delivery time? (now "ships by March 29th")

Can anyone offer any info on how long it is currently taking to get the 16GB version?

I'm currently working out on a rig. Just as I got my first paycheck, the shipping time jumped to "ships by March 29th", which was a bummer because I'm stuck using the one public computer right now. I return home (New Orleans) April 1st, so now I'm not sure whether I should ship it home or if it's worth trying to get it here (we have a mailing address in Louisiana, and it then heads out on one of the helicopters).

Any thoughts?

Unfortunately, there is no real way to know. They will always give conservative estimates on the web, but will in fact ship as soon as they have the product. Mine was estimated as shipping in 1-2 weeks and they shipped it out the next day.

I would say if you are going to be home for more than a week, ship it home. If your time at home is a short window, ship it to the rig (but only if you trust the delivery system for the rig to keep it safe until you get there). Otherwise, ship it home and have someone forward it if needed.

Again, my advice is in the absence of details about either life at the rig or life at home. ;)
 
It said the same when I ordered mine, it would ship in 1-2 weeks, but I got it 2 days later.

I'm UK though, so it might differ over here.

Would there be someone to sign for it whilst you were offshore?
 
I got mine in 2 days as well when it said shops in 1_2 weeks. I'm in California. I ordered it a few weeks ago.
 
I'm in the same boat OP, ordered mine yesterday, we shall see how long it takes to get it :) I'm in TX
 
I orderred a 16gb yesterday. At that time it said "ships by March 22nd". My confirmation email came back saying it would ship by March 28th so I emailed Google to find out what was up with that. They said their system said it would ship by March 31st ! The website still said ships by March 22nd. So before bed I emailed and asked what was going on with the discrepancy in dates.

I woke up the next morning to a ship notification email and later in the afternoon my UPS tracking shows it will be here by the end of day tomorrow (Massachusetts). Later in the day I get a response back from Google CS saying that all they can see in their system is that it will ship by March 31st...sorry that is all they can tell at this time...LOL...This is my first experience with Google CS. Are they typically that much in the dark ?

This is exactly what mine said and I ordered mine last week. Got it a couple days later.

Like the above poster said, I also called CS to see what was up because the site changed to 2-3 weeks and when I ordered it said 1-2 weeks. Woke up the next morning to a shipped notification.

Just order it :D

Unless you've held a N4 in your hands, every video and picture on the web doesn't give even half the justice to this amazing piece of tech.

Because of this, that $384 bill was leaving me a little :/ at the time but as soon as I actually got it in my hands and felt it's POWA, all that went out the window. Best phone decicion I've ever made.

Google should take a page out of Nike's book and use the slogan "Just order it". Instead of the Nike swoosh it could have a flying Andy in the shape of a superman pose with arms extended. Pay me Google :D
 
Thanks all, I appreciate all the anecdotes and info. Tough decision, but I think I'm going to ship it home. I have to wait til Friday (3/22) now to purchase it and if it doesn't get here by Friday the 29th then I won't have a phone for the week I'm home.

Ahh, the wait will suck. Oh well. Now I just have to figure out what service to switch my number to...

If it helps, T-Mobile has a free SIM card activation kit, free 2 day shipping also :) I got mine pretty quick, gonna order another for the wifey

I hate waiting too but when it finally arrives it's THAT much more refreshing and exciting. lol.

Depending on your location, I would suggest ST. Hands down the best plan for the money. Or if you don't talk alot, the $30 5GB t mobile plan is a great option too.

Loving it so far. I'm excited to root, but I usually give a phone a while to get used to stock. That way differences are really pronounced after rooting and flashing a rom.

And tell me about it, I was home so I constantly checked the tracking info and every time I heard a truck I looked out the window.

Original poster here, figured I'd chime in that ordered early yesterday morning (Friday) and got an email that it shipped at 2:30this morning (Saturday). I should had it mailed to the ship... Oh well, it'll be sittin there when I get home in 9 days...
