Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

So here are the POSSIBLE surprises, if any of these come true i will be extatic, one or two of them i know will for a fact =]

1) More RAM/ROM. This is one of those facts. I said this earlier on and it was confirmed by HTC themselves. No specific number yet however I was told equal or better than incredible.

2) Super AMOLED-type display. There is some speculation that Apple is in discussions with Samsung to use their Super AMOLED Tech. Over time, if not now, HTC will create a "screen type" better or comparable to SUper AMOLED. We have no idea as of right now what the Evo will ship with as Sprint's website does not comment on anything but "A 4.3" screen. Suspicious? YESSSS!!!!

3) Android version? It was shown and via Sprint.com and other that it will come with 2.1. However a dicument surfaced a few weeks ago saying that it would come with froyo as seen somewhere (sorry i forgot details). Naturlly i called Dan and he explained to me this was becaue 2.1 was not designed to work with 4G. This was later confirmed that week. Now 2.1 would work on the phone just not to the potential a version of android that was capable with 4G could. 2.5 is looking like a real possibility guys. I dont know this one for a fact but why have a ferrari only go 60 right?

4) APPS APPS APPS. This is another fact. NOOOO 4G apps have been shown yet!!!! They have been slightly talked about and/or other NON-4G versions have been shown. Many 4G apps will be included!!!

Hope this cleared some things up

Jackson

My guess is the screen will be TFT. The guess is: the reason it doesn't specify what type of screen on the Sprint site is because, plain and simple, the average consumer doesn't know/care what type of screen it is, but DOES care about how big it is. So the 4.3 is the grabbing/selling point, not the type of screen. I'd obviously welcome a super amoled screen, but i highly doubt it comes to fruition.

But with that said, I've continually wondered what other surprises Hesse and Co. could be referring to when they said they "have a few other things up their sleeves" that we'll find out about soon. Android 2.5 would definitely be awesome, but i'm pessimistic that it could be ready to roll by late May/early June. Then again, I have no idea how long Froyo has been in development. Including an HDMI cable instead of headphones with every phone would definitely be helpful. Maybe a 16gig sd card included? 4G apps would make sense too since this would be exclusive to the EVO for now. A sub-$200 price would also be quite the trick-up-the-sleeve :)

Yeah Sprint, and most cell phone companies, really don't put full extensive specs on the sites anymore. And with this phone its not more apparent. I had to search this forum just to find out what the actual model of the Snap Dragon was in the EVO.

WOW. Guys are Evo looks so damn good right now. Here is the actual iPhone 4G. Engadget just posted it. It may be the udliest thing ever. Reminds me of my instinct gahh i hate that phone. Srsly tho the iphone 4 is an absolute unattractiec brick....GO ANDROIDD EVO IS AWESOME AYYYYYYY

I doubt that is the iPhone 4. It doesn't look like an iPhone.

she's saying that the CORRECT figure of speech is that you couldn't care less. a babe AND intelligent? i wish she was closer to chicago ;)

I don't think she would fancy your grammar. ;)

Eguy, I wouldn't doubt that it's not I mean it has the same home button on it and it's the next gen so it can look diff . its something if anything . i'm not saying it is cause first this was considered the 4G iphone :Could this be the fourth generation iPhone? . SO i mean who knows . I would like to see what it can do and look like . but idc to much about it just interested i guess since its tech . SOmebody said HTC should sue apple lols cause the link i provided says they took the single block of aluminum idea like the legend . if that even is the 4G iphone .

Aesthetics are strictly opinion, I have a 2G iPhone and I still think it is a great looking phone with the metal. Really these candy bar touchscreen phones have very little different about them, I don't know how you can say the iPhone looks like a brick. Personally my biggest gripe about the EVO is how the camera is not flush with the device, I really hate that. I love how my iPhone sits flat on the table.
The new flat back and aluminum around the sides is pretty sweet IMO.

But in the end these phone both look great and I am buying for functionality and unless Apple can some how one up the EVO, I'm getting the EVO.

The EVO will sit flush.

There is always the possibility of a "new/different" screen technology that Sprint and HTC may have been working on that no one knows about in the consumer market. Samsung is not the only company that can create new sceen tech, although I wouldn't hold my breath on this idea that's all it is, is an idea.

Not to burst your bubble but Spring and HTC aren't screen manufacturers. Just like Apple outsources its LCD screen. Samsung is in fact a screen manufacturer, so there is zero chance of Spring or HTC coming out with a new type of screen that no one has ever heard about.

Grammar isn't my strong suit...but could/couldn't care less is just a peeve of mine.

Hmm, I wouldn't expect that by reading your posts. Guess I was wrong :D.

just came from apple store. I put the sprint/evo page up on 4 big screens. 3 workers literally ran over to close the browsers. Good times

Can't say I haven't done similar things before :D. I particularly like microsoft.com haha.

1. Doubt any big hardware changes they cant afford any more set backs
2. Super AMOLED wont be happening on this evo unless they really want to push it back.
3. Would have to rewrite the 4g stuff if they moved on to 2.5. So they will keep it 2.1 and upgrade to 2.5 once the time is right

4. Glad 4g wont be effecting me

just opinions but hey they make sense. Only time will tell. Their training class supposdly has begun so next 7 weeks we shall see what more leaks will have for us.

I want to head down to the Pentagon mall in Washington DC which is just up the way from here and walk into the Apple store and start a random conversation about the EVO . So how about that HTC EVO . Then have a buddy of mines QIK it to see there reactions lols !

Thanks for pointing that out Jackson . I for sure knew yours was the real one cause the pictures were all beautified like they usually are when they are ready for a hands on . & yea that's why I didn't try and say I confirmed it . Even though I think the fake design is better . & if they could of stretched the screen all over that thing wooah .

I am curious if anyone has even looked up the FCC digits yet curious if thier any more info if its already FCC'd then evo better hurry up or once again an awesome sprint design will be ignored.

I didn't want to really pass this along yet because there is no other hard info for it to go on but i do KNOW that the Evo has passed through the FCC already and is being backdated so that no one can try and draw any info from it. This means the device is about 1 to 1.5 months away which is right within the time frame i have provided numerous times before

All im saying is that samsung is not the only screen manufacturer/creator. why shoot down ideas before reality proves otherwise?

which also means no hardware redesign can happen.... or will have to go through it all again. Since new hardware = new stuff for the FCC to test to see if its harmful or anything bad.

I think we all should just wait and see when it comes to screen . but it doesn't hurt to guess . see if this was a sprint forum it would of turned into an argument smh . i love this forum and site all together .
