So I got money says someone already asked this, but I couldn't find it in the past 4 pages.

The press release says b/g wireless. What happened to the N?

the "n" was an unconfirmed rumor that somehow people started believing even though the wifi certification clearly showed that there was not an "n" certification.

All indications are 802.11n was a typo. There's no confirmation that it's on the device and the current info only lists a/b/g.

Whoa, 802.11a? That's a totally different frequency from b/g/n... is that another typo?

I'm not that old and am a bit stockier... but thank you.

Edit: I saw that it was discussed, but not if it is final and law
It was never independently confirmed, and was probably the result of a typo or laziness on some technical writer's part that propagated through spec sheets until it was finally caught. We would have known if it had N since it had to pass through the FCC and wireless accreditation groups.

I'm going to take a chance since all the pre-orders are getting to people on day of release to wait until I see if I can get it earlier at BB, like the 25th.

The pics a few posts up show no LED or prox sensors on the top front of the phone, maybe they are just a rendering and not an actual "live shot" of the phone??

Ok. 2 questions. NE2 - When I pre-order what will I have to do? Anyone there for the Droid pre-order? Will it be available midnight the 19th or later in the morning?

If I remember correctly, for the Driod it went live early am but not at midnight for the pre-order. Might have been as late as 6am (Eastern) but you could ask over at the Droid forum for more specifics.

No, it will be 199 for NE2 & New contract.

I don't think that's correct. I believe the NE2 comes off of the $199 price.

What is the deal on upgrading from a dumb phone to a smart phone? I am eligible for an upgrade, will I get additional discounts based on going from a dumb phone to a smart phone?

Quite possibly. They're really pushing for the swap to smartphones w/data plan. Try to haggle it either on the phone or in person. Though on the phone the reps weren't there normal sweet selves today. Took a fair bit of work to get them to correct my NE2 mistake.

So pre-order means what exactly? That we can get them right away? Or it is shipped when they have them?
If you don't get it right away, I'm not sure I see the point.
Can someone of a higher power answer?

I still want to know if we pre-order if we'll get the phone on the 29th, or Verizon will ship the phone on the 29th?

OR...

Will we be able to pre-order for in-store pick-up on the 29th?

Pre-ordering has no advantage for most it would seem.
Pre-order and wait for the FedEx man ~sometime~ on the 29th,
OR
Just get my @$$ to the store that morning and have it when I want.

Did I miss something?

When you signup for the pre-order on VZW site the email they send you states in it that if you order before 4pm on 4/28 you will receive it on 4/29

Yeah ^^^ that. Don't know about in-store pickup but according to the email and I think the confirmation page, VZW clearly states that you'll RECEIVE it on the 29th.

As to why online vs instore...there are numerous reasons for me. Likely instant vs mail in rebates=less money out of pocket and no worries about the rebate getting screwed up or lost. Plus I don't really want a visa rebate card. I KNOW I'LL get my Incredible. I don't have to worry about lines, stock running out, and taking possibly hours out of my day to wait around for the VZW reps to get to me. Like others have said, our VZW store is a madhouse on any given day during off hours and unlike some of our forum VZW workers who seem to care about tech stuff and being in the know the VZW reps at my local store have been completely underwhelming (with the exception of the one time I was able to speak with the store manager). But I don't want to stress for 10 days wondering if I can line up early enough to get one. Especially with the now millions of views this forum has had, I think it could be really popular. Fedex usually delivers morning to noon here and I'm not sure I'd be out of the store w/ my phone much before that on launch day. For me, it's just all around easier. They bring the phone to ME! No fuss, no stress, no worries, no lines. Plus, the more that reserve it, the better idea they'll have of how many units are needed etc.

i was due for ne2 on feb 28th and so if you preorder online and ur due for ne2, u think it will ask u and tell u that youll have the discount and have the phone for $99?

Yes, depending on your current price plan and how much of a NE2 you have. Click upgrade on your online account and you'll see how it takes off the instant discount and then an additional NE2 discount.

Stupid question, but how much will it be when it comes out???

Sorry, but did you read any of the info and press releases at all? Or any of the past few pages of the thread? $299/new 2 year contract minus $100 rebate (possibly given in the form of Visa rebate card, unsure what they'll do online, hoping instant) then any NE2 taken off that price.

why the hell are we drum rolling? We waiting on something else?

Yes, another annoucement from Anon

Swype.....nuff said.

Exactly.

I just wanted to verify that I don't need to be on an individual plan because I'm on a family plan out of contract and eligible for upgrade. I can still get the Droid Incredible and stay on my family plan right? I was reading the press release and it didn't mention family plans or upgrades at all. Thanks.

No, you can be on a family plan and get it. Each line is kind of treated separately. No problems w/ that.

i wonder if you can turn off friendstream... since i dont use any social networking sites

As someone else said, just remove the FriendStream widget. Remember, this phone has SenseUI so it's all about YOU ;)

so the launch package still says 16gb micro sdhc :( is that now set in stone??? no 32gb option?

So you can only use up to a 16 GB Micro SD card in it? Is that what I'm hearing?

If 16gb works, 32gb should work :) probably listed at 16gb, since that is the current highest that it was tested with (32gb just was launched).

Prices for em' will be high for a while, though.

What he said ^^^^ 16gb is the largest card currently available on a wide scale at affordable prices. 32gb has just recently come out in the micro sdhc format and a lot of folks don't even know it's available. As a specification, ANY device that is SDHC compliant should be able to read ANY SDHC card up to the maximum that specification is able to support which is 32gb. It can also read the SD card specification which goes up to 2gb (and some 4gb cards though most 4gb are SDHC). The newest spec which has recently been agreed upon (back in 2009) is SDXC. That spec has a maximum of 2TB per card. Those cards are just beginning to trickle out and I don't think that there are many devices out yet that can take advantage of it. SDXC devices will be backwards compatible w/ SDHC and SD formats as well. Sorry, end of rant. Just tired of seeing this question soooo many times on this thread.

Is this really a point of concern? I could be wrong, but isn't 802.11g is 54mbit/s? That translates into almost 7 megabytes/second transfer rate. Would you really need more than that on your phone?

Here's a thought for all those concerned about pre-order vs. stores: on 4/19, pre-order it online. If you can't take it any more on the 29th cuz it's taking too long, go to the store and get one. If you never accept the FedEx pkg, you won't be billed for it and you'll have your phone in your hand! Even if someone is home, you can choose to refuse the delivery or just not answer the door.

I don't mean to be hard on you, but that is a ridiculous piece of advice.:( You create a bunch of useless, inefficient work for a lot of people in the whole process of delivering and returning that phone. You must be union.:D
