So... there's no obvious (to me) way to mark specific forums as "read".
I don't see a way either.

EDIT: Xyro posted on the next page you can mark threads read on the New Posts page. Link at top of site :)

Please don't tell me that there's no way to do this, and that Xenforo considers everything "read" every time I visit the site.
You have to view each thread for it to be marked read. If you come back to the site in 30 minutes threads you haven't read will still be unread.

That's a step above what I feared. I only read the threads that interest me (judging by the title). When I'm done reading those, I mark the entire forum as "read". The ability to keep track of where you left off is among the most basic of forum features. Without it, no amount of bells and whistles will make using the forum palatable.

Well I've found a nice new feature within a forum where it insets a miniature version of your own avatar over the avatar of the last poster of each thread to which you have contributed.

So you can see at a glance which threads you have been involved with. And then a blue circle in front of the thread name will inform you that new posts have been made in that thread since last you read it.

Hit 'New Posts' from the top bar on the forum and pick to view new posts from the whole site or just your favourite (a.k.a. subscribed/watched) forums. There's a 'Mark Forums Read' option at the top of the list there.

Alternately, if you browse the 'My Forums' > 'Unread posts' list, you get a list of updated posts in your subscribed forums. I mention this because there's a divider in the list that separates threads that are unread and new versus unread but old. I tend to browse that way, meaning I know what's new without having to mark the forums read and affecting forums I haven't actually visited in that session.

Tap the blue circle for a bonus. ;)

preview fail.png
I have a bug. It may be my Windows OS that I am using, but it didn't do it before. Whenever I am in the forums and I click a topic ex, Android Applications, as I scroll down all the different threads, If I place my mouse over one, a pop up preview box comes up with the preview, but it never goes away and covers up all the threads above it making it impossible to read any threads underneath. I usually come here while I am at work and of course our IT department keeps everything unsafe locked away with no access, but they are always behind the curve on OS. We currently use IE 8. So as I float around work areas, all with their own Pc’s, they all use the same thing and I get the same preview overlap that won’t go away. Is it because the new forum is no longer backwards compatible to old IE 8 or is it a bug that everyone is experiencing? Is this the right place to report bugs? If not, please move it. Thanks

Seriously what is the trophies crap all about? Talk about useless features. A material design theme might help me deal with the chaos.

Seriously, you brought that up in three threads, I replied to one of them.

I also replied in a second thread about the themes.

Thanks for being so cool and patient! :D

OK. We're back! Sorry about the downtime I needed to do some stuff. Let's see if any of the quirkiness dies down - also let me know if any of the tapatalk issues resolve.

Thanks!
Only tapatalk issue I'm suffering from, I've been unable to browse through AF's sub forums.

Everything else tapa related is great [emoji106]

I hoped the emergency outage meant you were reverting back to vbulletin. This site layout sucks! Too much like Facebook mixed with PlayStation network

Just a BTW:
Thought I'd try the OG PHANDROID-A/F app again,to see if the forum side was functional again (no).

Anyhoo,as before (this is still w/the OG app),cannot even log-in,but,if you select "Create an account",you'll be re-directed to the new A/F site.

Unlike Tapatalk, which already supported XenForo, the original app was only ever designed with vBulletin in mind. So it won't become functional again, short of Phases and Rob deciding to revrert to that app over Tapatalk and having an update developed.
