Tapatalk and Xenforo

Ah just realized that the forum list is (or is supposed to be) accessible by tapping the forum name on the top bar. It does work for the other forum where I thought my subscribed forums were gone, they show up here. Although the separate "Browse" selection is gone it's now part of this function, you get the list of your subscribed sub-forums and then below that the full list of all sub-forums.
But, forum display is still broken for this forum, tapping Android Forums at the top gives the same perpetual "Loading" display as Browse did in the earlier versions.
When I tap on the Android Forums on the top bar it just spins and nothing appears, is that what you referred to?

Btw, still no feeds showing for Android Forums.

Yes if it were working the forum list would populate when you tap that bar. Try it on a different forum in Tapatalk and it will work.

Yeah I know it works for other forms, there are still some others that used to work that don't work now such as MSFN forum.

This is what I see after tapping on the wording Android Forms at the top which is probably the same as what you are experiencing.

This is my first post since the xenforums "upgrade" [sic] to AF. I cannot get to my subscribed forum list in tapatalk 4.10.2 since the xf update.
That effectively cuts me off from af.
I got here to find this post only by Google search on my web browser.
Yeah I know it works for other forums,
EXACTLY.

Other forums like androidcentral still work fine for me on tapatalk !!

Af is the only problem for me and it worked fine until xenforums!!

So all this talking about tapatalk as if it were the problem seems out of whack to me when maybe we should be talking about the xenforums mess instead ??

If other forums don't work for you guys..Do you know of they also use this same xen forums ?

As intimated previously, this is due to some as-yet-unknown strangeness in recent versions of TT interacting with certain forum software. It's not purely a XF issue as V4.6.2 works as expected, and many users of XDA, which runs on vBulletin, report similar issues.

I got here only by Google search on my web browser

The "androidforums.com" URL was unaffected by the software migration.

I agree, the issue is likely to be with Xenforo & AF rather than Tapatalk, I'm lead to believe that AF are in discussion with Tapatalk.

Thanks slug. I guess I'm the classic change-resistant user doing a little venting (sorry). I'm sure there are good things to come with the new software.

I think the issue was Tapatalk the app and the Xenforo plugin also developed by Tapatalk. That is why there were a few updated pushed over the last several days.

My Tapatalk version (*) seems up to date (**) but is not working for me (can't find any subscribed forum list).

* I have tapatalk 4.10.2 running on my rooted AT&T S4 with stock Android 4.3.

** I have playstore set for manual updates, but there are no tapatalk updates waiting for me in the Playstore which ordinarily would mean I am up to date. But I see from discussion at beginning of the thread that different people have different versions of tapatalk even though they all (like me) have no tapatalk updates waiting in playstore... not sure what's going on with that

I guess I'll wait awhile and see if some new version of Tapatalk shows up in my playstore updates.

Remember, about two years ago there was a change in Play where different versions of apps can be served from the same play listing for compatibility with multiple devices. There may be versions compatible with Android 4.0, 4.01, 4.1, 4.2.2, 4.4.4, 5.0, and 5.01 as well as phone and tablet variants for each (this one I'm positive of), as well as versions for different screen resolutions.

4.10.2 didn't pick up my subscribed sub-forums. I had to add them manually. 4.5.2 didn't work at all for a while but when it came back it had my subscribed sub-forums. Looks like yet another bug in 4.10.2.

Tapatalk Inc themselves say as much in the Play Store description; under "Current version" it says "Varies with device". This makes troubleshooting a real pain. :(

They merged the tablet and phone versions into Pro then retired it. Now there is just one version. The reason that people had different versions is that they used a phased rollout instead of beta testing. 4.10.2 is the current version for all devices.

I'm still running gingerbread on my old LG Optimus V. Play says tapatalk is up to date, version 2.4.16 and it works great!

I probably wouldn't have tried tapatalk again (been 2 years) but the new android forums since the changeover is unusable on my phone. :(

4.10.x and 2 have same the same package name so I can't install them both at the same time. :( The new plugins should all be regression tested to make sure they still work with 2. Hmm... I can do that........ They made me moderator of the beta group. All I can do is invite but they know who I am.

Have you tried Tapatalk version 2.4.15 ? AF works fine on this version for me with regards to browsing sub forums etc.

No need, 2.4.16 works perfectly.

What i meant was AF is unusable from my phones browser, and i have tried a few other browsers with no luck. :(

Ah ok. The version I use works perfectly for me as a means of looking up my favourite forums.

What is the difference between the 15 and 16 versions?
