The mother and six year old sister of Martin Richard, the eight year old boy who was killed, were also severely injured. Reports are that the mother has a brain injury and the little girl lost one leg, and could possibly lose the other. The girl is/was an Irish step dancer. I feel so bad for that family. That's just too much for one family to deal with.

Sorry to quote my own post, but I can't stop thinking about this. I really hope the mother is able to recover. That little girl has lost too much already.

I had not heard that yet :( that is so sad. Any word on their father?

2 days have passed since the occurrence and it has not become any easier for anyone. The investigators have some strong base evidence to trace back to the origin of the bombs. But even solving the case won't stop the emotional pain caused by this.

I just learned that a coworker of mine was going to run this year, but ended up being too busy to actually do it. He had been training non-stop for the event.. crazy how things like that can happen

The father was a spectator, but he is ok. Hard to imagine what he must be going through.

A couple more political posts have gone. I'm pretty sure Early wasn't joking when he said that sort of thing didn't belong. Please respect staff wishes and use this thread to pay tribute to those affected.

Any issues with that, hit me up with a PM.

Hell, mine wasn't even political and was still deleted...

The other two deceased are

Krystle Campbell - 29. She was with a friend waiting for her friends boyfriend to finish so they could all get a picture together at the finish line.

23 - a Boston University grad student from China family wishes to keep name private at this time.

May the families find peace in mourning their loved ones.

It quoted and responded to another that was removed for the stated reason, so it had to go too.

Speaking as someone who grew up seeing horrors inflicted on innocents in Belfast, Enniskillen and Omagh, this brought back many unpleasant memories. My prayers, such as I can offer, go out to all those affected. :(

the bastards!
just pisses me off...

my thoughts are with their families, friends, and my fellow Americans.

I'm listening to the Boston PD scanner and reading tweets from people on the streets so what I'm about to say is "unofficial":

People are saying a hospital has been locked down and that federal judges are entering the courthouse. I'm wondering if they are clearing the courthouse for a suspect? Possibly injured? I dunno? The information on Twitter and on the police scanner right now is confusing and constantly changing.

"Federal courthouse evacuated; hundreds outside. People are being pushed back from building. Coast Guard and police boats in water. The courthouse is where a large contingent of media had gathered for an expected appearance by the suspect in Marathon bombings,” The Boston Globe continued to say on their Twitter account.

What is going on?? I'm a ham radio operator so I'm gonna connect via EchoLink to the amateur repeaters out there and see if I can't hear some more radio traffic.

Before the evacuation, police and reporters converged on the federal courthouse amid reports of an arrest. A law enforcement official briefed on the investigation told The Associated Press that a suspect was in custody. The official, who was not authorized to divulge details of the investigation, said the suspect was expected in federal court. But the FBI and the U.S. attorney's office in Boston said no arrests had been made.

I sure hope no one is playing games with the emotions of the victims and their families.

It looks more like the AP made a terrible mistake and jumped the gun with improper information, poorly sourced. News outlets shouldn't make mistakes like this, but I still think that we should forgive them, and hope that they learn from it.

So was there actually a bomb threat? Or were they just trying to clear the public away from the courthouse?

OK, thread close now, we are straying off topic, lets respect the victims and move on, speculation is not called for in this thread. Now if a new thread wants to be created about speculation and politics that can be done in the PC&A section, respect to the victims and the people of Boston here, cheers

God bless the victims, and the people of Boston, our hearts and prayers are with you all
