Root Phone can not connect to PC after ROM flashed

I flashed the AlienDroid Android 4.2.1 ROM successfully this afternoon and after that, when I connect the phone to my PC, there's no response on my PC and I can't see the phone on my PC's "device manager", nor is there any pop up telling me to install new drive. The Debugging option is turned on and the phone says" USB connecting" and when I tap it into "mass storage" format my computer can recognize the SD card.

Just back in this morning, I can use the same cable and USB port to connect my phone to my PC, so the cable or USB should be fine. Then I plug my phone into my roommate's PC and the new drive is loading, after several minutes I can see the phone on the PC. So it means something is wrong with my PC. Tried different cable and different USB port , no avail.

But it doesn't really make sense, this morning my PC can connect to my phone with ICS stock room. Or maybe my PC is not compatible with the new ROM?

My PC: Windows 7 Ultimate X64 SP1
My Phone: HTC EVO V 4G, S-Off, HBOOT 1.5,

Thank you for any response.

Did you enable the developer options in system settings and activate USB debugging? There should be instructions in the OP for the ROM.

Yes, I'm 100% sure that I enabled all this and the phone can be seen on my roommate's PC but not mine. On the "Device Manager", no "Android Device", no "yellow question mark" and the device list doesn't change at all. Although I do hear the sound from Windows that tells me something is plugged into my PC's USB port.

I would try to reinstall the drivers, Or use a different USB port. Sometimes it will get "stuck" and not want to work using that USB port anymore until the drivers are reinstalled. You could always try a PC reboot too to see if that cures anything.

Sometimes the USB ports on the PC get "hung" and don't recognize when devices are connected. Have you tried rebooting your PC and then connecting the phone yet?

Yeah, I reboot my PC and my phone for several times, changes cable and port, and it still doesn't work. I also thought the driver may have some problem and I need to install it again.

The problem is, I can not locate the previous driver on my PC. And the Android device doesn't show up in the "Device Manager" so I can not simply right click it and "uninstall".

Have you tried going back to a Sense ROM to see if it works again? It would help to know if it's the ROM that's causing the problem or not.

I would unplug the phone, And just re-run the drivers installer or HTC sync depending on what you originally used to install the drivers in the first place, and see if that helps.

I tried HTC sync and it still says no Android phone found. I forgot how I initially installed the driver of the phone, it was more than half of a yeah ago.

Yeah, I would try what ramjet has suggested, And see if it is the ROM.

It would be very interesting if it is the ROM causing problems.

I've had this happen with quite a few different rom/kernel combinations, I'm not sure why. You can try doing it through recovery after mounting the card or use a card reader.

Tried two ICS ROM and it worked. Then I switched back to 4.1 or 4.2 based ROM and my pc don't recognize the phone. HTCsync on PC also says no cellphone detected. Though phone with all four ROMs can be connected to my roommate's PC. USB Debugging is always on.

I guess I have to restore my Windows 7. That's the last resort..
