Tragedy - two explosions at the Boston Marathon

would love to see some context on that before weighing in..... which press conference are you referring to?

I just watched the one from earlier today and then the one from this evening..... neither had FBI present and I must have missed that line of questioning if it was made

perhaps there was a 3rd conf. that I couldnt find online yet?

if anyone has a link

Edit: found the referrence

Dan Bidondi from InfoWars asked "Is this another false flag attack staged to take our civil liberties?"

infowars has a conspiracy theory video out already about it

I didnt watch the video.... but from reading it appears to question several things...... like why was there a Facebook page expressing sorrow and grief posted on 4/13....... why were there so many bomb sniffing dogs on scene already and running nonstop "drills"..... etc etc....... the normal conspiracy theory stuff you would expect from them

although I do have to question one thing about it all....... if there were bomb sniffing dogs within feet of the bombs..... as video clearly shows.... and the police commissioner also stated...... why the hell didnt they find the bombs?

either way this Bidondi clown is clearly an idiot.... and while there is probably a time and place for everyones questions to be asked........ this was not it...... these guy have serious work to do and are under a lot of stress and pressure right now..... they dont need some moron floating stupid theories while theyre trying to get information out to the public

I'm so sorry to hear of this tragic loss of life and limb for the innocent victims, and of humanity for the perpetrators.

My thoughts and love go out to all affected by this. :(

I hope they catch whoever did this before before another attack happens. This world is out of control!!!!

did anyone else hear about the guy that was proposing to his girlfriend as she crossed the line? There are rumors that she is among the deceased. I hope those rumors to be false because that would just be terrible for that man to lose his love in such a precious moment.

They have given out the name of the 8 year old.. and his story, he was waiting at the finish line waiting to give his father a hug when he crossed. That is just sad to hear something like that

I know I said my prayers last night, but much of the damage has already been done, it is now a time for recovery and repair. I wish all victims of this a speedy recovery and hope that they can find peace with themselves.

I hope the investigation goes well and they are able to bring whoever to justice. I don't even want to know the motive, I just want justice

heard from my friends ..everyone is ok..one crossed the finish just minutes before the first blast...the other decided not to run this year for the first time in 5 years! One of my friends who I knew was not running this year , but has in the past... she has two young son's ...they are having a difficult time... so confused, scared and traumatized they don't want her to run ever again:(

I just can't believe there are monsters out there that could do something like this....I just ..can't...grasp such evil and cowardice.

My heart and prayers to all....

It's horrible I come home home after school hearing about this event. Grandma just told me there were bombs that went off.

Martin Richard was standing near the finish line to cheer on family friends running the Boston Marathon on Monday, when an explosion took his life. He was 8 years old and in the third grade. He is being remembered as a vivacious boy who loved to run and climb. "No More Hurting People"

My wife's Aunt, who runs Boston every year, was running this year with a stress fractured ankle (we runners are crazy...) and did not finish in her normal time. She would have completed the race about 20 minutes before the explosions, but was still on the course, about 10 to 15 minutes away from the finish, when they happened. Her husband (my wife's Uncle) was waiting in the family waiting area, across the street from the explosions. Both are fine, met up and are home (they live in Boston).

I just found out that my brother-in-law was there, and was just a few feet away from the second explosion. He sent an email this morning; this is what he reported (slightly edited to remove personal details; obviously, he got the trash can detail wrong):

This is completely Nuts. If you have seen the Facebook photo of [the restaurant] Forum, that is where I was watching the race from. The second explosion knocked me over and my ears are still ringing. It was insane. I became really mad. All I wanted to do was help. There was a guy who was dazed and wandering around the street. His jeans were completely shredded, there was a hole in his calf that was bleeding profusely. I grabbed him and he asked me if he was going to die. I looked him over and told him no. I told him to sit down. While I was helping him to the ground in the middle of the street (he wouldn't go near the sidewalk, the bombs were in the trash cans) two off duty firemen and and a police officer took over for me. I continued to walk to find my friend who was volunteering at the finish. He was ok, so as I walked to meet him, I ran into a girl who had just finished and was shivering. I asked her if she was ok. She was looking for the Copley Marriott, had no idea where it was, had no phone, it was with a friend at the finish, had no warm clothes. I instantly gave her my fleece jacket and started walking her to the Marriott. We met up with her friends and she continued on with them. What a ****** up day. It was truly uplifting to see so many people doing so much good.

I made it home safely with my friend. Thank god for good friends.

I live about 35 miles from Boston, and I've been running now as my main form of exercise for 30 years next month. I've run a couple of marathons, though never Boston, but I have watched a few Bostons, some from the area where the explosions happened. This hits close to home. It would have been far worse if the explosions had happened an hour to 90 minutes sooner, as the area would have been even more congested and there would have been far more people there, plus so many far away from the finish.

Caught the last part of the first question from an unidentified member of the press at the Governer's press conference. "Is this another attempt to curtail our civil liberties?" In regards to the heightened Police presense and bag checks that will go into affect. What a complete a-hole. What the heck else is the government supposed to do? Just act like nothing happened? I can barely believe the callousness of that question. Governer Patrick replied No and turned the podium over to the FBI. I'm not posting anything else on the subject. I just wanted to express my disgust at thinking like that at this tragic time.

That's almost as bad as the Westboro Baptist Church comment on Twitter.

hey guys, thank you all for the support :D I am a Bostonian! And it shows now more than ever!!!! thankfully none of my friends or family were in the area, but sadly there are a few people I know who had friends/relatives in the incident.. so my wishes to those families come along with all your blessings!! :D

the day will be marked down in history..

The mother and six year old sister of Martin Richard, the eight year old boy who was killed, were also severely injured. Reports are that the mother has a brain injury and the little girl lost one leg, and could possibly lose the other. The girl is/was an Irish step dancer. I feel so bad for that family. That's just too much for one family to deal with.

I'm strangely devastated today about this whole thing.

I have one child, a son, and can't begin to fathom the pain one must endure losing his and her child.

I'm in deep prayer y'all.

I was.

I still can't get over the scope of it. I saw 9/11 as it happened (on the idiot box in a pub) and that didn't affect me as much as this has. Can't explain why, it's just how I am at the moment I guess...

Up until I saw that post and picture, TBH I never actually gave it much thought. I only saw what happened on China Central TV, in Chinese, as a foreign news story. Plus whatever I read on the BBC website.
