Rooting is safe so you don't have to worry about making a back up before rooting. I do recommend using the recovery app and making a backup to your external sd card after you root, so that way you can be safe with future kernels, roms etc..

You will have to manually go to "back up and restore" then selesct "backup to external sd card". it will take a few minutes, once its done, go ahead and hit reboot

I am at the part where it says open SuperSU, and i click it, it says 'there is no Su binary installed and super SU cannot install it. This is a problem!' what do i do??

ok, it worked the second time, and the batch program did its thing and told me that it was done and exited. so now my phone is rooted? Do i need to reboot? anything i should do right away after i rooted?

You can install a root checker app in the play store to verify if it worked but having supersu should confirm it already

Yep the app i got says it was successful! Thank you so much Trevor! One more question for you, now that i have rooted, do you know if it is safe for me to terminate the service 'wsd sdk service'? It is an android backround process. It has been using like 2 gb of my mobile data a week.

do you mean wfd? thats wifi service i believe

Yes, that is what i meant. Why would it be using loads of mobile data if its just my wifi connection?

hi im also a first time rooter so this is all really new to me and with your advice i havnt messed up yet i dont think. so now im at the part where i downloaded the lte2recovery AND titanium back up. i want to reboot my android but am afraid ill miss an important step, im not sure how to back my data to external sd card. thanks in advance.

Trevor the supersu did the same to me and i tried uninstalling it and tried it again, superuser does the same to me too any suggestions i use f6 root

Can comebody please tell me what buttons to hold down to manually get into the recovery that is used in this rooting guide. The LTE recovery app will not boot into recovery and when I use it my phone goes into a boot loop.

Are you sure you're in Settings -> About Phone -> Software Information -> MS50010i is the latest for most of us. If you have MS50010k then you should get that dump out for the rest of us.

How is the lte2recovery different than the CWM 6.0.4.6 Loki recovery here?
