Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

<Sheds tear>
Yay! Google wallet is now installed. Had to side load it.

Except for point of sale which is still limited to approved devices.
Wait, really? Going to try it out anyway.
The Verizon version of the GNex isn't on that list and it still worked. But I have a feeling you're right. They have it blocked.

OK, help please :o

I sideloaded it and it installed fine on my unrooted RAZR MAXX HD. I enabled NFC. I'm on VZW. Are you saying that if I go to 7-11, it won't work? Evil Big Red will block it?

It installs fine on any phone, 2.3 or higher. It may not be available in the play store for every device, but it should side load with no issue.

The question about 7-11 is more tricky. Launch the app. Does it say anywhere "tap to pay" with a CC pictured? If not, then it may not work to pay.

The app not showing up in the play store is Verizon's doing. But not allowing the device to pay is all Google. Can't blame big red for that.

Google Wallet that doesn't let me pay for things via NFC does what exactly then? I'm going to try it on the way home tonight and see what happens.

AhHA! You're right - there's no option to "tap to pay." At least not here at home. Wonder if it shows up when in range of an NFC reader? Curious to know your experience.

Without this, I personally see no use for Wallet. The only joy would be the convenience of paying and freaking out the cashier or other customers ;)

Any gas pumps nearby that have it? Try it outside at the pump instead of going into the store.

I'm in Canada at the moment, so doubt anything would work here. Which is why I'm watching nj02vette to see if he meets with success. Would love it for when I'm in the States and can use it at the fast food places and drug stores where I've seen terminals.

I was reading about earlier over on Reddit. People were tweeting those responsible and reminding them the Block C regulations.

Well just as I feared, it doesn't work. Sucks.

On XDA they are looking into it and have some theories. But the short of it is you need a secure element module in the phone. That's in addition to NFC. And the Wallet app must recognize and support the phone.

Yeah, T-Mobile's Jump actually comes out pretty good compared to the rest because they don't have subsidy repayment built into their plans like Verizon and AT&T do. Word on the street is that Sprint is going to release a similar plan to T-Mobile on iPhone launch day.
That would be interesting. I also keep seeing commercials for Sprint's new promotion, "unlimited data for life." Or has it already been exposed as having lots of fine print?

Morning all! I'm in the same boat, wallet installed fine, but no tap to pay. Oh well.

Interesting news that Verizon wants to certify the Nexus 7 LTE. If it takes a matter of days, I won't bat an eye, adding a device to an activation system is an acceptable reason for a short delay IMO. If it takes a month or longer, I hope the FCC calls foul loudly and severely. They need to show early on that violation of Block C regs will not be accepted.

Good morning!

Is anyone else having a devil of a time copying TWRP backup files to a Win 7 PC?

I drag & drop, and only a quick fraction of the contents move over. I can't even manually drag each missing element: like system and data, the important ones.

Open to any advice here...

I know you were interested at one point Chief, but the developer editions of both the DROID Max and Moto X are available with the Moto X dev edition having 32gb of storage and is own look not available on Moto maker
