no worries though, its coming out mid-june i just used that to show you that someone who works for the company has no clue so why should we rely on best buy?

I know you guys are going to throw knives at me, but I kept saying it would be smarter for Sprint to release the phone in July or August after all the hoopla over the new iPhone dies down. By then, there should be a lot more WiMAX coverage to demonstrate the phone as well....You.. you... you just GET OUT OF HERE!

well Apple is making the iphone 4g announcement sometime in June probably with a release date shortly after....so if EVO comes out mid to late June there is a very good chance people will just wait a small amount of time and just get the iphone 4g...why try something totally new when the iphone is tried and true and now more sparkly?

So, after going to the mall, picking up the HD2, and playing with it, the rep comes up and asks if he can help me. Not to get too involved I tell him I'm out of contract soon and seeing what's available, and how I was wondering if the screen would be too big. His response, waiting for the evo, aren't you? Who here has been to the rockaway nj tmo store... Lol. The screen is amazing, and it is now only making the wait even worse, while staring at my 3.1" amoled screen (or trying to in any direct light...lol)
Haha smart rep. I was at the mall today and the first thing I looked for was the T-Mobile kiosk and they didn't have the real HD2 they just had the dummy phone. Made me mad I wanted to play with it. I promise that phone makes waiting for the evo sooo hard.

I know exactly what you mean, I work at a mall, and can you believe, I went to 3 different places, a Radio Shack, a Radio Shack cell phone booth, and a T-mobile cell phone booth, and all 3 just had the dummy models? Bah!
I suppose I could go try to find a proper T-Mobile store but that would require me to drive to a different area and then......*shudders*walk into a T-mo store....
my friend has the hd2 and that thing feels great...i tried to convince him to wait for the evo, but he didnt listen so ill rub my evo in his face when its released lol
Tell that to Suzy homemaker and Joe six pack who don't use spec sheets side byside when they decide on purchasing a phone. There are tons of inferior products out there that beat the competition because of existing marketshare, marketing, and timing. Remember the evo is the new kid on the block and will have to prove it's worth over time in the minds of most people. That is, if they give it a chance in the first place.

I would like to have the phone right now too, but I don't want it before it's ready. July or August is still summer, as promised, and it only makes sense to wait until after the Apple sauce raucous is over. That would give Sprint just a little, itty, bitty more time to work everything out and to make sure everything is perfect. If they release the EVO in mid to late June, it will be buried by the media.
If Sprint were to come out with both barrels and try to compete with the iPhone, I don't see much of a chance for success. On top of that, if it does fail to get attention in June, they may not get another chance. Not only are they going to be fighting Apple, but they'll be fighting Verizon's Incredible as well. Think about it.
I'm willing to wait just a little longer. Three months will bring us to the end of July and that isn't that far away. Most of us will probably have WiMAX by then too.
I'm not the one controlling the release data and playing the devil's advocate didn't work out too well for me yesterday, but a later release makes a lot of sense to me. I'm only saying this, because it could happen.
