I'm definitely NOT preordering. I'll be in line to get mine when the store opens. I'm not waiting for a 6pm delivery with my luck...

Does it have the capability to do so? We've seen that it does. If so, do you know if a simple firmware update will activate it?

Possible via software. I don't think we'll know till someone tries.

As of release, there is NO 720p recording.

Can I order the Verizon insurance thru BB? Also, will BB port my number? Will I be enrolled in the NE2 program thru BB?

To keep it simple: No different than going to a Verizon store (except you save $100 rebate delay). Like other's, Verizon calculates a certain percent not turning the rebate in as part of their revenue.

When you sign up for the preorder the email you are sent states YOU WILL GET IT ON THE 29th.

Really? Where does it say that? In the e-mail I got, it says:

"Pre-orders placed online before 4pm local time on 4/28 will be delivered 4/29"

It leaves the warehouses on 4/29, but we may not get it until May!

Unless I missed something?

So, wait, is the FM Radio out? I mean I'm sure we could root it out, but I'd love to have it all clean and fresh with the FM radio in there. Still: ZOMG IT'S REAL AND IT WILL BE MINE. :)

Hey anon, can you explain (briefly)... would't 'n' be way faster, and thus way better?

Thanks!

N is faster but the processor on the phone isn't capable of handling speeds which N can offer. It will however improve the range of the wifi. That would the only realizable benefit at this time.

I am not in a contract, Month to Month.
Ok, so getting a smart phone from a current dumb phone would be as simple as getting a new phone. If you are eligible for NE2, you get a discount on the Inc. If you aren't, then you pay the 1 yr, 2 yr, or non contract price, depending on what you want. Keep in mind, you will be hit with at least a new data fee of $29.99 a month for smartphones, on top of your talk time fee.

See this is what I'm saying...They claim that, but knowing them they'll screw it up and it won't be delivered until Monday. Since they'll offer it as "free shipping" you won't get anything back for them failing to do as promised. Now we need store info, if there will be early openings or not.

Just my personal 2 cents, but it's a feature that has, on it's best day, minimal value on a cell phone. Other than some minor power efficiency benefits there's aren't use cases for phones demanding enough where you need the throughput provided by N. There are also some distance benefits to N but i can't imagine where it would be so crucial...my home is in excess of 5k SF and i use a G router and have no issues anyhwere. Furthermore, the phone's processor and bus can't handle the throughput that n provides so the device is still the bottleneck. Bottom line, in my opinion, it's one of those marketing things...N is newer therefore it must be better, but unless you're streaming 1080p content between rooms in your house (no a phone use case) it's pretty irrelevant.

I am absolutely picking this thing up on the release day. Now I just need to decide if I want to pre-order and skip the mail in rebate or pick it up in-store first thing in the morning....

There have been two stories to this floating around this massive thread. If it is pre-ordered, is it delivered on release day? Some say reps have said release day, and others have said release day +1. I hope it's release day (they would overnight it on the 28th) so you'd have it on the 29th.

This should answer any questions concerning delivery time:

Next day delivery, have on release day.

Today is a good day.

For a second, I thought I was looking into a mirror. Truly a good day indeed. OK, Anon, how long did you know before you posted?

"delivered" implies fedex/ups guy will be knocking on your door the 29th. That is why there is a 4pm cutoff time the prior day. :) Verizon ships Next Day Air
