Root [RECOVERY][EVO4GLTE] TWRP 2.6.1 with on-screen keyboard!

2.4.3.0 is out, wonder if it is a good idea to jump to it? went to 2.4.2.0 before I read this stuff. wish I could find a bootload version of 2.4.2.1, actually. I have looked but have had no luck.
 
i'm gonna hold off until some more guinea pigs:p try it out before i update. i'm still a little gun shy with twrp after my bad experience with it on my og evo.....but go ahead an give it a go and let us know if it bricks your phone or not:p:D
 
I remember that! Not fun times.

I am already on the 2.4.2.0 version, made a backup nand with no issues. i never wipe with it though, well, except the caches. I use a superwipe I came across, not TWRP for my wiping. Not really even sure what to wipe with it and leave my sd card intact. :o so I just use the superwipe, except for roms that have aroma that will do it, I just use one or the other.

Think I will hold on this one myself and see what folks have to report... :)

CHANGELOG for 2.4.3.0:

-Fixed 2 bugs related to restore, one dealing with mknod failures (by bigbiff) and one dealing with restoring hardlinks (by Dees_Troy) NOTE: If your backups weren't restoring correctly in earlier 2.4.x versions they should restore correctly now. Hopefully you didn't delete those backups. If you're still having problems, run the restore, go to advanced and copy log, then give us the log. Complaints without logs will be rightfully ignored.

-Added a scroll bar to file selectors and listboxes courtesy of Tassadar

-Added libblkid for more accurate detection of file systems and can now detect exFAT properly thanks to bigbiff

-Added a screen dim effect 2 seconds before screen off on some devices

-Finally fixed file selector crash (one of the joys of working with multi-threaded software)

-Fixed loading of screen timeout setting during startup

-Improvements and bugfixes to screen timeout code

-Fixed persistence of the 24 hour / military time setting
 
Anyone hear anything about this new version?

I can't find the older version, concerned about Viper's experience, don't want to jump out of the frying pan into the fire. :p

Go to their fastboot flash img file download, monkey the url for the version you want. If it's there, that's how to get it. That's where my previous version links came from, but note, they don't stay around forever.

Between my red work here and the flu, I haven't been able to try the latest, but I've been happy to guinea pig TWRP all along, this will be no exception for me. Personally, I can't wait to try it out.

I'm going to update to the latest as well, probably tomorrow. I don't think I'll get to it tonight.

I'm fighting something myself EM, haven't felt 100% last few days. I can't stop sleeping on top of it. Really looks bad when I fall asleep at lunch while on a jobsite. :(

Any problems installing this through Goomanager?

On phone at work, think it was DragonSlayer posted a warning about that. Probably phone specific version. Soft brick was mentioned!

Im the same way. I dont like when developers include it in the rom. Just one more thing to uninstall.
 
ah, you old school guys... :)

I usually freeze goo if the rom comes with it, but it sure is handy for updating the recovery... like magic!

Just read where it was softbricking some phones updating via goo. don't know enough about it to know if it is just that device or what.

I'll do a little digging now that I am at home on my pc.

so far so good i just used it to make a nandroid backup and flashed jamieg71's carbon rom. love the new menus. not so keen on the wiping menu. you have one option besides the advanced wipe feature. but other then that it seems to work fine. i do not know if this was all on the previous update, but i was coming from 2.4.0.0 so......
 
I updated using Goo Manager. (Yeah, I know. Sue me. :D)

Also, enhancement request - main Wipe button (same as factory data reset), may not be the one wipe we'll all use. Personally, I've not done that in forever. I wipe cache and Dalvik regularly though, pretty standard yeah? Anyway - love the new enhanced wipe setup, but won't mind two buttons ahead of that - the Wipe you have, and the cache+Dalvik one. Anyway - many thanks for mighty fine update, thanks for listening!

The buttons to get to the name and storage (internal or external) are bit cramped for my tastes - but - they seem to work ok as is.

Need to go enter that on their github issue tracker. :o

With Goo Manager you spend less time offline updating.

Uptime - every SECOND counts!

So long as you're fluent with fastboot flashing recovery - it's ok to use Goo Manager.
 
I updated lazily with GooManager too. Lol. It was easier than picking up my laptop, opening a browser and going to their site. Granted it's not easier by much, but I'm lazy.

I love the zip queue soooooo much. I was wishing for a zip queue literally a day or two before version 2.5 came out. Thankfully my prayers were answered.

yep dustwun is correct it has been there for quite some time. the advanced wipe feature is a great idea. however, i would never do the regular wipe.
