HTC DROID Eris OS 2.1v3 download

i've seen posts where people say to delete everything from the card and posts where people have left everything on their card and not had any problems. This seems like a silly question since you alraedy are coming from v.2 but are you holding vol. down and power on at the same time?
What's telling you that v.2 is loading and not v.3?

I'm on the 2nd leak right now... are there any real advantages of having this leak instead of the 2nd leak? other than it fixing some bugs that may been on the 2nd leak? because if not I'm not going to upgrade to this one because I'm not having any bugs on my version right now... and so if there are no real advantages then i'm not going to even bother with flashing this leak.

I was wondering the same thing.

How can you tell if you have v1, v2, or v3? I have 2.1 and it shows as 2.1 in the Firmware Version of About. Does this mean I don't have any of the latest versions or is 1, 2, or 3 supposed to show up there?

Thanks in advance.

just missing some apps i cannt download off the market yet cause it is not the official release from verizon

Which aps specifically? Is this a general problem with the leaked images? I've never updated my phone so this would be a huge barrier to updating. Thanks in advance.

Check your build number. I have the v3 leak on my eris and the build number is:
2.36.605.1

Hi,

I successfully updated to 2.1 on my eris. I see many of you are using an app called swype but I can find it anywhere. Can someone tell me where I can get this? Thanks so much.

Teri

I've been running version 3 for a couple of days now. My phone is running great! Much snappier too. Of course, that could be because it was wiped clean. And I only reloaded the apps I actually use (and ones I paid for).

Have had some trouble loading swype back on. But I found it difficult to install the first time too. I'll keep at it because I really like that keyboard.

Okay, so I know that the number of bars on the home screen are basically obsolete because they do not give a true representation of the phone's signal strength. But what about the actual signal strength in the phone settings that shows the dBm? Is that number accurate? If it is, what is the typical range for good reception? Thanks in advance.

Appreciate the new version post. Have done the past two updates without a PC. Flashed quickly and was up and running in about thirty minutes. Thanks again.

The closer to zero, the stronger the reception. I've never seen better than -58 dBm. At home I typically fluctuate between -66 and -78. You'll begin to notice some connectivity issues if you get around -100.

Just to be clear, as I looked through this thread I didn't find any info on this, what is the process to install this v3 leak if I have the v2 leak installed already?

Thanks for the reply. I stay between -83 and -90, but never had that bad of a signal on my BB. That signal is, however, better than the zero bars on the notification panel. Is there a way to display the dBm instead of the bars?

Just make sure the v2 zip file is removed from the sd card, then follow the same directions with the v3 zip.

You'll notice great discrepancy between your signal indicator and the actual signal strength. They will actually contradict each other at times. I don't even look at the bars anymore. I don't think there's a way to display the dBm.

Good morning. im a newby here. I just installed the 2.1v3 leak last night. I have never attempted anything like this before. I would like to thank caddy and everyone else for the info i read before downloading. I did find it a little difficult going back and forth between 17 pages for info so i thought i could try to tell my simplified experence installing 2.1v3 leak instructions.

ps. Im not trying to step on anybody's toe here. I went from 1.5 to 2.1v3 with just my eris and no computer at all. I left the eris charging the whole time also. I removed the back cover just to let it breath during the 104mb download due to the eris was heating up some. I put the cover back on before the next step.

I first went to the market and downloaded astro file manager on my eris and used it to back up my apps. (there is a area that ask ya if you want to back up apps.)

I then didnt worry about my contacts because i have them synced to my google acct. And they will come back as soon as you log back in to google. I then didnt worry about wiping any other data from the phone i just downloaded the 2nd mirror on caddymans first host message on page 1. After it downloaded to my phone i retreived the file from a file with astro file manager called download.

I opened the file that was called (download) and the image file was under all of my stored music on the sd card. (the music was already there and i didnt lose any after the installation was done.) I used the astro file to MOVE the file image to the file that says SD CARD. (theres one that says root right above it and that is not it. (That through me off track. Make sure you dont have any othe leak image in there if you have dowloaded one before) after you move the image from download to sdcard go to your home screen and SHUT off your phone.

Hold the vol. Down button and the red end (power) button at the same time to turn back on the phone. The three droids on scate boards will be seen and a blue proggress bar on the right. I though the green writing was all errors but the phone just was checking itself. Leave the eris alone till you see red writing something like do you want to program push the trackball in and the phone will do its progaming and shut off and turn itself back on. You will see the green and red writing again leave it alone and the phone will cycle again i believe.

You now have 2.1v3. Sorry about being so long but i felt it was needed for some of us that hasnt done it before.

Thanks again all.

Ps. its 10:45 cst on 5/2/10 and i have been using it all night without sleep and the only problem so far is a little lag during typing this on the eris.

Ok...wen i try the installation process it shows the feb 8 file etc.......imma try to redownload it and see what happens...thanks for the help tho..
