Yes.

When I wear my cool socks with sandals (I really like them and feel really comfortable in them and fell "at home" in them) I am told by my crack head family:

"We don't want to be seen in public with you looking like that."

Isn't it sad?

Isn't it sad that I have to come on a forum with millions of "strangers" (you are not strangers to me at all... my own FAMILY... THEY are the strangers...) to just be heard...

How sad.

But what is far sadder than that is not being loved the unique person I am.

Not being loved and respected for who I am.

This is the saddest part of it all.

I HATE conditional love.

I ******* absolutely ******* **** **** hate it.

I can't talk to my family... I was jealous many years ago when my friends all had families that loved them for they are... but not me.

No... not this little engine... not allowed.

But seriously, the "conditional love" thing is so obvious.. it's not love. It looks to me more like control, with a little bit of their brand of "love" as the bait. "Do this, act this way, and I'll give you (fill in the blank: a hug, some money, a sandwich, housing, something to help you survive today, my approval which you know you need, etc).

People spend their entire lives in those relationships, in varying degrees.

I'm with you on hating it. Trying to talk it over with them probaby just sets a person up for more.

Agreed. To me, there is no such thing as race in music. I mean look at me. I'm also a black guy, but I'm a Iron Maiden and Megadeth fan. And if people find that strange, they need to look at themselves in the mirror.

My kid is in her 2nd year of college and her music horizons are expanding, to say the least. Hanging out with them for a while I was a bit surprised to see some guys hauling in their Kurt Cobain discs and sheet music "to get it down." They are all black African Americans.

But like said above, rock and roll is branched off from African rhythms, etc. So.. maybe your friends need to have a listen with the ear of musical history. ;)

Why should any one judge you for something like music?

As long as you don't go around hurting then people then why is it ANY ONE'S business?

It is nobodies business to what you listen to.

Have you ever noticed that technology has increased with the availibity of coffee? I mean really... Coffee has been around for hundreds/thousands of years. But it wasn't until the 1950's when coffee machines became availible to the masses. Espresso drinks were also around for years, but it wasn't until the late 1990's that espresso machines became affordable to the masses and became a household item. The advent of affordable espresso machines ushered in the digital revolution including Android.

That's my theory of history and I'm sticking to it.
