Root [International] Overclocking a GS3

Hummmmmmmmmmm I seam to have made a mess of my titanium backup, will have to find what I want manually, actually no I used appbrain to save my list of installed apps, well at least most of them ;-)

Ha sussed it, had to sign in on the web and add all my apps to the new system as it has listed it as a new phone now it's on kittykat.

Not sure what happened there just didn't like the backup, I have another problem now, can't access the camera?

Put a post in the neat rom thread on here mate and see if sale knows about it. I still havent tried the rom
Hows the rest of the rom? Is it fast?

App to SD isn't in aosp mate its something Samsung added. Check out the app Link2Sd (I've never used it)

I installed that link to sd app, on trying to move an app I got,

App2SD is not supported by your device because your device has a primary external storage.
you can link the app in order to move its files to your sd card.

So is there some sort of mod I can install to allow this?

I want to clarify some confusion that seems to exist here regarding Aroma. It is simply an installer programme that developers now choose to enable the user to choose exactly what they want to flash with the ROM, e.g. add-ons, modems, apps, sometimes custom kernels, tools, etc. Each developer includes his own preferred add-ons, so what you have in Aroma with one ROM isn't necessarily included in another.

Aroma is akin to a Windows installer package, where you also get to make choices, e.g. installation directory/path, with or without explorer bars and so on. Therefore, Aroma has nothing to do with the ROM per se and Aroma versions are not restricting the choice of ROM, it is simply a tool to install what you want aside from the essential to make the ROM work as it should.

O.k. so could/should I add the neat rom aroma 6.3 to my rom?

I think the confusion was that jammychap originally flashed ONLY the aroma, without flashing the rom first, thinking it WAS the rom.

I might be wrong but I think the aosp neatrom doesn't have an aroma associated with it.

Considerably lacking in bloatware, I'm not sure the aosp rom needs aroma installer, although it could of course be used to add/remove custom kernels and xposed framework etc so I'm not entirely sure.

But that aroma is for the Jelly Bean 4.3 touchwiz rom.

Yes that's correct, I didn't know an aroma was separate from the rom, i'm a newbie to all this, this is my first rooted phone, bless me I broke my cherry lmao.

There's a steep learning curve but you're doing fine! :)

It's most daunting at the beginning because you hardly know where to start. But you've made a start, so it's going to get easier and easier.

BTW, your original reason for all this was to overclock your phone. You'll need to be looking at custom kernels to flash on your phone now.

As well as overclocking, one of the main advantages of a custom kernel on the S3 is that you can directly access the settings for the high quality Wolfson audio dac chip this phone has and considerably improve the headphone output quality over that of Samsung stock. I would recommend Boeffla kernel, but you should check compatibility with your rom.

Sounds good, I don't suppose you could find me a link to them please? :D

Here's a link to the Boeffla kernels. You need to choose the CM11 Omnirom version. Go for the latest test kernel. :)

Downloads - Boeffla-Kernel for Samsung Galaxy S3 and n8010

You also want to download the config app from the play store so you can change the settings for the kernel:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.andip71.boeffla_config_v2

And here is Lord Boeffla's excellent guide to the settings in his kernel and what effect they should have.

http://www.boeffla-kernel.de/index.php/boeffla-config-help

With the audio tweaks, it's actually worth having a decent set of ear/headphones to hear how good it sounds!

Ok cheers, installed new kernel, done some minor tweaks, which benchmark app do you guys test against? I have AnTuTu benchmark currently at 20620, that's just a little better than a Nexus10 :D
