Bump!

I called *611 this afternoon and was told that if you buy the phone through a verizon store the rebate is mail in but if you buy it online then it is an instant rebate. Can anybody confirm this being the case? The reason im asking is because most phones that you buy online from the verizon website give the rebate instantaneous just like best buy does in the store(also best buy confirmed to me that they do not accept the NE2 and will not price match it either) :(

This has always been the case. At least for the past 4+ years...

I can confirm that there is no rebate given at the store, it is a MIR. I can also confirm that the online rebate is instant, which is why I will buy mine that way. Regarding BB? I dunno.

I get a corp discount and they give the instant rebate when I buy at the store. not sure if that applies to all corp disc.

the salesperson always tells me 'because u have the corp disc, u get the instant rebate instead of the mir.'

I've read on HoFo before that it says it's compatible but when people actually try to activate the newer smartphones on ACII plans it still makes them switch.

Did you actually try to select any of the phones and go through the upgrade process? I didn't have to go through the whole thing. After the first step, the website told me that I had to change to one of their Nationwide plans. That's the only choice I had.

After finally getting back onto verizon's site tonight, I went through the process of upgrading to a Droid (up until "proceed to checkout") and it never said that I needed to upgrade my plan, so I think I'm good to go with the AC II plan. If not, I found out that there's an unadvertised loyalty plan that will keep my costs the same. The only difference then would be that my 2 lines which won't be on a smart phone would have data charged by MB instead of MOU, but they're just dumb phones anyway so that won't be a problem.

So wtf is that "FREE ACTIVATION 4/16-4/19" thing????? Did anyone find out???

It is only on testman for now so until it gets posted on the actual site then it is still up in the air. Doesn't make sense to have free activation on a phone you can't pre-order until the last day of that offer. Perhaps the date will change by a few days.

wtf? Phonearena is saying you can get your incredible on the 25th? I thought everyone was just now beginning to agree on the fact that no one is getting an incredible till the 29th (even though yesterday i was convinced i was getting one tomorrow thru bestbuy :P)...

The handset is expected to ship and be in Verizon stores on April 29th while Best Buy is supposed to receive the phone on April 25th. Seems like you can not only not worry about the rebate with Best Buy Mobile, but you might also get a 4 day head start on having the device in your hands.

Anyways, it's doubtful.

What he said..... except the fact that Best Buy SOMETIMES doesn't care for street dates and just releases their product once it gets into their hands. They usually honor the dates, but once in a while, they decide..... HEY, LET'S SELL IT NOW!

Even with big fat important flagship phones? hmmm... maybe a feature phone.. eh.. who knows?

I talked to the people in my local best buy today - according to them it will be the 29th and no sooner. Was hoping that tomorrow they would roll out an early release at BBmobile as I flew into LA tonight and could go to a BBmobile tomorrow. From what I'm reading that will only be a "pre sale" just like they are doing in regular best buys.

well if thats the case, maybe i'll hold out on preordering from verizon and see if anybody snags an incredible early from bestbuy.

Hopefully that will be me too. Going to walk into a store probably tomorrow to see if I can do a "pre-order" since I'm corporate.

On a happy note apparently my old company renegotiated and I get 26%. Here's hoping it applies to data as well since now I"m only voice. And I was thinking of lowering that to a $40 plan since no one ever actually speaks anymore
