Samsung Galaxy S 4 hits the FCC in MetroPCS

seriously the esteem had only 512 ram? yea that wouldnt have handled 4.0 oem at all. in fact the original sgs1 had 512 of ram and when they got cm9 booting on it found out after the resources loaded they had a little over 9MB's free. that was a while ago and they have since trimmed it up a bit, but that will give you an idea of how bad low memory can affect ya. (yay for 2 gigs on teh sgs3 :D)

2 gigs!?! On my s3 it only shows 1gb

Well now on the limited market, they are offering the Blue S3, on the press release they mentioned it was LTE compatible, but it doesn't really show anything the metro site if it is or not...hmmm I wonder.

Well that's just silly of course the S3 on metro is LTE. Why would it not be? Metro had the first LTE phone and first LTE android in the country.

Does anyone know when and if the galaxy s4 is coming to metro ??? and also does anyone have any idea when we can get our hands on a full 4.2.2 rom touchwiz that comes with the galaxy s4 ??

I got the s3 two months ago now metro with the s4 man money is getting tight ill stick with the s3 for now
Your CDMA metro S3 will be fine for 2 more years so dont worry about it. When money loosens up and its time to replace it there will be many more options for you.:D

Actually with VOLTE that s3 should last 3-5 more years if you wanted to push it.

Which part?

Metro CDMA network will continue to be used (though they plan on ramping down) until mid 2015. At which time the cdma radio will become unusable.

However Metro started using a VOIP system (like vonage) That will work over the LTE network. So VOLTE Tmo has commited to keeping that system in place for several years after the cdma network shuts down. After that who knows they may have there own version of that up and running then they could potentially shut down all the gsm legacy networks and only run one LTE network.

So to summarize Metro's newer LTE phones have the ability to talk over the LTE radio and so your phone will utilize that if the cdma network is unavailable.

Am I gonna be able to take advantage of the merge?? The people with cdma phones
That is the Hope, at this point with all the work being done LTE speeds are all over the place but soon as things settle metro lte should improve in both coverage and speeds.

So for the average CDMA user with lte phone 4g will get better and should have coverage in a larger area.
And in 6-12 months as more people migrate to GSM that will mean a lower congestion on CDMA therefore improving speeds.
Personally I dont care too much about CDMA and want to migrate to GSM ASAP. T Mobile HSPA + and LTE is so much quicker, both in terms of flat out speed and in real world use. I do a browser search pages are loaded and ready immediately, I am using google nav it reroutes in under a second most of the time vs 1-20 seconds when I used cdma 3G. Just little things really.

supposedly current 4G metro phones will be able to connect to Tmob's LTE network..so your phone should work for a very long time...even after all of metro's cdma networks go down..but you will be ONLY on tmob LTE so if you venture out another area you won't be getting service..

Is metro gonna update the s3 to 4.2.2 or at least 4.2.1 I'm running metropolis right now to many features custom roms don't have

we will get 4.2.2 and possibly 4.3 but i wouldnt count on that last one.samsung usually does 2 big upgrades.

my epic 4g went from 2.1 to 2.3, epic 4g touch went from 2.3 to 4.1, sgs3 went from 4.0 to 4.1 (we know 4.2 is in the works for the sgs3 though :P )

sgs4 is on 4.2 at launch so i imagine ill stop getting official support on 4.4/5.0 or whatever the number is for L
