Root TWRP vs CWM for Nexus 5

Hook

Ever since DU... ;-)
I know I asked this in a CWM thread, but it was actually a little off topic for that thread and I decided too get it more attention. Hope no one minds. :o

I really liked TWRP on my Nexus 7 and found the Touch UI very nice. However, I notice every one here seems to be using CWM. Is there a good reason for that. Is it that CWM is better? Or is it that there is a problem with TWRP for the Nexus 5.

Personally, I love TWRP, but right now it is virtually unusable for me. There's just too many bugs. I switched to CWM temporarily until TeamWin pushes a new version that fixes all of the current issues.

I figured something like that must be going on, but I wasn't turning up much info. Thanks. CWM it is.

That is the situation I am in as well.

I have TWRP installed on my Nexus 5. I believe it was the default recovery that Wugs installed. All I have really flashed is a few kernels to test out and they flashed fine. Haven't thought of flashing a Rom yet. If I do, would you all recommend switching over to CWM?
How would that work. Uninstall TWRP and install CWM or just install CWM over TWRP.
Tried to search but didn't get a clear answer.

Thanks

Just curious. Why does TWRP set the date for backups to 1970. Is there a solution? It's a small bug-- I just don't let it automatically name files. Doesn't seem to interfere with anything working. Flashed Cataclysm without a hitch, but annoying for an OCD guy like me. ;)

its a LG thing, or lack of a thing. LG decided time wasnt needed in the lower levels and removed it. Thus we get the 1970 bs for dates on backups down in recovery. With CWM you can use ROM Manager to manage backups and rename them w/o causing a md5 error. With TWRP I'm not sure what/if is used to the the same.

I read about a hack that can be done to get time/date in recovery, but it wasnt something I think koush and crew would approve of and implement into CWM.

You can directly rename a backup in TWRP using the name generator tool they have. I'm just a sad pup because I love TWRP's UI, but it's just not working for me. Me thinks TWRP hates me :(:(:(:(

I'm just not letting TWRP automatically name the backups. A little extra work, but actually nice having backups with descriptive names as well as proper date.

...and I think CWM hates me. I had so much trouble. Coming from SGS3 with TWRP, I could move back ups, rename and restore. CWM on Nexus 5 I could not transfer backups from phone to PC to save storage space, easily.
No problems with TWRP though.

I was all CWM with my SGS2 but decided to give TWRP a try with my N5. Really loving TWRP.

I like the touch UI and it's all very clear/easy to follow. Haven't encountered any problems with it at all so will keep running it indefinitely.
