Root lg motion root lounge and discussion

Same thing happened to me the first time, had to yank battery and start over. I might have done a factory reset too, i can't remember..

What did you do?

i was messing around with creating a touch recovery and evidently linked the wrong devblock and formatted the wrong thing. no emode. you live and you learn.
i can get button backlights to lightup and it connects then disconnects to pc when holding power and both volume but phone can't be found by lg tool
couldn't get qhsusb drivers to load. edit got drivers to install and recognize device etc..

well i'm hardbricked. gives me an excuse to buy a new phone. buh bye.
are there any good metro phones with unlocked bootloader?

GSM S4 is coming
LG Optimus L9 is coming
Bring your own unlocked iPhone is coming

Um yea, you get the point, after the 12th you can bring any GSM device to MetroPCS which gives us a pretty large selecrion :D

Still the crap network though :-P

Using T-Mobile's GSM network??? I don't think so.

GSM devices can't use Metro's crappy CDMA service ;)

Therefore:

GSM MetroPCS phones use Metro LTE which isn't bad at all + T-Mobile's amazing GSM network.

And you must agree that T-Mobile's GSM network is amazing because:
you're using it ;):vroam:

that's a valid point...

i will concede that..

but can i least be happy that i am finally done with Metro? :P can't i just be happy for once!

Has anyone been able to confirm that the unlocked gsm phones will use metro's lte? Tmobile lte is pretty limited by me but metro lte is everywhere and tmobile gsm is too, having both would be awesome. Also, i wonder if metro will push out an update for some of the cdma phones that have gsm radios, the s3 and motion both are very capable of using gsm its just software disabled.

No, no you can't :p

Actually, it's benefitting you.
Metro has more LTE than T-Mobile does. Once the merge completes (June 12th) you'll be having more LTE everywhere :D

Won't we be unable to connect to T-mobile's GSM network with our CDMA phones?

since the jtag guy said the motion is not supported and wouldn't do it. i'm going to buy a new one and try an old method i've used on pc before. (hot swapping) on a pc it's done by piggybacking a good bios chip onto the screwed one. or replacing it all together. booting, then removing and putting the bad one back while pc is running. reflashing bios. so i'll probably try running leads from a good motion to the dead one and see if i can get it to boot into emode then flash firmware. lol i might end up with two dead motions but oh well i need a project to do to keep me from going insane. and it might be helpful if it works because i could try stuff others don't dare.
if this does work i will attempt to solder a small ribbon cable or something similar into place on both phones with a connector on the end of each so that they can easily be connected and disconnected for the purpose of unbricking easily for dev purposes.

Yep. Thats why to buy a motion with a new number is only $30 right now. They are trying to enlarge their customer base as well as get rid of the phones that will soon be invaluable to the MetroPCS carrier.

Metro plans on wiping out CDMA completely by 2014-2015 I think I read. By then your Motion will only work where there's 4G LTE.

As of right now yes that's pretty much what's going on, they're trying to dump as many cdma phones as they can, that said, the motion has the same SOC as the s3 and a bunch of other phones that are all world phones, all we need to do is convince lg (or metro) to push out an update that enables gsm mode, I'm going to try a few things as soon as I have time off, but I think I might be able to make it happen without them.

I know there is an lg tool that converts from .cab (unencrypted) to .kdz (encrypted), is there a tool somewhere that I'm missing that can do the opposite, take a .kdz and turn it into a .cab I can open?

i found a motion on craigslist for $10 he says the back is missing and the screen stays white but you can still hear everything. anybody ever experienced white screen? i'm going to go ahead and get it to repair my bricked motion.

I don't wanna start a new thread so I'm asking here.
is there anyway of getting the mymetro app on my phone? I'm running bobz 5/21 cm10 rom.

My girlfriend still has the stock rom on her phone so i sent myself the app and it didn't install , I tried putting it in system/app . That didn't work , I even put the odex in there with it.

I'm thinking that I might need the deodexed version?

So can some who's on a deodex rom post the mymetro app?

Or if someone can help me, it will greatly appreciated

mother @#@#%@% i'm tired of having a bricked motion. but soon i may have an unbrickable motion if my theory is correct.

If there's a way too have a button combo when bootloop happens. Or same do the process to boot in recovery from stock and flash a stock or Cm Rom. Can't help no complaints time.
