Root [Boost Mobile] Tri-Band S3 (SPH-L710T)

I was running out of options and I felt frustrated, then I did like DWILSON48625, I made a nandroid backup from my wife's phone, used her sd card in my phone, restore with Philz and WOW! FINALLY! IT WORKS! what a relief! After that I just did a factory reset for a clean start, its working, so far so good. I will definitely make a nandroid backup this time.

I want to thank DWILSON48625 and wetbiker7 for the support and everybody in this forum for all the hard work and effort to keep the S3 up and running. I'll be in touch. If I can help developing new stuff, it will be my pleasure, I'm no expert :)

Glad you got it fixed. Nice job! :)

Curious what changes are in this to fix rotation issue. Or is this just the stock kernel? Gonna try and flash conquest on my friends phone, then this kernel.

Glad you guys are makin headway on this variant.

Thanks again!
The kernel in that post is the original stock.

If you use Conquest: Singularity, and use the stock kernel, you get proper rotation, but lose Wifi, possibly bluetooth as well. Didn't check camera or anything in depth.

Glad you got your phone goin!

Theres no feelin like knowin you dorked up lol. Thats how I came accross that file in "savemyass.zip". I flashed my first rom and boom, no efs.

Now, get goin on some backups. Do a nandroid. Also, do an efs backup in philz. Its gotta be done by itself I believe.

Then upload them to dropbox or somethin so you got it available anywhere!

Wish I was more skilled and could help resolve this rotation situation we are havin.

Has anyone tried to flash an older sph-l70 stock samsung signed kernel onto the sph-l70t without tripping knox then using towelroot to root then returning to the correct newer sph-l70t samsung signed kernel? I would try this myself but i can not find an odin flashable stock samsung signed 3.4.0-1683363 dpi@SWDD5902 #1 Mon Jun 23 22:47:29 KST 2014 for the sph-l70t

edit: apparently there is supposed to be a kernel for this phone from may when is was released any one got it?

There is a lengthy thread on this model. You will find many answers to your question in there.

Looked. There is nothing that covers this only people using phliz to root. This has not been discussed whether a stock signed kernel from the sph-l710 with a date of before june 3 can be flashed to the sph-l710T for rooting with towleroot so to not trip knox.

I'am also glad that you got your phone back and working...

I never had my doubts for not even a second, as for I know these guys are great at what they do. :thumb: :thumb: These guys are awesome in my book, Thank you everyone I'am one proud man here enjoying all of your hard work I'am also very impressed of how fast you guys are working on this topic such awesome progress...... :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Sometimes it may not seem like they are trying to help you but TRUST ME THEY ARE..... I have total respect for these guys in here.. :)

Yes highly recommended to do a nandroid back up at this point and if you can make one for the worst case scenario and make your self one on a weekly or monthly basis will help you recover faster from where you last left off at.. Good luck brutha on your new phone..

So far so good. It's working and I made a nandroid backup this time :)

Awesome news man. I've been stuck before and know what it feels like. IT'S A BADDDDD FEELING!!! I'm stoked to hear you are up and running.

I always try to keep a few Nandroid backups saved on my PC too. I recommend it.

You are right men! it's a very bad feeling! I have nandroid backups in my PC, dropbox and in my sd card. I'm still lookin for tirband stock firmware. HARD TO FIND! no luck yet.

Hey all. I just got a VM sph-l710t last week and i managed to get cyanogenmod 11 M10 on it. But When I upgrade to any newer build of cm 11 I no longer have service and it shoes my baseband as unknown in the settings. I thought I'de try my luck here seeing as how this is probably the most active thread about this phone and see if anyone knows of a fix.

I don't think anyone in this thread has tried CM. I know I haven't. There are ROMs out there that just will not recognize your baseband. Doesn't overwrite... Just won't read it. If you can restore, and your baseband be there without restoring it, then it's just a ROM problem. No real way to get around it. Otherwise, you could try re-flashing the radio. If it still says unknown, there's no fix. BrokenOS did the same thing.

I hate this Triband! I rooted mine because I didn't get good service where Im at thinking it would help but it didn't. After I rooted, it get no service at all! And no sound on any of the roms I tried. So Im trying Conquest and see if that works. If not, guess Im screwed out of $190! Ughhhhhhhh!

Please note that this will change your device build name to the sph-l710

For Conquest Singularity
Follow the instructions as on
moonknightus OP FOR BOOST
http://androidforums.com/sprint-cri...-rom-tw-4-4-2-conquest-singularity-9-5-a.html

then patch the kernal back to stock
With the link i posted above to fix
The inverted landscape -if it bothers you.

Download from this link for Conquest and it keeps crashing my browser.... Where else can I download it from?

Been running M10 myself on the Boost variant. Have not found a build beyond that version with data.

Thats what I've been doin. I can easliy recover back to the m10 build without problems. I tried to flash the latest 10/09 nightly again today to see if there's anything i can do about it and I noticed that the /efs/ folder is totally empty. I'm assuming that's really bad. I wonder why it does that.

Rooting does nothing to/for your signal. Conquest is one of the better ROMs. I'd recommend trying it.

I finally got it to download and installed it. I still have no data signal or sound and I know it's not my location because I have always had signal. I have searched everywhere to try and unroot it and no luck! I don't know what else to do :( I might just had to go back to my LG Venice.

When you go to Settings > About device > Baseband Version
What does it say? If it say unknown, you need to reflash your radio.
Otherwise, I have no idea. As for the audio, I have not had an issue with any ROM and my audio...

Rooting DID NOT cause this. It cant... thus unrooting will not help..

Ive rooted alot of friends phones with philz with no issues. You wiped somethin or flashed something wrong or in wrong order. I know, i did the same thing on my first rom on my 710.

Only thing i can think of, is you formatted internal sd card, thus wiping efs folder. If you go into "about phone" and see no imei, or any of that stuff, than the internal got wiped (via recovery when you flashed roms).

I dont know how to recover all that on the triband tho. I uploaded "savemyass.zip" but it only works on l710 model, not 710t.

Another guy did this the other day in this thread. Might wanna hit him up and see what steps he took. I think he used a nandroid from his wifes phone and flashed it but dont quote me on that.

ALWAYS make a nandroid when rooting and installing custom recoveries. You can also backup your efs (small file, great importance) with philz. Hopefully you get up and runnin again and make copies incase this happens again.

Correct. Message morro. I'm sure he still has the nandroid

Just did that. It does say "UNKNOWN." So how would I get a radio to reflash it...?

Thanks for helping. I also messaged that guy. :) Hopefully I can have this all fixed tomorrow. A day without my phone is driving me nuts!
