I think what TDianna is referring to with "losing battle" is the endless calls to reps of both HTC and VZW...

In other words, no one knows anything and it will happen when it happens.

I don't think anyone can dispute that the proverbial *they* is working on this firmware.

You are correct! BTW, my name is tony..

A poster on HTC forums claims a VZW tech told him May 11th the 2.1 OTA will start to roll out. Could it possibly be happening soon? I certainly hope so but I won't be devastated if it doesn't come out. At least now 2 people are reporting it very close to the same thing.

And to follow up to that, the post right below it says two weeks per a regional QA supervisor. I don't know that I believe it, but with the Hero's update ready to roll out, it could be accurate...

I hope (Yeah, I know, quit laughing) that, with the imminent release of the 2.1 for Sprints Hero, OUR update is right around the corner. But, I also know that Verizon has a way of delaying updates WAY beyond anything a reasonable person would deem appropriate. Since the Hero and Eris are 9/10ths the same thing, let's hope we will be next in line...

Apparently, the delay is to give them time to patch up the bugs. The longer the delay, the cleaner the final OTA release when it finally does roll out (at least in theory).

An official Verizon Rep announced to that we would be getting 2.1 by the end of Quarter 1 2010.

Just installed this leaked 2.1 version on Eris , and it runs PERFECTLY!!!! Finally, Google Maps Navigation! Love the new app store! This should hold me over till 2.2.

I was hesitant to install it, but so I emailed HTC support about the *Official* Eris 2.1 update. This is what they said:

As far as we here in HTC Technical Support have heard is that it is in the Development Process. We have not heard any other response besides they are still working on the 2.1 firmware for your device
After all the rumors about 1st quarter, then mid april, I've had it with their lies! Plus Verizon won't even allow upgrades [to the HTC Incredible] for current customers!?!? They said I'd have to pay the full price of $599!!!

***Be careful. All my downloaded apps were deleted after installing this. And make sure to backup your phone contacts to your Gmail account. I downloaded an app (forgot the name) that exported my phone contacts to a csv file on my sd card. Then I imported the file to my gmail contacts, which Eris recognized as contacts and put them in the People app. What a time saver!

One of these days....it's gonna happen.

I'm just curious, how do we know 100% that it's going to be 2.1? We can't even get a date that's set in stone. Their flagship phones, (moto droid and incredible) are running 2.1 right? Who's to know that we may end up with either 1.6 or 2.0. Either way it's still an update though.

The leaks so far have been 2.1.

No phone is running 2.0.

I heard from the rep at the store by my office that starting May 16th a cherub with the face of Samuel L. Jackson and the body of Tobias Funke will be delivering the update to each and every Eris owner. This cherub will meet you at a place of your choosing, gently massage your phone and magically Android 2.6534 will appear. You will receive Google Navigator and the new app (you won't want to miss) Google Splash-Down which tracks the trajectory of Apollo 12.

Really? What will Google Splash-Down do? I'm excited for my cherub to visit me!! ;)

I want my Cherub to look like Yvonne Strahovsky.... now that's what I'm talking about...

There's only one Cherub, and with that comment, you're getting pushed back in line. Also my Verizon rep said to expect the roll out to take through 3rd quarter 2017. The Cherub can only visit so many owners a day. Settle in folks, settle in.

Im not trying to rub it in at all, im not usually lucky, but i won an incredible from that mothersday facebook contest and had to reboot my eris to get sound so in the meantime i wanted to tell someody about it. But its not goodbye cuz i will give my eris to my wife and still anxiously await the(surely impending) update.

the real question is... will he be nevernude?

I think that the term "two weeks" is the Verizon Wireless equivalent of "at some point in the future but we are not exactly sure when."

Please close this thread, it gives me such tired head.

"Is it this week?"
"Is it next week"
"I hear it's XX day"
"No, no way, they are totally lying to us."
"No, just download the leak, ignore all the leaks."
"No HTC promised us this, they owe me this, I bought their product."
"I read that that phone XXXXX is getting it, so we are totally getting it soon."
"Dude, it's a conspiracy, we'll never get it."
"I got it! No just kidding."
"I am really sad that we don't have it yet."
"No really, I'm sad."
"Oh god, pray for me, my Eris is running 1.5"
"Oh god, I just shot myself and ate my phone."
"I'm bleeding out, but I just talked to HTC and it's coming............."
