So Google just randomly decides to lock random phone's bootloader for kicks?? Right >.> The Lg Nexus 4 comes completely unlocked so someone must be making the decision. It takes more effort to include a locked bootloader than an unlocked bootloader so someone HAS to be making the decision of which phones are locked or not. Plus we only see Moringcall Errors in LG PHONES I guess Google decided to go through all that trouble for Lg and make a locked bootloader because they had such a horrible response to unlocked phones like the Nexus 4/7/10 (ftr, all modes of the the N4 sold out the first day). Custom UI's such as Touchwiz and Sense are made by the manufacturer, so Lg does know what's going on with their phones.

I know for damn well that LG doesnt pass the device off to Google... If that were the case, every phone would be a nexus... I'm actually thinking about digging even deeper into the company after work. I WONT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER!!! haha. someone has got to budge. This phone is too powerful and been out wayyy to long to still be in Jail...

I added more to my previous comment because I couldn't leave my answer like that lol. Please do, go Agent 007 status if you must. I mean Lg already has the method to unlocking the phone because who the heck looks something and then doesn't have the unlock method?? How would they fixed bricked phones if they got any? I bet they would write a letter saying "Dear Customer, We are sorry to inform that we have locked this phone so strictly that we can't unbrick it. Excuse us for the inconvenience."

Yeah, it kinda seemed to me like they wanted to beat around the bush and send me on a wild goose chase by telling me to speak with MetroPCS. But dont worry... Come lunch time I'm gunna climb that corporate ladder and find out exactly what it will take for the bootloader to unlock. I'm also gunna see if i cant get my hands on the Dev. Edition of the Motion. LG has never been great when it comes to support on the Software side of things.

You're talking to the wrong LG, my friend. We want LG korea, they are the ones who designed our phpne and its bootloader

They have a few methods to restore devices, all w/o unlocking a thing, it simply reflashes everything. ;)

Good luck on that dev edition motion, doesnt exisit. ;)

Wow what a crock of bs from a poorly informed individual. Google has nothing to do with this device they just make the software that LG has basterdized then loaded on here...

I am not sure
It seems its the removal or tampering of certain stock google apps that also can screw your phone up.
Google has something do with something somewhere somehow

i think, rather that LG has designed their bootloader to require certain google apps be installed.

Yes that seems obvious but google is in on it.If google updates those apps, the updates have to meet certain requirements i would think

Google apps such as the framework are necessary on the system level for an android device to function properly, but the bootloader is completely separate from the android os itself. Google writes the code for android and makes it available to anyone who wants it. OEM's such as Samsung, LG, HTC, Sony, etc take the code and modify it to integrate their own in-house software and/or hardware to make the device function properly. Android is natively written to function on nexus devices and nexus device alone and without OEM changes, it will not load on a device. LG writes the code for the bootloader of their device and them alone. Carriers have been known to request that bootloaders be locked, as in the case with Verizon asking Samsung to encrypt the bootloaders on the GS3 & Note2. Often times you you find carriers and OEM's blaming each other as to who locked the device in order to keep us running in circles.

I suspect that the bootloader simply looks for the PRESENCE of apps with the appropriate name, and process name.

Unless Google makes fundamental changes to those apps (such as when they renamed Android Market to Google Play) the specific version likely doesn't matter at all to the Morningcall

as far as i can tell it checks for the size of .so files for certain apps
thats what i get from lastkmsg log after a boot
