Root root for vv4???

Hey Guys, I busted my old Connect that I bought last year on 5-24-12 and I had to go to Metro and get a replacement (Cost me 30 dollars) anyway I need to know if I can root this one?

Here are the specs on it

Model Number = LG-MS840
Android OS 2.3.6
Kernel Version = 2.6.35.11-perf lge@android-build #1
Build Number GRK39F
SW Version = MS840VV4
HW Version = Rev. 1.0

I'm going to be really upset if I can not root this thing, I have had a rooted phone for a year now and I just wouldn't know what to do if I can't root it.

Thanks for any info that you can give me.

currently you have to cab back to vv3 to root.

Hey PG, what's up man? How do I do that? Can you hook me up with the link to the post on here with instructions? It is much appreciated! I just hope I can get it figured out, do you have any files that you can hook me up with that would make it a little easier for me? I am still learning about all this stuff....

What is the big difference between vv3 and vv4?

BTW, How is CM10 coming along? :)

Woo Hooo! I got it, I went from vv4 to vv3 but the Baseband Versions have changed, the vv4 reads "SW_VER 1 [Sep 8 2012 12:34:54]
now the vv3 Baseband reads "SW_VER 1[Aug 11 2012 11:08:10]. I guess that is right huh?

Now to Root the vv3.... wish me luck! LOL

Well it will not root vv3, what am I doing wrong?

Here is the errors from run.bat

Yes it can. Do a factory reset and run root exploit again ;)

Is that why I keep getting the failed to write errors?
So I can use the root app that I rooted my first connect (back in july of last year 2012)?

I will give it a try in about an hour or so. Thanks for the reply man! You rock!

YES!!!! That worked! Thanks man, someone should put that little bit of info in the Rooting section. It was driving me insane that I was told vv3 can be rooted and it wouldn't root! LOL!

So how about the custom ROMS will they all work with VV3? Just making sure so I won't softbrick my new LG Connect (Again)....

No problemo :D All of the custom ROMs are ZVA based, and some guys here have been flashing the VV3 baseband files with them.... and some running into trouble doing so. You'll have to ask around LOL, I haven't tried that yet.

Miami's is vv3 based just a slimed version of it

Man that really stinks, I hate this stock stuff.... I need my version 2 or my Broken out Roms back. Cry.....

I can still use Holo launcher with vv3 though right? What's the best easy to get rid of this bloatware, Titanium backup or something else?

I use root explorer to delete the bloat APKs and their relative .odex files.

Yes you can use Holo Launcher.

Dracconus has a bloatware list and a bloatware stripper app in the Connect ATR stickies section. I think I used the stripper app with VV3, can't remember though :( So with that said, try at your own risk!

You can do anything that you did running ZVA. Only difference is VV3 is the firmware LG originally assigned to the MS840V model ;)

Hey, I installed ROM manager will that work with vv3? Can I boot into the recovery and it wont boot lip loop?

Guys, today my phone stopped working again. What happens is that the touchscreen stops working I can't unlock the screen or select any buttons or anything, this is what happened to my other phone (that I had for almost a year with the same sd card) 4 days ago and now this one did the same thing. I got another replacement today from Metro PCS but the guy there said that I must have a virus or malware on my micro sd card that is making this happen he said to erase my card and start over but I have a 32GB card and I hate to do that I have a bunch of stuff on it. Is there a PC app that will scan my card and all the archived files from Titanium backup, videos, pics, etc and let me know what is the problem? I am even scared to put my card back in my phone until I can scan it somehow. This really blows! It must be something that I added probably a week or so ago but I would have no idea what it would be.

Could it be the Android App SuperSU cause after I root it I change the superuser app to superSU or could it be Juice Defender or the profiles that I set up in ROM Toolbox to save my battery cause both phones acted up after I did this http://androidforums.com/connect-4g...p-guaranteed-drastic-battery-improvement.html

Any suggestions will be great! I'm about to downgrade again to vv3 and root my phone and then I will check back on here.

Thanks guys!
