Yes! You can go to your MyAccount on 'verizonwireless.com' and activate a phone by entering the 'ESN' (behind the battery)... You can just switch phones doing that. I heard you have to wait 24 hours after buying a phone to switch it though... Hope this helps!! :D

I know this, I do it all the time - I was asking if my husband would have to switch to a newer plan. :)

Alright- need a little help- My NE2 isn't available until 5/3... I've put in several calls to Verizon- the first lady (yesterday) said her supervisor was gone, but she would call me today (she didn't)- the second lady was a beeatch  and wouldn't help at all- the third lady (super nice) :)said she thought I should be able to, but said there was a note on my acct from the beeatch  earlier saying not to allow a change on the date...

Now I am screwed I think because of the beeatch  that I talked to this morning. :(

I have also emailed cust svc, but haven't gotten anything back except the autoreply....

I JUST WANT TO PREORDER THE INCREDIBLE!!!!

Any tips from anybody who's successfully changed their NE2?

Oh goodness. Went yesterday to new VZ store and the rep was like, no problem ma'am do you have a business card, I will make sure you get one as quick and they are available. He said he would sign me up and all, no cost! unlike BB who want $50
Just my experience.

so if I preorder online with verizon do they do the instant rebate or is going through best buy the only way to get the instant rebate? I would rather just do it with verizon but I would rather just drop $200 on this phone rather than $300 and wait for a rebate...money is a little tight right now.

If you order online with Verizon, then you get the instant rebate, not MIR. I think pre-order works the same way. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

OK, so I plan on pre-ordering The Inc on 4/19, does anyone know if they reevaluate my "corporate discount" when I sign the new contract? The reason I ask is that I'm still receiving a discount from a company I used to work for that recently went out of business.

My NE2 isn't up until 8/11 but I'm still allowed to do an early upgrade at the $199.99 price...why don't you just do that?? I seriously doubt that they would move your NE2 up as they would lose some money doing that...other wise is it really that big a deal to wait 4 days??

best buy doesnt know their ass from a hole in the ground is what ive come to assume.

i just called one a few minutes ago and they said the phone wont be on SALE till the 24th..

i called another one they said it was the 29th which is what verizon says it will be.

the third place i called said it wont be out till sometime in may

the 4th said they didnt have inventory dates and they couldnt check

the 5th said they are taking orders tomorrow but wont sell them till 29th

the 6th said they are doing preorders tomorrow and it will be on sale the 24th..

so yeah its pointless asking these guys whats what. just assume the 29th no sooner

It has to be a besty buy mobile and there are only like 20 in the country

Query the thread, I think it was yesterday someone posted that they got their date changed from June to take advantage of the pre-order. Very rare for VZ, I know they do not budge for our corporate account.

Is it possible for capacitance technology to use plastic on the screen? Seems like every capacitance touch screen I have ever used has been made out of glass.

Just did a little research on this. Apparently the Samsung Instinct HD is a plastic capacitive screen, so I guess it can be.

Not sure what you're talking about. Did you mean capacitive? As in "the DROID Incredible has an 3.7-inch capacitive AMOLED display"?

I'll be doing my pre-order through vzw and having it delivered to my work. We get daily deliveries before 10am on overnight shipments so it will be there first thing in the morning. Then I'll be able to let it charge fully at my desk without the temptation of playing with it since I'll be at work :)

Perfect! That's what we should use. Great find and great idea!
Actually, better would be to properly dissasemble the phone and use plastic bonding paint.. I would suggest Krylon Fusion... but I guess if you just want to try and fill in all of those holes with a paint pen... good luck :P

quick question... i want to preorder this phone from bestbuy tomorrow for $199.99 (my NE2 doesnt hit until july). I have a $100 giftcard though, so this seems like the logical move for me. However, after i get the phone I want to switch my phone number AND cancel my texting plan, I have GV (free SMS.. i cant keep paying $110 a month for a phone... and can deal w no MMS).

I heard Best Buy wont let you change your plan after you sign up?? or you get charged or something? can anyone validate that for me?

Keep trying guys. Try sending them an e-mail through your My Verizon account. I emphasized the fact that I've been with them since 2003 and that I was upgrading from a regular phone (ie. no data plan) to the smart phone (with the $30 data plan). Eventually you'll find someone willing to do it. :)

First of all, THANK YOU ntbeachnc!! This worked for me, and my NE2 date was the end of October, 2010!

Next, I've called *611 several times, and I got the same response as others (that if it was only a month or 6 weeks, they would do it, but that my date was too far away to move). This time, I emailed VZW through the "contact us" link on the web site. Today I got the following response confirming that VZW moved my NE2 from the end of october to 4/19/2010:

"Dear xxxxxx xxxxxx,

Good afternoon! It's always a joy to hear from long time loyal customers, especially those that have stayed with us as long as you have. I completely understand your need to purchase an updated device, and our phone line up has some great phones with amazing capabilities. My name is Amanda and I would be more than happy to assist you.

After reviewing your account I am pleased to inform you that we have changed your New Every Two upgrade date to 04/19/2010. You will be able to preorder the Droid Incredible on 04/19/2010 and use your New Every Two Discount in the amount of $100.00 as well. This change was made effective immediately, so it should only be about 24 hours before you can view the change online.

xxxxxx, I want to thank you for being the most important part of Verizon Wireless and for the great opportunity to assist you today. Your loyalty is greatly appreciated and I was glad to be able to change the upgrade date to better fit your needs. Should you have additional questions or concerns in the future, please do not hesitate to contact us by replying to this email.

Have a wonderful day!

Sincerely,

Amanda
Verizon Wireless
Customer Service"

Of course, this probably won't work every time, but it seems like if you ask via email, there is a much better chance that VZW will change your NE2 date. Good luck!
