Good day so far today.

Had an interview for a corporate IT job, that's actually close to my house. Found $20 in the suit jacket that I wore for the interview.

Came home, friend(who works IT at the job I interviewed for as well) text me and tells me that they loved me.

Success? Success.

Awesome news!!

I thought the international was being launched with Lte (4g)?

We will find out tomorrow, but heres a quote from the phandroid article.

"The reason for the divergent chipsets seems centered on LTE-connectivity. There are some indications that the Snapdragon 600 version of the phone (GT-i9505) will also launch in other LTE markets outside of the US, including the UK. The Exynos 5 Octa-powered version will likely land in regions favoring HSPA+ connectivity."

So the UK/Europe gets both handsets, the US version if you want LTE and the zouped up octa-core if you don't?

Yeah, thats just the S3 - jigged about a tad and relaunched, probably aimed more at the mid-range budget I'd guess.

Here's my quote from earlier today in another thread -

Marketing to the rescue.

No one anywhere is getting an octacore.

The Sammy chip is a dual quadcore, not an octacore.

There is a world of difference.

One quad is A-15 architecture, the other is a slow A-7, designed to save power. They won't be tricked into running at the same time, it'll be one or the other.

Initial reports of the One with the Snapdragon 600 give it high marks for battery life and very high marks for speed via benchmarks and feeling of no-lag fluidity.

Would therefore expect the same of the SGS4 with the Snapdragon 600.

The design goal of the new dual quadcore Exynos is for the same high performance and longer battery life. On paper, it could work well, but we won't know until it gets used and reported.

Won't matter to us if we can't get it, that will be academic.

Lots of people probably won't be ok with not getting an octacore, and like the same non-difference of the slower quad vs. faster dual core in the SGS3, it'll take a just a little while for the general population to settle down about it, in my opinion.

There is no souped up octacore, just marketing.

Wasn't this same controversy around with your LTEvo except it was dual core vs quad core. It really boiled down to the fact that it would be imperceivable to the users.

Getting kind of irked.

Rubin steps down.
Google cracking down on adblocking software (No need to discuss the ethics here).
Google kind of irked about Samsungs dominance.
Google disappointed about moto's offerings.

It sounds like the tegra 3 concept of the main cpu + a slower cpu for menial tasks, just advanced a tad. Either way, it'll be interesting to see and see how it sells. I'm not in the market for it so I'm not all that fussed, just interested.

With Sammy investing that what $4bn in texas, surely that will give the US a huge boost in terms of availability and support of all sorts of tech, assuming it's still on the cards?

Definitely the Tegra 3 on mega steroids.

Texas manufacturing and chip use is about supply, demand and LTE modem availability and compatibility. Also, profits, international trade and taxes.

No wrist slapping intended, I just hate marketing that lies to people. Can't escape it though. They're not bright enough to sell the truth.

That's what's annoying though, they could sell the truth, just as it is, like you put it.

"It's this CPU (A15) on steroids to give you what you want when you want it, and when you don't, it's running in this CPU (A7) to tick over, and power save, to make you juice go further" - and sell the power saving part along with the more efficient screen... C'mon Sammy!

Quoted for truth!

It's this a phone thread? Lol
Anyway, on other news.....

Hello. ? Is there any other news?

Ok ok ok. Back to phone stuff!

:rofl: I've been waiting for you to show up & see all this phone talk. So what ROM are you running again on your "rooted" S3 :D

Schiller is quoted as saying -

"With their own data, only 16 percent of Android users are on year-old version of the operating system," he said. "Over 50 percent are still on software that is two years old. A really big difference."

For those unfamiliar with my standard rebuttal to Apple's slagging our update schedules -

"I really like the new, latest iOS. With the latest advances offered by Apple, including Twitter integration, direct updating, multitasking improvements and notification bar, the iPhone has achieved almost all of the features found on a 2009 HTC Hero running Sense 1.0 and Android 1.6 Donut. Nicely done, Apple!"

Gosh, I just hope that our new Google overlords do something about all this fragging, it's just a killer, innit?

Not to mention the current iPhone is the first one to get LTE. How long did we have LTE before they finally got it. If you say we are behind the times Mr. Schiller you need to look at the man in the mirror my friend.
