I think that any current Verizon customer should definitely check the above link to save time and avoid frustration before heading over to a Best Buy (or any other 3rd party outlet for that matter, because similar rules apply). I know there has been a lot of back and forth of where to get the device, but depending on your situation, Verizon in-store or Verizon On-line may not just be the best option...it may be the only option.
The reason I say that is because unless you're 11 months into a 12 month contract or 22 months into a 24 month contract, you may not qualify for discount pricing for the device - or you may not even be able to upgrade through Best Buy at all. For me, I am 20 months into a 24 month contract, entered my cell and zip, and found out I cannot get my Incredible via Best Buy. If you've already hit your NE2 or currently are not under a contract, you should be good to go.
With the recent addition of the Droid Incredible, there has been a significant up-tick in web traffic there, so the upgrade checker may falter at times. But keep trying. It may save you some time in the long-run.

Do you work in a BB Store or Mobile Phone Store? I called the BB Store in Santa Fe, NM and they said they were not taking pre-orders and did not no anything about it.

ive hit my ne2 on Feb 28, 2010 for $100. So are you saying that bb should accept my $100 ne2?This has been posted here before: Upgrade Checker | Best Buy Mobile

So the testman site is showing free activation on 4/16-4/19. That's no fair when we can't preorder till the 19th.![]()
That's cool but doesn't seem to work:
"We’re sorry, but we’ve encountered a problem. We cannot access your upgrade status at this time. Please try again later or visit your local Best Buy Store."
"Account not found. Please review the information you have entered and resubmit. Thank you."
Cell Phones, Cell Phone Plans, 3G Smartphones, the Best Cell Phone Service - Verizon Wirelesscan you link to that?
I don't like that the checker is not secure.
It states I am not eligible for an upgrade. Although I did call Vz and they stated they had notated I would be. Stated if BB couldn't see it they could always contact Vz by phone themselves to verify it. Dunno how true that may be.

To those pre-ordering from bestbuy, you might want to reconsider. i got this when i emailed bestbuy customer service or whatever it is, here's a quote.
As far as the process goes, you would have to go in on the 18th or later, and pay a $50 refundable deposit. That preorders ensures that you are in line to get the Incredible. On the 29th when the phone is released, you would need to go back to the store to pick up the phone. The preorder that you place puts you in a line to get the Incredible. So, for example, if the warehouse ships the store 15 phones, and there are 20 preorders and you were preorder #5, you're going to be one of the first to get the phones, where as those who placed preorders 16-20 would have to wait a bit longer. Now, this is just an example, and can vary from store to store, but in general, this is how the preorder process works.
I still think it's pointless to preorder this phone, but that's just me personally. IMO you're all making way too big a deal out of it. No one ran out of the Droid, and that was MUCH more heavily marketed than the Incredible for weeks. I don't think any stores were even running low. I have complete confidence that I, or any of you, will be able to walk into your local Verizon store at any time on the 29th and buy this phone, as well as for the next few weeks. But hey, thats just my opinion.
I finally got an answer for ne2 at bbm! They said you CANNOT use ur ne2 for a new phone at bbm, which is super dumb, only at vzw. So yea im going to pre order online.
I just called BB and they said they DO do the NE2.. so you might want to doublecheck that for the guy that said BBM doesnt do the NE2 discount.
aw man now im confused and probably the rest of us too! i was gona to bb tomorrow and have my pre order refunded. please if someone would give us a definite answer, so we can all use our ne2
i dont think im gonna get much work done that day. actually i wont even be at work

There has been, to my knowledge, no FCC pass through of an iphone fourth gen, so the FCC sticker on the back is false.
