I think that any current Verizon customer should definitely check the above link to save time and avoid frustration before heading over to a Best Buy (or any other 3rd party outlet for that matter, because similar rules apply). I know there has been a lot of back and forth of where to get the device, but depending on your situation, Verizon in-store or Verizon On-line may not just be the best option...it may be the only option.

The reason I say that is because unless you're 11 months into a 12 month contract or 22 months into a 24 month contract, you may not qualify for discount pricing for the device - or you may not even be able to upgrade through Best Buy at all. For me, I am 20 months into a 24 month contract, entered my cell and zip, and found out I cannot get my Incredible via Best Buy. If you've already hit your NE2 or currently are not under a contract, you should be good to go.

With the recent addition of the Droid Incredible, there has been a significant up-tick in web traffic there, so the upgrade checker may falter at times. But keep trying. It may save you some time in the long-run.

I don't like that the checker is not secure.

That's cool but doesn't seem to work:

Do you work in a BB Store or Mobile Phone Store? I called the BB Store in Santa Fe, NM and they said they were not taking pre-orders and did not no anything about it.

A normal store! My store is definitely going to be taking preorders. They got all the paper work and the flyers ready to take preorders. In richmond, va btw.

It states I am not eligible for an upgrade. Although I did call Vz and they stated they had notated I would be. Stated if BB couldn't see it they could always contact Vz by phone themselves to verify it. Dunno how true that may be.

ive hit my ne2 on Feb 28, 2010 for $100. So are you saying that bb should accept my $100 ne2?

That's cool but doesn't seem to work:

"We’re sorry, but we’ve encountered a problem. We cannot access your upgrade status at this time. Please try again later or visit your local Best Buy Store."

"Account not found. Please review the information you have entered and resubmit. Thank you."

I would be patient with it due to recent traffic...if not, at least try calling their 1-800 number which is in the lower right. They have access to the same information. It's definitely just a suggestion. I personally haven't even been spending anytime worrying about what Best Buy is going to be doing because in my case, it's all moot.

Edit: I think that some of the reason it isn't able to pull account information up at this time is because Verizon's main site is currently having issues. Once that comes back up, the Upgrade Checker should function normally.

If you're more comfortable doing it, you can call the 800 number in the lower-right corner where they take your information, and provide the same type of report for you.

There should be some fine print down at the bottom of the Best Buy screen once you do that stating something to the effect of AT&T and Verizon having special upgrade "terms."

You'll definitely have to verify with a BB Mobile employee on that. I have heard that they will honor those, however it may not necessarily be an instant discount.

To those pre-ordering from bestbuy, you might want to reconsider. i got this when i emailed bestbuy customer service or whatever it is, here's a quote.

As far as the process goes, you would have to go in on the 18th or later, and pay a $50 refundable deposit. That preorders ensures that you are in line to get the Incredible. On the 29th when the phone is released, you would need to go back to the store to pick up the phone. The preorder that you place puts you in a line to get the Incredible. So, for example, if the warehouse ships the store 15 phones, and there are 20 preorders and you were preorder #5, you're going to be one of the first to get the phones, where as those who placed preorders 16-20 would have to wait a bit longer. Now, this is just an example, and can vary from store to store, but in general, this is how the preorder process works.

So, if this were to happen, could I can cancel my BB pre-order and take myself and my refund over to the closest VZW store? Will they let you cancel your pre-order and give you a refund?

I still think it's pointless to preorder this phone, but that's just me personally. IMO you're all making way too big a deal out of it. No one ran out of the Droid, and that was MUCH more heavily marketed than the Incredible for weeks. I don't think any stores were even running low. I have complete confidence that I, or any of you, will be able to walk into your local Verizon store at any time on the 29th and buy this phone, as well as for the next few weeks. But hey, thats just my opinion.

I'm not really worried they will run out, I just like the idea that somewhere out there is an Incredible reserved just for me :)

I finally got an answer for ne2 at bbm! They said you CANNOT use ur ne2 for a new phone at bbm, which is super dumb, only at vzw. So yea im going to pre order online.

I just called BB and they said they DO do the NE2.. so you might want to doublecheck that for the guy that said BBM doesnt do the NE2 discount.

aw man now im confused and probably the rest of us too! i was gona to bb tomorrow and have my pre order refunded. please if someone would give us a definite answer, so we can all use our ne2

My BB also told me that they will honor the NE2 discount. Though I neglected to mention mine is for $100 :D

:pi dont think im gonna get much work done that day. actually i wont even be at work:p

I am seriously considering taking off work on the 29th :)

I can't wait for this app to be developed.

Android may soon get Netflix app

That would be awesome.

Is the phone going to be ready for pre-order at 12:00am est or 12:00 pacific or central or North Korean or.......

Just imagine how thin that sucker would've been were it not for the camera and battery sticking out? You could've used it to slice cheese. Or kill people by throwing it like a ninja throwing star.
