Help How to get back touchwiz?

One of them is an MD5 file and the other is an application extension, the MD5 file is the "meat" of the firmware, I have no clue what the other file is...

Is it a .tar.md5 if yes than that is your firmware

Yup! It is!

But like I said... there's two files in the folder, one is the MD5/tar file, the other is a "SS_DL.dll" and says the type of file it is is it's an "application extension"

Should I just delete the second one?

Just keep it now start Odin up
 
mikey for the record it unzips into the tar and app ext which i assume is for odin idk. android just leave alone folllow the odin instructions to a t check correct boxes put tar file in right spot. the only thing i dont think it said was to put your phone in debug mode which is done via settings,if you already havent using whatever rot method you did.most imporatntly wait till odin goes green says pass. As far as the flashing of 1747 firmware to 1747m models and vice versa is that they are compatible only thing is radio might not work so that just means use the opposite. check by making call text etc after flashing. You might have to factory reset after.

also its kinda common practice to pull battery before hitting start

Alright, well how do I make a backup of it? Oh, and odin refuses to open......

Nvm!!! I got it to work again! :)
 
Backup goes as follows
1.Either enter the 3 finger salute(button combo)
Or most custom roms have option via power menu
2. While in recovery using volume keys choose backup/restore/ then backup then the home button i do believe i dont use cwm so others chime in wait till backup is made.
3.Then you have option to reboot power off choose whatever then transfer said backup which will be in cwm folder on sd card or internal sd whichever way it setup and transer copy to safe place on pc

In back up and restore I don't have the option to back up somewhere don't think I do... I just have this:

Backup and Restore:

-backup to /sdcard
-restore from /sdcard
-delete from /sdcard
-advanced restore from /sdcard
-free unused backup data
-choose default backup format
-++++++Go Back+++++
 
make backup first if ya havent either way make a backup after you flash odin and test it out to make sure you get calls etc. Then google this "xda galaxy s3 efs backup, and or imei" this is important to do because without it your phone is a mini tablet. This should be done before flashing custom roms due to remote chance of rom erasing imei(efs folder). Dont worry firmware wont do that, sometimes its a failsafe to get back but its always important to making backups get in the practice.

like i said been while since i used cwm but it will either be auto set to folder or you can choose either remember where you store

the restore from sd will choose said backup when complete or other backups made and restore phone from the state in which was made when chosen backup was made
 
Totally off topic seeing how your from canada you follow the Trailer Park Boys? If so you see the new movie "Dont Legalize It"? Im dying to see it huge fan seen when they came to states!!!!!

Which is why I am doing a back up BEFORE I do the odin thing :P

But why do I need to google that? Is it in case I don't recieve calls and stuff?

Okay, so when you're in recovery, have the computer plugged in, take your storage from there, and then it'll restore it for me? Awesome! :D
 
important!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Odin did not put the "application extension" file thing in the part that says pda do i even need this file?????????????

As far as imei thats just good to have for the incase factor especially if you root after.

Recovery no what recovery will do is make a backup either on your phones internal sd or external sd. Yes cwm will restore backup from either internal or external sd wherever backup is. If you want phone plugged in thats your choice its not required.
I mentioned is taking the backup and putting a copy on your pc, whether you have phone plugged in and transfer through windows or use dropbox or via a mini sd card reader/usb stick thats on you.its general practice to have a copy of backups especially stock backup.

i believe its an extension for odin just leave alone does no harm.

Trailer Park Boys is a mokumentary tv show that has cult following in Canada States and other english speaking countries. Filmed in Nova Scotia
