LG G3 Pre-release/Rumor/Speculation Thread

I am going to "borrow" G3 from T-Mo in any case, shoot some video and compare it to the video shot at the same conditions by my Pana x920 on my 80" Sharp screen.

If the video is comparable, I'm in, x920 and Sony Z Ultra and i6000 are going to go, I'm gonna make a few Franklins on the way.

If not..too bad. I'll return G3.

I am not a gamer. I am mostly interested in the multimedia capabilities. 2GB doesn't bother me too much either.

Now, if they took away dust/water resistance, that would be a real let down.

Ok, not having the 805 was a blow, but only 2GB of RAM kills it for me. It looks like I'll be trying out the black 64GB OnePlus One at the end of June. If not that, maybe a cheap G2 or just hangin' onto the Nexus 5 until 64 bit stuff is out.

Maybe we'll be surprised...

sorry early, rough day all around, I didn't see it. Onto the M8 prime for me.

can someone tell me what the difference is between this phone and the s5? Obviously screen and battery. Other than that, it's all software, pretty much? Shock. Meh. Bubble burst. The bomb turned out to be a dud?

Well, assuming the 32GB internal is also not wrong (the media have been touting 3GB ram which is apparently wrong like the 805 was too), the G3 should have over twice the app storage. Significant considering the S5 can't be rooted for most carriers and Kitkat killed most sd card functionality.

I'm still holding out hopes for 3gb ram. We've had two recent leaks that showed this:

LG G3 full specs leak ahead of announcement - GSMArena.com news

LG G3 (F400L) to cost $635 in South Korea, listing confirms - GSMArena.com news

I've decided to wait one more day before officially moving on.

So there are several options of reality here:

1. The leaked specs in the Powerpoint photo are false (fake).
2. The newly leaked ones are false (fake).
3. There are several models, but the US might be getting the 2GB ram version....

Based on the trend, I suppose the next thing to be wrong is the 32GB internal storage.

Update: It WAS wrong too? 16GB internal for a new high-end device due to Kitkat is IMO an epic failure.

What butt did the media collectively pull all these "leaks" from?

Next! $crew the media, I am going home. Really, if these specs are true, this device for speculative time has been CWOT: Complete Waste Of Time.

My guess is option "3" is correct and everyone outside of Asia is getting a gimped version. The carriers will charge a premium price for the cut down version. $crew em if correct. Looks like the S4 will be the first phone I actually keep for two years since my Ngage. Memories.

All possible.... however, why the assumption that the US is getting 2gb? I thought the leak with 2gb was Dutch. Did I miss a US spec leak (very possible)?

Explain to me why 2 Gig of ram is much worse the 3 Gig of ram. I mean I do realize that having an extra Gig is good but in cell phones is it that critical? Thanks

ditto.

however, we would like to have a Maserati. Maserati is supposed to have 3GB of ram.

16GB emmc is worse than 32GB emmc. However, 16GB emmc+64GB(128GB?) = 72GB (144GB?) is way better than 32GB in G2.

BTW, there is a deal right now for the 64GB microSDXC $24.99 AR http://www.ncixus.com/products/?sku=81570&vpn=PSF64GMCSDXC10&manufacture=Patriot&promoid=1069&usaffiliateid=1000031501

I thought I recalled the ram/storage deal from previous leaks.

Yeah I'm not at all concerned on that point. I'm very confident we'll see 32 GB internal storage and very likely 3 GB ram. I'm still up in the air on whether the US versions will see external storage this time around. Or a removable battery for that matter. Wouldn't surprise me to see a 3300 non removable.

I've been out of the game for the last few days so if we have major leaks that go against that, I may have missed it. But I'm putting near zero stock in the Dutch site, except for the processor. I think that will apply to all.

It's all relative to the payload and despite KitKat this and KitKat that, we don't know what to expect. The most reasonable for what to project would be based on the G2, but still, that would be an estimate.

I get by with heavy mods and 1 GB ram, the mods were necessary for basic multitasking as I expected it from previous generations. That's a 2012 phone, and Samsung's equivalent had 2 GB and none of my multitasking issues.

Fast forward to today - I'm seeing people with SGS5 models complaining that after startup and launching no more than two apps, they've got 200 MB free out of 2 GB due to the bloat it's packing. I've got a bunch running right now and have 180 MB free out of 1 GB. My brother just went with the Note 3, with 3 GB ram, over the SGS5 because of that ram size and he's happy - and not alone.

The press, who clearly know next to nothing, are selling free lunches with KitKat because it's so light. They've never profiled it. Maybe it is. But there is new LG software we know nothing about.

So it comes down to RAM Roulette.

Spin the wheel.

Did LG slim down their OS so not only is 2 GB plenty, but you save a third of your memory battery toll?

Or, did they pull a Samsung with their new marvel and it's going to choke as badly at two as mine did at one?

Place your bets, the wheel is spinning.

IMO, 16B (about 10GB for the user) is near worthless unless you are a lighter app user or like to juggle apps. Most newer games take up over 1GB and Gameloft EA games average 1.7GB.

These 16GB models are fine, but offer a 32GB model as well for users that want the storage. Google crippled external storage for most app function.

My S4 is 32GB and I have a 128GB card installed. I agree that 3GB ram is not much better (if at all) than 2GB. I have a Note 2014 and see little advantage. If you have the apps, Android loads them to fill most of it anyway. We used to have stack registers and now we have ram fillers ;)

IBT to the rescue. :) I thought of that because the European GNex is vastly different than the American one. We shall see.

No SDXC no removable battery no deal.:smokingsomb:

I will ignore the fact that my real life initials are "LG".

The US gets 3 gigs of ram while the rest of the world gets 2 and everyone is safe in their beds?

I got a 150 quatloos that say no way, and I'm giving two to one. :) :D

So the posted image above is not a Tmo spec sheet? The color at the top made it appear as such.

We we will see tomorrow. I am leaning that there are likely two models (at least) and we might not be on the higher spec end of the offerings. Simply put, most carriers love offering the lower spec models at the still higher spec prices. Verizon is a main example.

The 16gb storage and 2gb ram would be a bad choice, but the overall form factor is by far the best. And I won't even be buying for myself. LG would be able to take phone of the year honors, had they kept specs at top tier

Mark my words and your calendar, enjoy pointing and laughing tomorrow if I'm wrong, but I say this -

On RAM, there shall be only one (amount). :)

Its rare I bet against EM, but let's make it fun. I'm going for it. We have the "specs written on paper" pic that showed the varying storage and RAM. I definitely think we will see 32 GB storage. Absolutley. Zero waivering on that. I'm going out on the limb somewhat on the varying RAM. But hey, you only live once. :)

I'm not ready to say that 2 GB ram is a bad thing - unless any G2 owners have horror stories squeaking by on that amount.

I'm only willing to say it might be, and the wheel is spinning.

PS to MC - excellent reference. :)

So we're clear - you're putting up 75 quatloos to my 150 that there will be two RAM specs, 3 or 2 GB depending on region, and storage is not in the bet?

So marked. :)
