one is the most up-to-date version of NexTheme I would love to try it...just want to make sure I'm flashing the lastest verison.

I have yet to try this - but with the sh*tstorm going on at DF and me jumping off hte bandwagon (no product, no matter how good, is worth that ostracization) I think I'll try this one tonight.

this is my first custom rom. I like it very much.
one question though, in setCPU when I click auto detect slider only goes up to 600MHz. Isn't it suppose to go up to 1GHz?
I'm a little confused.
tnx.

Am I alone in this? Possible causes?

How did you flash it? Did you wipe data, cache, system, boot ?

Did you install it over another ROM?

Did you use Titanium backup to restore system settings (that can cause some conflicts) ?

Need some more info to help. Also, I don't think this needs a new thread, so I'm just going to merge it with the main release thread.

How did you install this? Was it a clean install? Which recovery did you use? You might want to try a reinstall, but this time format data, cache, system, and boot. That way, you can be sure there aren't any remnants of older ROMs on your device. You are right, the slider should go up to 1GHz.

I love this rom but I'm having a problem. It was up and running fine for about 2 days. Yesterday afternoon it suddenly went into a boot loop that I couldn't get it out of. Had to go back to DM to make it stop. Tried to re-flash this one and it went right back to the boot loops again.

Any idea how I can fix this? I really want to go back to this one....

Thanks
Kathy

Very, very strange.

Best thing I can think of is to boot into recovery:

adb shell
format DATA:
format CACHE:
format SYSTEM:
format BOOT:

and then install.

If you have Clockwork recovery, it actually has options to format these for you (without adb), under the 'partition' menu.

I have SPrecovery. I cleared data and cache using recovery. I haven't seen options to wipe system and boot. Is it in recovery too?
I'll try reinstall.
Can I install different P3Droid kernel to avoid erasing all my data or does it wipe everything too?
Tnx.

Sorry, to wipe system and boot you need to use adb.

You can see if installing a different P3Droid kernel will fix your issues. It will only change the kernel and wifi driver. It won't wipe your data.

I had facebook trouble at first when I flash this rom. Every time I tried to open facebook, it fc'd on me. This was with doing a factory wipe (data/cache) before installing this rom.

However, since then i tried installing the update.zip WITHOUT performing the wipe, and all is well now.

A little strange.

Wow... thanks for the lighting fast response!

I don't mean to be a pest... is this the same as a factory reset? If I do a factory reset, what do I lose? Pics? contacts? etc?

Thanks again!

No worries. It's actually more than a factory reset, which is only a wipe of data and cache. This will wipe the OS (which should be overwritten by the update.zip, but isn't always the case), and the kernel (once again, should be overwritten, but doesn't hurt to wipe beforehand either).

A factory reset results in loss of apps and settings, text messages.

You will not lose pictures, music, contacts, calendar, gmail, anything on your SD card or anything synced with Google.

When you reinstall the OS, if you go into the market, all your old apps will be in the 'downloads' for you to redownload.

Woo hoo! You are THE best! Worked great, I'm out of the boot loop. Guess it needed to have all the crap cleaned out.

Thanks sooo much!

Installed over nexbeast 0.9 using SPrecovery. Did a data and cache wipe (1x) prior to install. Don't know how to do a system wipe yet. Recovered apps+app data using titanium.
