Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Ah, roaches in the apartment. Do I have some fun stories for you. ;):)
We've had some in ours, and I know it sucks. Definitely call the landlord.
Sadly, we've had some rodent issues in our restaurant since it's a super old building with a lot of openings which have all been closed. The other two, being brand new buildings have virtually none. I had a really bad mouse problem in my apartment in Kansas. I went through traps like crazy.
For roaches, the best thing is keep the place clean (same with mice). Have them lay glue traps for roaches to see where they're coming from. If you can avoid having the place sprayed that's great, but it may be the only option.

It's going to happen from time to time I'm afraid. Growing up in FL, it was just a fact of life that they get in the house somehow. Those ones fly too. :p Don't be too hard on the super unless you find a lot of them. Oh, and check your pantry... Specifically non-sealed containers.
Well my biggest problem with the super was when we had a centipede problem, his solution was to leave a can of Raid on my doorstep and say his job was done. I made sure to call the landlord directly and have that fixed, but I feel he doesn't really care about doing anything except for people he is buddy-buddy with.

I am hoping that this one wandered in from outside somehow and his buddies didn't follow him in. I will make sure an exterminator gets called to at least see our options, but I will be doing a major cleaning tonight to make sure I don't see anything else.

But this apartment just has been bad news bears so we are going to look into buying a starter home in July when the lease is up. I just hate relying on other people to get things done - one of my biggest pet peeves. Oh well, gonna be a LONG day either way.

I've never had a roach issue, and only 1 mouse in 3 years (was a field mouse not even a house mouse). But the centipede problem is a pain that we go through as well. And of course my GF is terrified of them

That's the problem with us. I go to bed early and she stays up late enjoying the fun of seeing the creepy crawlies that come out at night. ;)

It was funny one time finding a centipede on the wall, and our chinchilla tried to chase it on it's saucer wheel. I really wish I could have gotten a video of that before I eliminated it.

Yeah, I've heard some shrieks and "Kill it!" before. Having plenty of "experience" doing it in the past and at work, it really doesn't bother me.

It's funny, because when we had the one mouse last year, my GF was all like, "Kill it, get rid of it" Then when the trap finally got the pest, the trap crushed it's skull and it bled all over the kitchen floor. When she saw that, she cried. So naturally I'm a jerk and said "Well, did you want it alive or dead? Pick one" :p

morning every one :D ... i see all this talk about the s4... this thing is like my wet dream phone hahah but do i really want to go back to a non nexus device while i have been spoiled with the nexus goodness for about 3 years now? tough decisions lie ahead

Indeed, but I do find it funny how all the US GS3's are getting treated like Second class phone users by not getting the premium suite with their 4.1.2 update like the international version did. Makes me a little wary going forward.

I'm just wary with upgrading to another device on Verizon. My phone works just fine now. My wife pretty much is attached to her Bionic but hates the camera. While I'd love to jump on something now and sign ANOTHER contract with Verizon, I think we'll strongly weigh the decision when the time comes. :)

I know the feeling. Where I grew up, Verizon use to be the only game in town. AT&T was unreliable and Sprint & T-Mobile didn't have any coverage. That has since changed so I no longer feel it's justified to pay Verizon prices. I'll get an unlocked GSM phone, use T-Mobile as my daily carrier. If I need better service, an AT&T MVNO is only a sim card away.

:ditto:
I got the first cell phone of my entire family in 2000 and Verizon really was the only game in town. Was 18 at the time and promised to pay all the bills but needed a cosign from my parents. :)
Have never used another carrier so am not sure about how well they run in the area. Have only head some passing comments about T-Mo, AT&T and Sprint. The latter, I have no interest in. Really want to go GSM.

I've been with NyNex / Bell Atlantic / Verizon for a long time. My first cell phone.

Yeah, being naive to the differences between CDMA and GSM when I first got my own contract really has come back to bite me. Well, coming to AF has really woken me up. I really want to pull the trigger now, but having to pay $700 in ETF's and then buy new Nexus 4's really is quite an expensive upfront cost. Though I've already calculated that it would only take 4 months to break even.

Just got here. Good morning all.

Couple things:

In under 12hrs I have noticed high battery drain on the new radios whilst on 4G. Oh, wait, it's always been that way:rolleyes:

Killed a mouse once. Pretty sure we brought it home from visiting family out in the boondocks of Northern California. When I killed it, my Wife (GF at the time) called me a bastard and cried. Mind you, she told me to kill it and she said so loudly. I may never understand her:confused::rolleyes::D;)

Slight rant:
While a vegetarian I beat a dying rat to death in a trap that wasn't dead.
These animals are intruding on our ability to be healthy and serve food safely. While I'm a huge animal rights lover, I'm more concerned about the health of my wife, family, neighbors and customers. If it involves killing a pest small or large, that's my priority.
