Rumor has it, the s4 bootloader is locked on at&t so probably across the board.

Not good. Note 3 will probably follow suit.

Way to look out for my safety, Samsung.

No offence intended AJ, but with you, it could go either way, either it will put you off, or spur your determination to tinker, I would hazard a guess at the latter, but thats just one more potential area to go wrong.

Are you giving serous thought to getting an S4? Out of need, want, or pure curiosity?

My post was more of a general announcement and concern of the openness of android and how more and more handsets are being locked down.

Once again, I can see why since I have bricked my note 2 several times. Other people would have been inclined to return costing money.
 
Yeah, true.

I think it would be good if they would allow some "advanced" features as a standard, and then locked whatever they want. You'd just have to look at the top 5-10 reasons for people rooting. If common things come up, like allowing the CPU settings to be changed, include it as standard so it's one less reason to root. Same for other root only actions.
