Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

Nah that would be the internet radio and it still wouldn't be able to make calls outside the US since GSM and CDMA operate on a different radio spectrums. Dual band call radios have existed for a long time that's why I asked if it had one but what you are referring to is a dual band 4g internet receiver. Oh well one can dream. :)
Regardless of the nomenclature I used, Hesse said at CTIA that they would be able to merge WiMAX with LTE for the good of the industry and for the good of the users worldwide. If that were to happen, it seems like VoIP would become a viable option for making calls anywhere in the world where they have 4G.

THanks you soo much SP and Norril for backing me up!!!

Everything i said to you has been backed up by a person actually working for the company. The Evo was not a functioning phone at all and was just basically something to get Sprnit customers to stay with the company. This is why noone except HTC employees were allowed to use the device.

And waht is this bull crap about people worshipping the ground i walk on?! The people here in this community appreciate me because i was, and still am the person to give them hope. I am a person just like you, i am only lucky enough to have an insider of my own. I have no benefit or loss to tell you anything. So please enlighten me why would i want to get you all excited for nothing? I wouldn't. I'm here because i want to help you all and i enjoy being a part of a welcoming community of EVOLUTiON. I know each and everyone of you apprecitates me for all of the accurate info i have given and all the info to come!

Love, Jackson
Btw matt that was the real iPhone http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/18/iphone-4g-proof/

Even though I am eligible for the $150 off I am going to best buy because of the extra discount up front instead of going through the MIR process with sprint.
Ditto. Same here. In fact, I went over to my local Best Buy and asked them when can I pre order the Evo. They said within the next week or two. So, I am keeping my fingers crossed. Thought I would let u all know.

how long was the site down? jeez..

that would be awsome if Froyo and Flash shipped with the evo WITHOUT pushing back the release date. im sure that would bring in a lot more customers for the phone.

I'll bite. Right now, you are creating points over a topic that's beyond hearsay. How do you know that the device went through FCC? That can't be it since you don't believe what Jackson says. Wait, weren't you the one who believed that Sprint was going to have a huge media blitz on Friday, based on what Jackson stated? Epic fail from Sprint, right? Interesting. How long does it take a device to pass through the FCC? Could a device get resubmitted to the FCC? How long would that take for that resubmitted device to pass through the FCC? Take all the time you need to answer those questions. Bonus question, if Voice + 4G becomes final, would Sprint need a new FCC Filing?

Bill and Norril: Try company, Sprint, and HTC. Thanks for the love from everyone who shown me it. Nothing encourages you more, when people you don't know embraces you and give you a pat on the e-shoulders lol. This is what fuels Insiders to do what they do.

Edit: Props Nate. You're right, and for that I'm done. I'll be back when Sprint officially announces more info to the public. It's been real forum, and thanks for the love again.

I just believe it has gone through fcc or will be soon. if I remember right the pre didnt till a month before release (or was the filing date ) so heck it could possibly not have gone through could have. Either way we wont be seeing any big changes to it. Be nice to see more then just 2 colors though. Ah well thats what skins are for.(assuming I even get one I dont like having the same phone as others on my account)

I sure hope they were serious.. A week or two sounds great!!!

why would it? most people have no i the diffrences in the androids. Most barely know what android is let alone why 2.1 is better then 1.5 and what not. O/s isnt gonna bring people to the evo it will be all the things they can do with it. ease of use and cost.

1.) Please...please...please allow noscript for just android forums, or please press enter every once in a while. It is next to impossible to read you are saying, and I really want to try to understand what you are saying.

2.)We have been around the tree a few times. It is starting to get into troll territory. So please try to condense what you are saying. Please.

and that is my issue. Why bother showing it if what u have is not what we get.
They have, there was a final production model at CTIA, or so I hear. It was the one with the silver ear plate

And a prototype of the other version shirley would have been out by then to if it already had passed FCC and I doubt they would show a crappier version if they have a better version in their pockets. Sprint showed it because they were ready to show it.
If you are just showing off the size and hardware aspects, yes. I think the hardware is done.

They always do this show it and then 2 months later release it. the sprint way. Always has been. The pre, instinct both were like that. Both also had plenty of hardware change rumors that all turned out false. Personally the better hardware wouldn't matter to me I am an Micro-SD card user I rather change it out when I feel like it and more onboard ROM wont matter when their will be plenty of memory free even without an update. Makes 0 sense 0.

Here is the problem. Sprint showed a phone as a business tactic. They wanted to be the first for summer phones. So all other phones are compared to the evo.

Announcing a phone 2 months ahead of time is just stupid. It is one reason sprint is struggling soo much.

They have done it in the past will do it in the future.

So instead of arguing about a fictional hardware change why not talk about things that are truly unknown release date and price. Right now we have no proof of any kind of hardware change. Right now if you go to any sprint official website that has the evo listed and what it is has that is what we are getting till that changes why bother arguing about it?

Now about your question on price and date, this has been covered in this thread so, so, so, many times. That the phrase should be flag as spam.

The current pre-order date is mid may. Release date should be june 6th to june 13. (Another fatal mistake.)

i meant the use of Flash with Froyo. not just the OS alone.

I just cant wait till its august we have all the rumored devies out and for once I can go to a sprint store and spend hours looking at phones instead of walking in knowing what I want

right and that is waht i said would happen. Best buy will allow preordering in May and the device will be released to them one week before sprint's release June 6th.

it will ship with silver earpieces, its just at the show all the HTC reps had the prototypes with the silver earpieces and all of the sprint higher ups like hesse had a different model with a red earpiece. I do not know what the differences were between the two. However Hesse's model could make calls and was fully functioning...

I am here for all of you and noone will scare me away!!! May peace be brought upon you all

1. what do you think is the business reason behind the decision to give Best Buy the one week early release in advance of Sprint's own retail stores? it seems like that would undermine Sprint's primary distribution network and their own sales force essentially cutting their balls off for a whole week.

2. one week before June 6 is May 30. so the Best Buy release is May 30?

THey do taht to best buy because they are a partner and therefor help them advertise and sell phones. The same deal happened with the Evo when it came out

No sprint right now is releasing the evo on the 13th. So the other date i gave the 6th fits perfectly in a 1 week time frame =]

^I love when that happens

Jackson

yess i believe soo

Cary, maybe you can answer this for me: Why were AT&T, Cingular and all the others on GSM able to get approval, when every time you use their networks, it makes all your speakers sound like electronic chickens are clucking? My feeling is someone at FCC really made a bundle in bribes, to get that crap passed through.

Not poking a jab here. I believe everythign you stated above. I am just mystified how that crap ever made it through. Now every mission critical piece of electronics has to be shielded, just in case someone is standing near and gets a call on their AT&T phone.

HA! What a WONDERFUL question Norril. I can't say for sure why, but in my own experience when we were "shopping" for a licensed FCC testing lab (there are a bunch of them and you just have to pick one that you can afford to do the testing with and get all the documentation from) - there were labs that (for a lack of a better term) seemed "shady" if you know what I mean. These are places that seriously would pass something if you would flash a few $$ and tell them to turn around during a test that is supposed to "pass." But man you would think that all the GSM devices would've failed because of that annoying speaker problem when someone is about to call or receive a text....but let me just say you can really "pass" something if you can afford to make it pass with some labs LOL. I know it's not the answer you want but I can't lie. I've seen some places that explains why my college business ethics professor was so popular :)

By the way Burgertime - THANK YOU for that tip on adding people to a block list. It really helps clean up the forum!!
