Samsung Galaxy S 4 hits the FCC in MetroPCS

Just over a month since T-Mobile began selling the Galaxy S4, the company is knocking $50 off the price of Samsung's latest flagship handset. Customers can now pick up the phone for $99.99 down along with 24 months of $20 payments. To save you the math, that's an additional $480 over the course of two years. T-Mobile is also selling the phone for the complete upfront price of $579.99, a tad cheaper than buying an unlocked version off Amazon (and with the bonus of LTE). This deal will last from June 12 to July 13, offering a fair bit of time for shoppers to decide if this feature-packed behemoth is the phone for them. Just hit up T-Mobile's site to find the phone in both black and white.

T-Mobile's promotion doesn't stop there. Phablet fans can get a Galaxy Note II for $169 with a two-year commitment. The Galaxy S III is also available for $49 down, and while it may not be the latest thing out anymore, it's still a solid phone. All of these devices are compatible with T-Mobile's 4G LTE network and are bound to receive updates for at least the next year.

[Deal Alert] T-Mobile's Galaxy S4 Is Now Just $99 Down ($50 Discount), Where It Probably Should Have Started

Seems like a good price for $580. I'm mot sure if when MetroPCS releases the GS4, will it be that much cheaper. At least this price will be available on T-Mobile until July 13. Hopefully that will be enough time to see the BYOD roll into all the MetroPCS areas and enough time to see the GS4 come into MetroPCS.

Suppose that by July 13th MetroPCS still doesn't offer the S4, but they have the have the BYOD in my area, could I just walk into t-mobile and buy the phone without their plan and pay up for it in cash? I ask this because in their website, T-mobile doesn't seem to let you buy a phone without a plan.

If you have Faceplant, go to T-Mo news and send David the owner a private message. He will know.

I think you can also send him a message from his Blogsite but Faceplate is much easier.

I think it would be a great idea if T-mobile would let metropcs customers buy the phonesfrom them in payments. Its the same company, so why not?

That's tmobiles price also but that doesn't mean they'll sell it at ARV, just like some stores don't sell the products at MSRP(Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price)

either they sell it cheaper or it would be a bad move to sell it for more than they appraise the value to be.. either way even if i agreed with what u said i would consider that price the lid on the boiling pot if u catch my drift ;)

also last year didnt we find out the prices on the gs3 way ahead of time with that metro facebook sweepstake where it also said appraised value at? and when it was released it indeed was being sold at speculated price. so my money is on that price! This just shows metropcs is clumsy with keeping such info to themselves.

well since that email is only supposed to go out to authorized dealers who are enrolled in samsungs training site :)

any ideas on a release date/time frame?

My friend owns a Metro store and he told me that S4 will be available sometime in July, so far that's all he knows.

And he also stated that the price prolly would be either $599 or $629. Hope this helps anyone thinking of getting this device.

Damn kinda a killer price.. Dont think i was going to get it....but the note 3 could only be worse then this...
the note as i seen are often much much more expensive, i can see the note three going past iphone price, id personally rather buy a car and try to progress my life rather than drop 750+ on a phone

theres no reason to be sad about one phone coming to metro that might be out of budget for most.... i can buy a unlocked t-mo note 2 for $300-$400 on swappa and use it soon on the byod plan. people say but n4zty the gs4 has a better benchmark test than the note 2.... i refuse to let an app determine my positive experience with a phone. alot of you guys are being brain washed. its one of those things where we could randomly select a few members on af give them 2 un branded phones and ask them which one worked the best for them and u know what i bet ya $100 it wouldn't be the latest device out. If im to get the gs4 my only reasons would be i would like a device just like my nexus 7 to frequently get updates. not saying im tired of jellybean hell i was never even tired of ics. also the metro branded gs4 will have a pretty good development experience just as the gs3 if not more. those two things are worth its weight in gold. oh and ive been getting heavily into mobile gaming and my gs3 lags a tad bit on modern combat 4 dont know if any1 else plays that but yea. lol

I agree, but would point out just a couple of things, the tmo version would not need to be unlocked, as it will still be running on tmo network.
And 2 the nexus 4 is a great cheap device with great hardware as well so depending on the amount of money you want to spend, and if you want "new" or used there are many options out there.

except ive told you time after time that the note two is noticeable slower. samsung exynos chips just tend to suck overall nowadays :P

there is a reason why the new nexus 7 will be going with qualcomm, why the usa sgs4 have qualcomm, why the majority of the phones released will use them...

to further prove my point, the sgs4 on verizon/sprint/cricket/att/tmobile/uscc/candian all have stable nightlies and have had for a while (the locked bootloader on the att/vzw one wasnt enough to keep it back). yet the international exynos "octacore" one...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2310244

as of a week ago they were still trying to figure out which device tree to start from, then they still need to get the hardware trees and so much more for them to even have a rom that will build and boot. i give it another 4-5 months before they might get it booting with wifi working.

its not just them either, http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1896 here is teh sprint note 2 forums, note how many roms they have? how many kernels? we have more development than they do. id show you the buglist for their aosp based roms, but the team doing aosp on samsung exynos stuff quit. teamhacksung who made aosp on the sgs1-3 possible said screw it im done and left exynos because its too hard/stupid.

im not discouraging buying a note btw, get it just know what you get yourself into :P. since the note series always uses exynos, you had better be pretty happy with touchwiz :) (or get the old old old msm8660 att note1)

Ah but ur basing your assumption I'm wanting my device for available roms lol u should know by now I'm a stock tw type of person hint been only using your metropolis roms. But yea there's more rom freaks in this forum than simple stock tw users like me. I mean look at how many people go from one rom and another rom the next week......

you say that but how long until support has stopped for the note 2? think it will get 4.3? you mean to tell me you are willing to drop 300+ on a phone that should be lasting you 2 years and staying behind teh times on older software?

think about all the people on the esteem still, 350 bucks and forever stuck on 2.3, while 4.2 doesnt offer much in terms of upgrades who knows what the next version will hold. rumor has it there is a "project butter" type thing for battery. if teh note 2 doesnt get that update it will be behind in terms of new features but more importantly security.

there is a new root that is coming out, it will root EVERY android phone in existence. it will however be patched soon enough. but teh major concern is that the root is apparently extremely easy and can be done with any apk. this is going to open the door to malware as now any malware dev can root any device and hack them to do whatever and anyone not on the latest version of android will be unable to protect themselves....

Im not much of a pure stock guy, I do pick a rom and stick with it for quite some time usually but I like having more control over the phone/computer/device.
I really hate though that the esteem is stuck with 2.3 I hate even more how many phones are selling new today with only 2.3 and no upgrade path what so ever. My dad bought a samsung proclaim (straight talk on verizon towers) and that is just one example.

I want it because mainly the vast improvement in larger screen...im a super heavy phone user and I read tons or articles and use my phone now MUCH more then my laptop..i thought that day will never come but it's a welcome treat..the gs3 is the first phone I haven't rom'd I did root it to remove bloatware but that's it..but im still kicking it with touchwiz because im comfortable with it even though I would PREFER stock android but I can definitely live without it..unless google made a Nexus 5.5inch device then ooo baby I would be all over that..

What about the new HTC one that's like 5.9"? Not out yet but I would take it over the Note line. I'm sure it'll cost a fortune though.

Honestly I don't think the esteem could have handled 4.0. Granted, I loved my esteem days and I wanted ics add much as the next guy but I think the experience would have been seriously tainted and disappointing. That measly 512 ram it had would have been gone as soon as it booted. Ha

True but with androids ability to handle ram I think it could have been worked out just not worth it for any dev's lol.:p

Remember android is based (loosely maybe) on linux and linux has always been the preferred O/S for old damn near extinct hardware.

Fuzzy this phone you speak of I saw someone mentioning it before..i looked over phonedog assuming they would have some info all I can find is info on the butterly S which is a 5 incher.. any links?

edit: nevermind I found it.. the t6, htc one max correct?
