Root [ROM][ALPHA] CyanogenMod 10 for the LG Connect 4G MS840

You're probably going to tell me you don't have the MS840V model. Flash VV3 firmware anyway, it will work, and its the best chance you have restoring your svc. Let us know if you're back up and running again afterward.

Alright guys, another update after some testing.

I managed to get the famous 1x for data, but it is definitively not constant. It comes and goes. What seems to trigger it is constantly hitting the power button to turn off the screen and back on. I did around 20 times and, around two times it got 1x, but it switchs off after a while. I have to do the power button thing to get back. Odd lol. I think this is somehow triggering the old way we used to have internet in MetroPCS. I mean, before we got 4G. Think old nokia phone with internet.

I'm still waiting on anyone to confer whether they're having the issue with their mobile identification number being different from what it's actually supposed to be like mine is when using CM10.
IF other people are having it, then there's a good chance that it's something that could be POSSIBLY fixed by forcing a re-authentication with the Network Access Identifier. Doing that is as simple as forcing the phone to use an unauthorized network tower, authorizing to it with appropriate settings, then forcing the phone back onto metro's with their appropriate settings, and all may be golden. Of course I'm not sure if this would be something that PG could do OOB (Out of box) but it's possible that this may be the solution, but I'd need more than just my phone doing it to further down that road.

yeah i cant test it... i keep losing the signal. Sorry guys =/ its got a mind of its own. Ill edit this post to let you guys know if my recovery goes well or to hell haha

Edit: Did a recovery and once again all good =) same procedure as before. Changed my settings in CM10 to LTE/ CDMA/ Evdo, enabled mobile data, went to recovery, Wiped only Cache on CWM and just restored my back up with 4G running

Lito, are you saying that you've gotten data working on the CM10, or on another rom?

After tinkering some more I've found a little more info that might help you PG.
I've found that not only is some of the information wrong, but some is missing altogether (at least visually )

Looking at the phone's status in CM10 shows NO ESN, or ERI numbers at ALL, not even an area for them. Could be that it's not trying to gain access to them, thus creating this issue?

Also, when the network call service is running without the presence of data my Min still contains a colon where a 0 should be, and mobile network state is stuck at connecting.
Also, my phone number (although I can dial to my voicemail just fine) says "unknown)
So I think you hit the nail on the head by stating that it's not reading the sim card properly, and perhaps the APN's, and NID are all problematic at this moment.

I don't have any screenshots to show you from using 0312, at that time I was showing at least a partial ESN, MIN number was complete, forget whether IMEI showed and all 83 APNs show up in a separate APN manager, despite showing nothing in CM APN menu. I did try wiping out all of CM10's 83 APNs and then adding 19 of my stock ZVA's APNs to CM10. They were successfully pushed, but nothing changed in connectivity, and still couldn't see the new APNs to confirm they stuck. Wish I had more to give, hadn't had a chance to flash 0317 yet!

OH: Tinkering with settings would make IMEI, ESN, MIN and anything else showing go to all zeros or blank. Also, every flash of CM10 never showed my phone (MDN) number.

That worked! thanks!

No problemo. Thanks for helping all of us out by reporting back on VV3 flash. I'm keeping tabs on what radio recover methods work, VV3/VV4 seem to be the winners. I'm looking into a way to hunt down a one setting fix instead of having to re-flash/root/CWM, it's a pain to do all of that LOLm but I'm glad you're back online! Hope we'll have you back for more testing now. Enjoy your QuickMemo too, nice little feature only LG Motion had until recently :D

I meant how you were trying to dl the zip lol

Haha gotcha... ive been trying to download it through my Pc with my wifi connection. And i even tried with my phone (with its data instead of wifi) and yeah same results "file was not found"

Either way man, thank you so much for helping and for staying so active with us here !!! I donated some dinero for you, you really do deserve it my good sir :D haha seriously though, thanks a bunch!!

Press power > Reboot > click recovery, ok --- if you mean CM10. Stock, don't know without using reboot app of some kind.

I had this issue the other day. Phone wouldn't get past the boot screen, so was unable to use software to get into CWM. I read that you shouldn't use hardware buttons to launch CWM, but i fooled around and got into in it by using the Factory Reset combo (holding down power and volume down) then at that prompt i hit cancel and it went into CWM recovery.

Yes, LOL, i asked that same question earlier, and Spec2nirvash recommended trying out the VV3 firmaware, and i have to say MIND BLOWN.

My phone use to get UBER HOT, but after flashing VV3 i was on it for like 6 hours themeing and it didn't get hot, and i wasn't on the charger, and still had like 40% ish battery.

WHAT!?! Awesome. And with the new GO Launcher updates I can hide the ugly stock status bar and use widgets for time, battery, etc.

Never thought i'd could be happy on Gingerbread again, but i am actually enjoying it. At least until CM10 is stable. Possible a CM10.1 in the works?

Though I get reboots when using Rom Toolbox Pro's App Manager. I use to get them on Black Plague too, but i kind of thought it was a BP problem. Haven't gotten any reboots otherwise. Can use the other RTBP apps fine. Anyone else use RTBP on this phone and get any reboot issues?

I wrote to Jrummy about it before, but i know that app isn't just for my model so it's not a big deal. BTW, RTBP worked great on CM10, except when i tried to install a custom notification background. That when i got stuck at the CyanogenMod boot screen and had to manually go to CWM to restore a backup from just an hour or so earlier.

PG, have you tried a stock ROM rip of /system/bin/rild and its dependent libs? If not gingerbread's rild, perhaps from another MPCS phone with ICS or JB?

only other LG's on metro are the esteem (msm7x30), motion & spirit (msm8960), I can try one of those or the stock GB ril shyt.
