Accessories Car Dock Discussion Thread

You know, as cool as this car dock talk and photos all is, with the wood variants and all, I just had a flash that I think I'm just going to put a piece of self sticky soft side velcro on the back, and put the harder hook stuff wherever I want the phone in any vehicle. :D

Alright, the poor man's cup-holder car dock is complete.
Total cost = $0.00 (scrap wood)
I made sure to leave enough room so it would fit with a case on. Hopefully I can pick one up tomorrow. They have been sold a=out at my local store.

If anyone wants one made, please send $100 =)

Ok, I'm taking the car dock off my windshield immediately and will never ever put the phone up there again. It is 76 out and after being up there for 20 minutes it was super hot. I then took it out for 10 minutes and put it back up there for 30 more...when I took it out it was burning hot and took a long long time to cool down. I'm praying it didnt affect the phone in any way!:(

I've been using one of these on my iPhone for a while now. The Xway version. I just use my car charger and audio cable to the stereo.

That looks pretty awesome.

It looks like the x-way version is designed so that you can manipulate various parts of your phone without disengaging it from the magnet piece right?

How secure is this for you? Has your iphone ever become dislodged during spirited driving or while you were pressing on any part of the screen??

This looks like the perfect solution for what I'm looking for. Thanks.

I just bought the Brackerton that goes into the car vents. It works great. $19.99 at Target and, no, I don't work for either.

this is exactly the reason i didn't mount mine above the dash.

I've never had a GPS before so I'm curious, why do people like the mount in the middle down low instead of on the windshield or dashboard?

I actually like having it up on the dash so I don't have to look away from the road as far.

Two negatives I can think of.
1. it will partially obstruct your view depending where its mounted
2. thieves will see the mount and might break into your car to look for a GPS.

I'm still in search for a mount that is isnt bulky but can handle the silicon cover

Pilot hole and dremel out an oval for the charger port.

Then send me a free one as your new partner/designer.

yeah, I'm thinking of getting a vent mount also and switch depending on the weather but that seems like a big hassle.

Also, I just read two reviews on amazon that the seuction cup doesnt work very well on this.

I refuse to buy anythign that has an arm the size of my..... In all seriousness though, all the ones I see are very ugly and the arms are way to long. I wish there was something like the droid's. Or something that fit into the Garmin holder.

I do agree, I think I will have to make a sacrifice though if I want something that will fit with my silicon cover on

I am going with the M2 from soundgate.com Based on the youtube video it appears to rotate forwards. I plan on mounting it on my dash (1992 Toyota Camry) and bringing it forward so that the A/C vent keeps it cool here in sunny Florida.

Anyone already have their M2 and can share experiences and/or pictures? My two concerns that I would love to be addressedare:

1. How much does it actually move forward
2. How well does the adhesive button adhere to a case and how obtrusive is it? Will it attach to my bodyglove case.

My M2 is in transit, going to be another 4 or 5 days I think till I get it. I've seen a few reports of failing adhesive, but I don't understand the big concern over this. Simply replace with some heavy duty 3M adhesive, and you can be sure it's not going anywhere. I've used that stuff on tons of item over the years and once it's set, it's not moving. I'll update once I get mine setup.

I purchased the Soundgate M2 to mount my Incredible on my Honda Civic Dash. I wanted something that would not require me taking off my VZW silicone case which I really like, but at the same time I did not want a bulky mount that clamps around the phone.

I found the M2 mentioned in another forum and ordered it from Amazon. Amazon's price is 5 Bucks cheaper than ordering it directlly from Soundgate and I got free shipping with Amazon Prime to boot.

Here are some pics of the phone mounted:

When looking at from the drivers seat it its appears to be "floating" in the air. I like the clean look.

Mount without phone attached.

Mounting disk attached to case. Case is still pocketable with disk attached.

Will be anxious to see how durability is after a few weeks of mounting and unmounting... but I like it so far.

Nice!!! That is my plan exactly, so it's good to see that the disc sticks to the case. To date I haven't seen a better looking mounting system for this phone.
