I am just curious if Verizon finds a way of screwing the G3 up. Perhaps they will try to get LG to create their own lock-down security like Knox and Samsung

I joke, but if LG were wanting some enterprise 'bidness', they could do something.... Perhaps fire a laser beam in the face of the user when trying to root! Kind of like the Halloween masks in Halloween III. Eight more days to Halloween.... silver shamrock!

The S4 STILL has not been unlocked and folks futilely (based on S4 over a year no luck, it is) try with the S5. Samsung laughs at the bounty piling up at XDA.

Added: I still admire their tenacity That said, you would think after one year of no luck with the S4, folks would kind of get the hint of futility.

Now that Loki has been patched, they might not be terribly worried about it. I could be wrong here but I'm not sure if any LG bootloader has been unlocked? As far as I know, Loki has been the answer for bypassing the bootloader for most every LG. Would love to hear from anyone who has additional knowledge on that.

Is the SGS5 at 2.5 or is that the typical approximation?

Plus it's already less than a 2% difference, so, you know...

Its the same, numbers are rounded off for the SGS5

MSM8974AC is clocked at 2.46Ghz and sometimes said to be 2.5Ghz(For marketing,sake of simplicity)

Even if there were a difference of 40mhz I doubt it would have been worth mentioning.

Scary story. I was once able to talk on the phone to the webmaster of a camera manufacturer to discuss wrong specs. I had already bought the product. He agreed with me completely and explained that his manager simply said that specs were a matter of opinion. And that his manager's position was the lowest in the organization.

The second time was with a known search engine giant, but then by email, to discuss incorrect details about smart TV apps they had. His management had determined that it was more effective for him to answer email complaints than release him to change one line of known wrong HTML prior to the next unspecified page update, scheduled for real soon now.

Another mention of the metal case.

I think we know that it's metal-looking plastic, especially for three reasons -

The economy of making covers out of various materials. I don't know of anyone trying it outside of the Moto X in recent memory.

Wireless charging is not happening through a metal cover. Unless the peek-a-boo case is actually a wired device.

At no point are plastic waveguides or apertures shown anywhere. Radio signals have to get in and out somehow. The leaked pictures with the removable back doesn't suggest a plastic ring or external antennae around the edge.

The biggest surprise I saw was the mention of 2 GB ram. That's certainly energy efficient and interesting if true.

Of G2's 32 GB storage, 24 are available to the user for data, implying that the G3 will offer 8 - so the SD card isn't important, it's crucial.

But didn't leak from Korea reveal 3Gb RAM last week? Maybe they have two versions with different Ram, memory.

If 2Gb for all, I don't see much incentive for G2 owners. G2 is still brilliant phone with insane battery longevity, good screen, snappy UI.

This 801 ought not have any bandwidth problems (depending how you meant bandwidth).

The GPU ought to suffer only for gaming.

If you're a gamer, this may not be the phone for you. It's not going to hit high FPS rates under stress, as shown earlier (you posted that I think? edit, yes on 5/21).

Over $600, I am out and keep my Sony Ultra Z.

Yeah, except not all graphics are handled by the GPU.

Video playback, for example, can hit 60 fps including HD scaling and never go near the GPU.

Ditto on the UI.

It's a popular myth that the entire UI in Android and its apps go through the GPU and need the GPU for everything but its just not true.

Look up the rarely discussed grid core on the Snapdragons, if nothing else, you'll find my references to it two years ago.

Likewise on the TI OMAP architecture going back even before that.
