Are you using the TMo sim or the ATT sim on ST? How much data do you use? I've looked into ST a few times but I think I use too much data, roughly 12-15gb a month sometimes more. I heard they we're more lenient on the TMo towers and stopped selling the ATT sims.
I use the T mobile sim. You can't buy the ATT sim from ST anymore but you can over pay and buy one off Ebay. The ATT data speeds are purely pathetic in my area and I'm in the "excellent" coverage zone. ATT speeds were 3-5mbps where as I'm getting up to 25Mbps with T mobile.
I'm not a heavy data user. I use at the absolute most 5GB a month. I average around 3 or so. I've never had any issues what so ever. I'm in a great coverage area both at home and at work. I buy discount cards every month so I usually pay 39 bucks to 42 bucks for the 45 dollar card.
Don't believe everything you read online about people getting their service cut off for no reason. There's a reason and it's called stealing. These people tether the ish out of the service and LUCKILY Straight Talk finds these thieves and cuts them off. So what happens is these people get all huffy puffy and in turn talk bad about ST when they were the ones stealing in the first place.
I've personally seen people use anywhere from 10-20Gb a month with the T mobile sim and never have a problem.
The best advice I can give if your a heavy data user, not a thief mind you, but if you use a fair amount of data per month and your looking to switch to GSM, then the best thing to do is try it out yourself and see first hand. That's what I did. I didn't believe all the obnoxious thieving ass kids online but trust me, I was worried. Of course you see online that there's an invisible mysterious "2Gb data cap" a month but that's simply not the case. I've used more than 2Gb a month since I started using ST over 6 months ago. If ST doesn't work then there is Simple Mobile which I've heard doesn't cap at all. But then again I dont know first hand. Then there's Solavei which is also a MVNO. As long as these companies are around I will NEVER go to a major carrier. MVNO's are the best things ever created. Your just paying a middle man that "borrows" the bigger companies towers which in turn you pay a helluva lot less.
When I first left Metro, I went on a GSM comparison test with all these pre paid carriers so I could see what worked best, for the cheapest and had the fastest data speeds. I used the T mobile $30 plan for a while just so I could compare it to ST and see if there was any actual difference what so ever and there is none. Data speeds and coverage are the exact same so your not getting skimped on coverage just because you are paying less.
But if you want anymore info shoot me a PM that way we can keep this thread on track. Guess I could have Pm'd this myself, durrrrrrr. But I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have.

. I thought they were doing it by city not by phone. cant w8 to connect to those new towers
