Root [ROM][ICS] Paranoid Android Ver1.6 Beta from source (31JUL2013)

I have CM 7 loaded on my Triumph but no matter how many times I have re-flashed your ROM it will not load. I use Clockwork and do the factory reset, then flash the ROM, then reboot and end up back at CM 7. Can you help, I would really like to be using your ROM.

Watch closely when you are flashing in CWM.
If you see "failed", redownload the ROM.

I totally agree. The fact that you end up with CM7 still there means the first thing of flashing didn't occur. That would be format /system for thoes who care. Try another download and check the checksum. Maybe someone who had thier's work could post a known good checksum.

Are you sure you are flashing the correct file? I had a similar problem, until I realized I was accidentally flashing the mode changer ZIP instead of the ROM ZIP. After a couple tries I was more careful to read the complete name of the ZIP file before flashing, to make sure I flashed the actual ROM file (then GAPPS). I later flashed the mode file, after playing with the tablet mode for a little while.

i do not have the play store and cannot sync gmail. My apps keep crashing. any help?

Go into apps and clear data from playstore... I had to reflash this rom three times before everything worked flawless. But, I'm loving it over clocked to 1500 with on demand governor and it flies...

Assuming you flashed the Gapps?

ok, i have a new issue with this May 6 rom. I am noticing that charging my phone is off. it won't charge even though its saying charging. any ideas on a fix to this? it will charge sometimes but no telling when it will or not. i left in on charger over night twice, and woke up with no charge or dead. please i really like this rom but if it can't be fixed i'll have to flash miui back. i love the performance of this and everything else, this is my only issue as of now

I know from experience this phone will only charge with a Motorola or Kyocera charger... Lg or Samsung will discharge while reading "charging"

yea i understand that, but just two days ago i was on miui rom and it was charging fine. its a brand new battery too so i know its not my phone or charger. was wondering if wiping the battery data would've done something to the charge? i didn't think so but I am clueless

I had the same thing happen... might be a voltage setting within the kernel. I purchased a spare battery charger off eBay for $5.00. I hate plugging in phone & charging port is finicky

Hello. A great deal of info exists about the many adventures that everyone, namely Bsydz, has gone through with this fine, hard-won rom. A read-through of the whole post is likely the best way to get to know it's intricacies.
However, here are two things I can offer to your setup experience:

Make sure to flash the correct gapps, just after flashing the rom. Try not to skip the google setup process for your account; waiting can cause trouble later (like the one your mentioning). You may want to flash it over again. Good luck!

I'm having another issue with this ROM. When I'm using a compass app or an app that displays the accelerometer info, the readings will pause for about 10 seconds or so every minute or two.

For example, if I run a compass app, and constantly move the phone around, within a minute or two, the compass will stop moving for about 10 seconds, then resume. And the issue keeps repeating if I keep going.

Can anyone else reproduce the problem? The 2 apps I tried so far are "GPS Status" for the compass, and "Smart Tools", using the Compass, Protractor/Level, and Vibration Meter (all 3 tools had the issue).

ok, i've tried 3 themes so far from theme chooser and each say improperly compiled. i've tried reboot and apply and nothing same error. any thoughts?

The usual fix is:

Apply the system theme, then reboot. Go back to the theme chooser and select your new theme, then reboot. It may tell you it's missing assets. Hit "apply anyway". Then reboot.
Let us know if it works. Cheers!

ok found the problem. by default this rom sets my phone to tablet UI. so i switched it to phone and now its working.

Ok, so I've been away from the Forums for a week or so and just got caught up. Thank you BSydz for the info in your reply. I'm still a little confused about symlinked vs. non-symlinked Gapps. I do understand the fundamental differences in how they work, and that using the symlinked Gapps will allow for more free space in the System partition. However, I am not interested in using Google Now. I've been running the April 17 build with the "regular" Gapps, and have had no real issues with anything aside from the lagginess. I'm planning on installing the May 6 build tonight or tomorrow and could still use some advice on which Gapps to use. As I said, I'm not interested in using Google now so I wouldn't gain that benefit from using the symlinked Gapps. Also, I only have about a dozen or so apps that I use on my phone. So can anyone make a recommendation for or against using symlinked vs. non-symlinked Gapps?

Also, from what I have read here it seems that a lot of the lag issues have been solved with the May 6 build. But I am wondering will using the symlinked Gapps (and therefore freeing up addition space on /System) help at all with the lag? Any feedback/suggestions will definitely be appreciated. Thanks in advance :)

yea the lag is somewhat there still. not much though. say you play a game or on a particular app its damn near flawless. the used both regular gapps and symlink gapps and what I get from that is symlink gapps works a lot better with this rom. not sure of the exact differences but when i used the original gapps, i wasn't able to use google play really at all. so you can say its a little more "in sync" with modern google play. but as for the lag, its not horrible at all. it hesitates for about a split second sometimes.

OK, there is absolutely no difference in what is in the Gapps. It all has to do with where they go.

We have very limited space on our system partition, regular Gapps gets installed to system, while symlinked gets installed to data.

All apps installed by you go to data, while system never changes, just what is in the ROM zip, all settings and add ons go to cache, and data.

If there is not enough space on system, and you try to install Gapps, it will not give you an error, it will just finish like normal. After about 50 tests, the missing file was random. One time would be play not there, then maps would crash but play would work.

Any way, your better off with the symlinked for CM9 or CM10 on our phone. GNow doesn't really have much to do with it, it is just possible now to get a good install without running out of space.

Hope this clarifies things.

This did, in fact, clarify things for me. And thank you for the explanation. I was aware that user-installed apps go to data. One of my questions was whether there's any noticeable performance difference between using symlinked Gapps vs. non-symlinked, and based on Godfrey's suggestion I will be going with the symlinked Gapps that I grabbed from the OP.

As always, thanks for taking the time to answer questions and for the time that you put into keeping our Triumphs alive.

ok found the problem. by default this rom sets my phone to tablet UI. so i switched it to phone and now its working.

Themes should work for this rom, irrespective of the ui, which I've run in tablet many times. I like the bottom status bar, though it's tougher to use. Just letting you know, so you don't feel compelled to set everything on phone ui. The above fix will work when themes don't set right away. It may take more then one attempt. Glad you're up and running!

Speaking of lag...you should try crossbreeder...its similar to seeder but I think its more integrated into the OS since it is a flashed zip rather than an apk. I flashed it and have experienced minimal lag while using this ROM

Thanks for this.

I've already got the v6 supercharger enabled with 100% on this rom + following the governer and io handler settings after installing this provides another edge of performance for the Triumph.

which site you use for supercharger. i got one but its taking really long on the first boot not sure if i got the right one. plus it was saying use script manager to run it but the manager will only open the zip won't run it. so i flashed it and now just booting not sure whats going on?

You *flashed* it??
You need to go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276 and read.

I am in no way recommending using it... just that you read the instructions before you try randomly flashing stuff.

ok the instructions are from 2012 so everything is out of date and the script manager they refer to doesn't exist anymore. its now Smanager and it works as a file manager not so much the script manager. and just saying the site you put up was from 2011 so its definitely outdated and everything has changed. so i was asking the guy above me which method he used since he said he's done it with the Rom.
