Spare Note 2 battery and charger came in, for those power sessions when weather gets active.

Honestly, I bought it more for the stand part. The extra battery was just a bonus.

Oh...leave it to Treb to get the watering hole back on topic.... wait, it's a watering hole right? ..... Date night folks! See you in the morning.... (unless it's a bad date in which I will update you min by min lol)

I think T-mo's Un carrier plans may carry on down the line.

Monthly prices may go up a bit, but better then a stupid contract.

The only thing I don't get is why is a Nexus 4 off contract through TMo $100 more than through the playstore? It's not like they're paying a subsidy.

I wonder if they are aiming at the people who don't know much about GSM / HSPA / 3g / 4G bands

Or for people who think they are getting a deal. I suspect they are aiming the phone at people who do not yet have a contract or the funds to ditch their currant device.

It is a weird move, indeed, though.

I'd love to go no contract and get my own phone... ideally a nexus. But I can't live with 16gb storage and no LTE.

It's not uncommon for carriers here to also price the phones you get through them (even off contract) to be very expensive. I just buy through local online stores who get their stock from Hong Kong, where the electronics are cheapest

That is one thing that irks me.
The LTE is not a huge issue, as I stated before, before AT&T flipped the 4g on in my area, I was getting decent HSPA+ speeds, usually about 7mbps.

And, I much rather have a constant 7mbps over 30mbps that is only intermittent at best.

It always cracks me up when people get insane speed test, when it is nothing more then a spike at the time of their testing. I think the highest I got was about 50mbps or something like that. Figures I cannot find the dang screenshot. But the point is, it don't happen often.

Actually, this makes me wonder if those 50mbps are just spikes to create a quick buffer then drops (throttles) shortly after to a much lower speed.

Meh, just theories :)

We live in the same area AJ:p I've been eying ATT but need for the right phone to come out for me to jump. The locked bootloader on the VZW GS3 was the last straw... I won't buy another phone on VZW.

For the most part, I get decent connection. Unless I am at work. Since I transfered, I work in a hit or miss area indoors and my battery takes a hit. I suspect (hope!?) AT&T will put another tower up near Adams / Weld county. Then I should be set :)

Speaking of Verizon, I have heard that they have the slowest 3g service.

One reason I opted for AT&T was the extra HSPA + band. On verizon you are either 4g or, a very slow 3g connection. When I got back into verizon, my 3g speeds (and even my buddy when he got his much waited for iphone 5 (and later got a note 2)) I rarely seen speeds over 500kbps on 3g. Once in a while it would spike to over 1mbps. 4g speeds where decent, but my HSPA+ destroyed his iphone 5 in speed test. It was a bad area at work for verizon, now doubt.

I suspected that extra HSPA+ band would be useful, and I am glad I went that route.

Verizon, slow 3g, decent to great 4g, but if you don't have 4g, be prepared to wait... :yikes:
