Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

I don't know about you guys but I am not normally obsessed over a phone as much as I am over the EVO. I spend probably 6-8 hours looking at this forum a day. It's almost cruel to show us this really awesome phone and have all these advertisement everywhere, then turn around and say "wait till this summer". It's a catch "22" because I want the info ahead of time but I also want the phone soon after. I'm just being impatient I know.

I think you are being very reasonable ;)

If you get really bored, you could open MS Paint and make a drawing of your current phone's screen. And then a drawing of the 3.7" Droid (Nexus 1, Incredible) screen. And then make a drawing of the 4.3" beauty that is the EVO. And then shrink down a browser with ESPN.com (or Reddit.com, WOW.com, fleshbot (ha), pick your poison) in it and simulate what it would be like to view on your EVO.. Not that I know anyone who's done that...... just sayin'.

I was the same way with the Pre launch since I was getting tired of WM 6.5 and there were lots more options than there were 2 years prior. Now with yearly upgrades on Premier I get the feeling that I will get caught up in silly season on an annual basis now :)

Mainly all I've done is watch videos, read forums for news, and look at size comparisons. I'm tempted to trade my Pre for a Hero if I can just so I can get familiar with Android.

I think it is just the Desire with capacitive buttons on the face instead of hardware buttons. Good luck with Verizon plan prices. IMHO Verizon is a lot like Ben Roethlisberger, they are both big, well known and will take advantage of you.
I am a big Ben fan and steelers fan..been following Ben since he was in highschool..even watched him play when he was in highschool. Innocent until proven guilty. And they haven't charged him with anything. Sorry I know this is off the topic. Can't wait to get the evo.

Yeah I did see that one. I guess it's a matter of Android supporting the right kind of access to the phone's GPU and supporting all the OpenGL or whatever libraries it uses. I'm not a huge arcade-type gamer on my phones but any development is good. I tend to play that stuff on my PC on the HDTV from my couch and on my phones I play more puzzle/time killer games. Improved graphics and eye candy in general is always good for all kinds of applications.

Oh the stunning HD video really caught my eye but am a game addict. I've been using HTC / UTStar Comm PDA/Smart phones and got used to having a keyboard to play games and to navigate. I'm just wondering what will come in store with gaming and no key board. I've seen my buddies Iphone

when he plays games and its not very impressive. I'm hoping that HTC and android developers can pick up where apple is lacking.

When you have enough money it is hard to find you guilty. 1 girl maybe no, 2 looks bad, 3 = dirtbag. Anyway I hope the Evo comes out soon I am going nuts and I cannot get anything done since I am surfing the web all day looking for news! I still think this is going to wake a lot of people up. this phone has every thing you could want and more!

LOL...Nah, I know. I live in West LA, so I know the ones that are still open.

But the actual Mitsu North America Corporate (not even named that anymore) was in, I want to say, Stanton....Somewhere in OC. I've been to quite a few M.O.D. (Mitsubishi Owners Day) events w/ friends, when they used to have them there.

I have to say, I think the X is horrible looking, I don't know what Mitsu and Subaru were smoking when they redesigned the Rex and Evo. I'm glad Subie brought back the 4 door STi for next year.

Back on topic...:D

I can't wait for the N1 to drop on sprint. Cuz if it arrives b4 the EVO I'll get it for a 30 day trail run and then send it packin! I need more android in my life!

I was thinking about doing this too. Does anyone know if they do restocking fees/activation fees for this type of situation? Like would I have to pay to activate the N1 and then pay again to activate the EVO?

I may or may not do a Google search several times a day and filter results by "newest" and "past 24 hours". And now I've found this forum.

I was under the impression that the 30 day risk free trial was just for trying out Sprint. If you weren't pleased, you could return your stuff and stop being a Sprint customer. But if it works the way you think it does, and the N1 drops first, and we get a release date on the Evo...

I am thinking I could even take verizon for a spin with the Incredible and just tell my friends to only use my google voice #. Does big bad Red have a 30 day trail?

You can return any new phone within 30 days, just because your already on the network and upgrade or add a line and you don't like the phone doesn't mean you can't return it. All new phones come with a minimum of a 30 day satisfaction guarantee.

EDIT: Unless of course you rip it to shreds and then try to return it and get your money back. :)

I am not sure if this question has been answered yet but will the hot spot app on the Evo work while you are on a call?

I've considered that, but would it just put my account back to upgrade eligable when i take it back?

Hotspot app works like a router but uses the phones radio to get it's signal so as long as your connected to wifi or wimax you'll be ok 3g no go.

According to this (link below), HTC has stated you can't use 4G and CDMA simultaneously. No voice/data capabilities yet. But an update could fix this problem.
Sprint EVO 4G Will Not Have Simultaneous Voice/Data | Android Phone Fans

This tweet speaks differently.

Twitter / Sprint: @androidcentral Your story ...

Sprint replied to AndroidCentral, saying:

"Your story regarding HTC EVO simultaneous voice+data: Voice+Wi-fi=Yes, Voice+3G=No, Voice+4G=Still TBD, still being tested."
