Root LG Volt Stock ZV5 Rooted Rom - Odex & Deodex

Is there going to be an Odexed rom without bloat being removed? I'm not sure which rom to install, deodexed or odexed. I don't plan on doing any custom themes, so I think it would be better to install odex rom. Thanks.

I have a full odexed rom made right now, but it won't install. No matter what I try it fails to flash. But the funny thing is if I remove a few apps it'll install just fine. I don't know if I'm violating some maximum zip file size that I don't know about or what.

No worries. I installed the Deodexed rom and it's working great. Thanks very much for all your hard work on this project and putting all your time into it. It is greatly appreciated.

From the files and apps you deleted, would you mind posting a zip file containing them?
Been trying to use the stock backup app but it seems you deleted something very important for it to work properly.
Thanks.

Update: was quick memo deleted? I cant seem to use it. Mind including this if you can?

I'll look into it as soon as I can. Been working overtime plus remodeling my kitchen so times a bit slim.
I guess it was a noob thing. After doing a data wipe factory reset from recovery (as bg4m3r suggested for other glitches, thanks to you also!) all stubborn shortcuts and multi photo paper issues are cured... many thanks for the ZV5 rom! I would like to add that after flashing with CWM there have been no data/service connection issues, but I also tried TWRP a couple times and had to update prl and profile both times to restore connection.

I just installed the deodexed with TWRP as recommended after having previously flashed the radio. I'm very happy with everything. I don't know if this is an issue because it was removed from the ROM, or maybe I'm not knowledgeable enough to pull this off.

Any help is appreciated, my problem is as follows.

I want to listen to BBC iPlayer, and the only way as a US resident is to get the APK and install, then open through Hola Unblocker Android. When I try, I get this text: "Error trying to show the Android 4.0+ VPN service dialog. This shouldn't happen as it's a standard feature of Android 4.0+, but your Android device may not support VPN auto-configuration."

You won't like this answer, but try a factory reset. This could be another one of the glitches we've been encountering.

I am a noob to the fullest extent when it comes to rooting any phone at all, I have an LG Volt ls740zv5. I have read that I wont be able to even begin the root process unless I downgrade to zv3? Not really completely confident that I want to downgrade to root. Any and all help to understand the pro's/con's in doing so would be very much appreciated. Also, a step by step process on how to do the root would be awesome and when I say step by step I mean literally step by each and every step.. I do not want to brick my phone, I need it haha.
Thanks in advance to whomever is able to assist me.

Well, here's your rooting guide:

Read carefully and thoroughly and ask questions before you begin.

As for the pros, you can remove unneeded apps that are at best taking up space, and at worst, wasting resources and hurting performance... You can apply various interface and performance tweaks, make backups, and customize the phone to exactly how you want it. You can also fix the issue with apps accessing the sd card.

The con is that if you aren't careful, you can ruin your phone.

If you are happy with how the phone is working and behaves and what you can disable in the stock system, you may want to just leave well enough alone. Rooting is a very powerful tool, and also very dangerous. You will be free to do anything you want to the phone, good or bad. There are safety nets, though.

For a look at the customizing you can do, check out this thread:

From that zip the BackupRestoreConfirmation.apk LGBackup.apk and LGMemo.apk all go in the
system/priv-app folder and the LGMemoWidget.apk goes in the system/app folder
