overclocked kernel

soyyo150

Newbie
Im comin from a transform ultra and see im not a pro but everyting waz way easier over there anyway so many tings to do here im stock rooted and need a overclocked kernel but cant find one can someone help thanks

Though I can't imagine needing to OC as this phone on the official Jelly Bean it is lightning quick. How did you root? If by flashing a custom kernel, then you may have that ability already. You also need to tell us which ROM you are on, there is more than one Official ROM for our phones. You could be on ICS or JB. Which is it?

U rite man im on jb stock rooted with agat kernel and is really fast as is now I need to get me a rom... so many to chose from any recomendations oh and thanks for ur replay

I came from the TU also and I don't think there is a need to OC this phone. JB is very fast..loving it..I'm running stock but pac in black was fun and so was Cynagen Mod...

In theory I agree with not overclocking as with the JB for this phone it already runs so very sweet but I do understand the reason why and agree with pushing the the limits of this phone for a few reasons, maybe it comes from back in the day from overclocking my system or video card, but I think the main reason is the ability of making it run to its full potential or opening it up to its actual processor speed, maybe its overclocking or maybe its just running the processor at its actual speed, just my opinion...........;)

i think you are correct doc that we are merely bringing out the fullest potential of the device. the limits we are given are not the real limits. ive been doing things like this in the 80s with a hp 41. jacking up my phone because i can. huh code

Back in the heady days of the PC, over clocking was the thing to do. I jacked the speed of many machines like my C64, Amiga, various dos boxes. Back then we had more cooling space and weren't running on battery. Over clocking is not so much running the processor at its potential as it is "seeing what you can get away with". Even today there will be some variations in the manufacturing of the chip, allowing one chip to go higher than another of the same. That being said, the Exynos C210 (the processor our phone has) came in 2 flavors, 1.2Ghz and 1.4Ghz. Now I am sure they didn't setup two different manufacturing lines to make these, and some just got tested and labeled to the higher speed. One thing to remember, higher clock means running at a higher temp, and that is something to think about when it is packed into something small and tight like a smartphone.

voltage control or cpu master work great for clock control on this phone with an OC kernel.

Codegerm is your source in this forum. ;)
Been in here, long time ;)

thanks for the info like I said im not a pro so ill take ur advice and any help cuz I dont wanna mess up this phone plus im sure u know wat u talking about any recomendation on a rom thanks u da man

I am partial to the TW ROMs myself, like Jellyverse, Touched by GS4, SenseWiz. They will run fine on the Agat Kernel for Jelly Bean that supports OC from here:

There are some Good AOSP ROMs available as well, like Slim Bean, Wild for the Night, or Dirty Unicorns (these will have their own kernels or you can use Lightning Zap (a kernel for CM10.1 ROMs). Note: with the these ROMs you have to be on an ICS modem too.

i too am aware of heating issues. when a cpu clocks higher it will also run for shorter periods. these instruments are also protected with thermal cutouts. the differences in some of these chips has more to do with the material used than the lines. ill always respect your position if i dont agree

I don't worry as much about heat up in the processor itself as heat transfer to other components in the phone. Having it heat up to the point of thermal shutdown would be most annoying. The difference in material is part of the manufacturing, especially with the silicon wafer. The phone in normal operation should spend little time at its max clock. Though in some of the demanding 3d games with the processor's nitrous button pushed, that can be an issue.

Cool, I am sure you will find something you like. Everyone has their personal favorite (except maybe Doc, I think he likes ROM hopping too much lol).

You can also achieve a look and feel change just by flashing in a UI mod and/or a launcher change.

LMAO ;) yea I do like flashing roms, but I prefer to call it testing lol, I do have 2 daily drivers now. Like Code said there are a lot of good ones out there TWs and AOSP, AOKP, you will just need to find the feel you like and want....;)
